Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Congrats on the new purchases Shelly! :) You have all sorts of fun things to pack into that cute polka dot bag.

Sorry I left... I'm out the door to entertain the kids.
I wrote up the post and then the AC guy came! Good news is it's fixed a day early, bad news is....... shopping has been put on an indefinite hold.

So here's my post for today.
I will be back later to catch up with everyone-- looks like ya'll are chatting up a storm! :goodvibes

Bags Bags Bags!

I have found that using a Vera Bradley large duffel as my carry on with all my stuff in it is what works best for me and the girls. I like that it is soft and you can squish it down to fit into the overhead bins if you don’t fill it to overflowing. I also like that it is durable and can hold a ton of stuff. What I DON’T like is that there are no wheels, so if I am traveling alone without my DH I have to take that into consideration when deciding what to pack and how strong I feel that trip.

With that in mind, I always keep an eye out on the VB website for sales, and I have gotten some really good deals. The first one I bought was one called Sittin in a Tree.

I got it on a great sale, paying about $35 for it. After using it with great results I waited until the large duffels went back on sale and then stocked up- buying two in Imperial Toile-

One for Belle, one for me--- and then one in the Owl pattern for MC-

b/c it is her favorite pattern and she already has it in the small duffel.

Also in trips past I have used this small messenger bag to take into the parks—

However, the Coach outlet store has been calling my name and Mark has promised new ones to me and the girls for the trip. Once I get those, I will post them. :yay:

And last but not least- Belle’s purse that she loves so much-
mmpurse.jpg

We got it for her on a trip a few years ago and she always takes it on the plane with her on the way to Disney.

As far as the boys’ bags--- ehh, they can figure it for themselves. They don’t need cute duffels. :rotfl:

Here they are all together, ready to be filled with good stuff!

I have a funny story , my main reason for going out today was to get rid of all the bottle, we had two bag fulls. We get to BJ's and DH takes one bag out of the car and I look at him and say, there are two bags. He says no there aren't. I said yes there are remember I took a few out of the one bag since it was overflowing and put them in the second bag before you put them in the car. He looks at me and says " I only put one bag in the car, I thought you wanted to leave the other bag" :headache: Now why on earth would I want to leave the rest of the bottles ? :lmao:

I did go back to Target about the dress and they did have it still although it was not on sale today, but after I held it up to myself in the mirror , I just do not like me in yellow so I passed on it. They have some really cute dresses but all sleeveless and I want something with a lil sleeve.

Congrates on the new car Shelly! Car salesmen are the worst! Love your new bag and the fact that it has wheels !!! I am sure you can fit lots in it. Funny you bought white sungrasses, I stopped to look at a white pair today both my other ones are sorta like the second pair you have.

Great to know you found a way to beat the heat when in Disney by wearing dresses :thumbsup2

Yeah for having the A/C fixed. :cheer2:

I love all the duffle bags and your messenger bag too. Belle's Mickey purse is adorable. I have a small Vb handbag, I never even thought about looking a VB duffles.

This year will be the first time in ages that I am taking a duffle as a carryon, normally I just grab my backpack and stuff what I can in it. I do have a leather duffle that i used a few times but it is heavy before you put anything into it.

Before I leave you ;) there is one more thing I have been meaning to tell you! Last Saturday (a week ago) I bought myself a new toy! At our camp, we don't have internet, so I am so lost up there without my computer. (I know, that's pathetic) So I have been thinking of how I could work it out to get internet. My Dsis and DBIL just got IPads, which work up there. I looked into a device to plug into my laptop to get internet. Well my GF told me about something she has been looking at. It's a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, and it is like an IPad, but smaller and a lot less expensive. (I guess it's similar-I'm not up on the IPad) so we each bought one, and I love it! I tested it out last week at our camp, and I an get on the internet there now! Plus, it is a hotspot device - if I'm using the term correctly  - so it will enable me to get internet access on my laptop as well. Anyway, I'm having fun with it, and now I won't miss a thing on the Dis when we're at the camp!

That is awesome!! I don't have anything like that. I'm glad you will be able to keep in touch when you go to your camp! :thumbsup2
But I'm thinking that maybe Jodi's knight in shining armor just rode up on his white horse. Translation: the A/C guy just drove up in his white company truck. ;)

::yes::

Congrats on the new purchases Shelly! :) You have all sorts of fun things to pack into that cute polka dot bag.

Thanks Kelli! :) I have been wanting to do a packing trial run just to see how much stuff I can fit in it, but I just haven't done it yet!

Love all the duffels Jo! :)

I kind of wish I had gotten one when you got them on sale. But I really need to have something on wheels. I have had 2 shoulder surgeries, so lugging heavy bags on my shoulders isn't really an option for me.

I bet you and the girls will fit lots of stuff in them!!

I love the messenger bag too. I have been carrying the same bag to the parks for years. I've looked for a new one because mine is very plain, but I just haven't found anything as light & practical as it.

YAY on getting the AC fixed!! :cool1:

Sorry about the bottles. :upsidedow DH's.:rotfl:

Too bad the dress didn't work out for you.

Thanks! :) Buying a car is like going to the dentist. I hate it so much!! I'm glad it's over. We tend to keep our vehicles for a long time so hopefully we won't have to go through it again for a long time!!

I've never had white sunglasses before, but you know how I love trying new things!! Hopefully I won't look like too much of a dork in them! :rotfl:

Great updates ladies!
Love the bags Jodi..I love Vera Bradley too! And great purchases Shelly!
So, I think I told Shelly this in a PM a few weeks ago that we are headed to visit my in-laws in Marco Island, FL two weeks from Friday. Well, we have been talking (DH and I), and we are going to do a very last minute, quick vacation to WDW after Marco Island! Once our visit with my in-laws is over, we will drive up to Orlando and seeped three nights at the BWI! This was just decided yesterday, so I have been making ADRs and resort reservations today! And, we are going to postpone our October trip until January. So, lot of Disney talk in my house is happening!
Hope you all had great weekends!

Cute bags Jo! I really like them all. I'm a wheelie bag person too though Shelly. It just makes it so much easier when you have multiple bags. But there you go Jo, you can call up VB and tell them that you have an idea for a new line of bags with wheels, and tell them you'll accept Disney Dollars as your commission! :)

I really like your park bag too! I may be in the market for something like that b/c this will be the first time that we will be strollerless at WDW! I really don't even know what I need or want in a bag b/c the stroller basket has pretty much always been our park bag. Sounds like a good excuse for a shopping trip to me???? Can I get a amen?

Lauren!! :goodvibes

No you didn't tell me any of that!! :faint: That is so awesome! Congrats!! Are you able to get any good ADR's? What kind of room are you getting at the BWI? Are all the girls coming with you?

:yay:

I'm already thinking about a 2012 trip! :upsidedow

Amen sister!! :worship:

Let's see....what do I take in my park bag? Very little. We started going to WDW the week our youngest turned 4 and we have never taken a stroller. So we have traveled pretty light.

In my bag is my cell phone, credit card, KTTW card, sunglasses (if they aren't on my head), dining ADR #'s, hand sanitizer, band-aids, my camera, my license, hmm...I think that's about it.

The kids each have a small Disney fanny pack that they carry a few things in. DH takes a backpack if we need to carry jackets, but something tells me that won't be necessary this time! :rotfl:

Hi Shelly! I thought I had told you we were going to Marco Island for some reason!
Yes, the girls are coming too and they are so excited! I cannot believe the ADR's we got! We got Yachtsman, Mama Melrose's, and Le Cellier (!) for our dinners! I am so excited! Le Cellier must have been just canceled by someone else. We got a water view room at the BWI. I can't wait! Anything you or Jodi would like me to look out for when I am there? Any pictures you need?

I'm so excited for you! Is this the first time you've planned a last minute trip? I would be freaking out!!! :scared1: That's great that you got some awesome ADR's!

Thanks for the offer.....I'll have to think about that one and get back to you! I'm sure there's something I need you to check out or need a picture of! :rotfl:

How many parks will you be able to go to?

When we got to Korea I splurged on an iPhone. I LOVE being able to get on the internet whenever I want. I have to be careful though. One of these days I'm going to end up all the way down in Seoul from getting on the subway, surfing the internet, and missing my stop! I haven't tested out the wifi hotspot with my laptop yet, but that will be fun too.

I hate car shopping too. Thus far, we've mostly avoided it, because my grandparents gave us a car when they bought a new one. It has been pretty frustrating though. Since we were moving here, we didn't want to buy a new car, so last year when we had engine trouble we dropped the $4500 to replace it. Strangely enough, a few months ago there was a huge hail storm in the Kansas City area, so the insurance company totaled the car and we're getting an over $5000 settlement, so at least we're getting back all the money we've put into it. We're still trying to keep the car and bring it here though, so we'll see what happens.

Even so, when we get back to the states we're going to have to go car shopping. The new vs. used dilemma drives me crazy, because while I know cars depreciate so quickly (I'm still trying to make DH understand this) usually you can have a few years without problems before you start to have to put more money into it with a new car.
We'll likely go with a used vehicle when we get back, then go back in a few years to get a minivan (new or used?). DH wanted to get one as soon as we got back, but I can't justify it with gas prices being the way that they are. We shouldn't need the extra space for a few years after we go back, so it's better to save the money on gas while we can.

I'm glad your AC got fixed.

Having Fantasmic everyday has had such a big impact on the crowd calendar, I too have to readjust all my plans. We were not going to see it, but now we are thinking of possibly popping in last-minute if there is still space available. We don't mind standing, but we do mind waiting for the show.

I'm going to have to go car shopping too soon. And for the first time ever, I'll be in the market for a new car... I think. While I understand they depreciate, I also like having the peace of mind of knowing my car should run fine for a few years.

Yes...this is the first time for me for planning a last minute trip! It is kind of stressful, but very exciting. I was freaking out yesterday about the planning, but now that I have my ADR's all set, I think I'm doing okay. We are going to go to MK, EPCOT, and DHS. We will be park hopping.
Yes, if either you or Jodi (or anyone else for that matter) has anything you want me to check out, let me know!

I wouldn't buy an old clunker from Billy Bob's Low, Low Prices! lot  But I think there are great deals to be had at reputable dealerships on late model (1 or 2 years old), low mileage cars that still have a couple of years of factory warranty remaining. Having said all that, I did buy new last time. ;) But I wouldn't rule out used! Especially on a make like Toyota or Honda that typically run for years and years.

I don't have an IPhone, even though it would have worked for getting on the internet at our camp. The reason I haven't joined the smart phone club is that the screen is too small for me to read the print! So I just have a plain old phone for calling and texting. When you get to be a certain *ahem* age, your close-up vision starts to go down the toilet. Reading glasses help, but they give me a headache. The Galaxy tab is small enough to stick in my purse if I want to, but big enough for me to see! It is easy to get so absorbed in surfing that you forget what you're doing! Don't get lost! ;)
