Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Great MK post Jodi! :cool1: You guys have had some really great times there. I just love all the pics. Especially the one of Belle & Mickey. I had forgotten about that. What a special memory. :cloud9:

What do you think, should we talk about Epcot next? :lovestruc

Thanks Shelly!!! We have had so many good times at the MK that I had to leave out so very many of them.:headache:

Oh! Wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It IS Three months today!!! Yay me!!!!:lmao:
We are one day closer, friend!:goodvibes

Oh gosh, I dunno... Epcot???

Are you ready for Epcot already???

Who in the World loves Epcot???

ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot wait to talk Epcot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cloud9:

Jo~I don't think we could do a relaxed Disney vacation either. there is so much that we want to see and I'm always afraid that we won't get it all in. GO GO GO!

If history is any indication, I know that we will probably go back, and that means it will probably be the next year but I cannot for the life of me slow down-- I always have the still small voice in the back of my mind saying "This might be the last you get to be here, with the ones you love- Leave nothing behind, take nothing for granted, do it all----- today.":guilty:

ORRRRRRRRR, maybe I'm just a type A personality that has to be in control of every second.

Yeah, I'm going with THAT.;)

DH goes next week to be fitted for the lens, after that they will schedule him for the surgery, better him than me I get the heebeejeebees just thinking about someone touching my eyes :rotfl:

I love it! I did all the class trips but DH was able to partake of a couple Boy Scout events, that gave him a new appriciation for volunteering also :rotfl:

Glad you got the A/C fixed , it has been hot and humid here and been running our A/C too.

Today it was the threat of tornados luckily they passed to the north , my one daughter in laws family had to take cover up in Mass but they are ok so far, another storm is coming

:scared1:

Sheila- the thought of someone touching my eyes freaks me out. I have a panic attack every year when the dr has to numb my eye and stick that machine on my eye ball.:eek::sick: He always laughs and it's over before I know it but by the time it's over I'm hyperventilating and saying "Hurry uuuuup!!!"

Stay safe in those storms--- I hope they pass you by quickly without anything happening.

Guess what I did today??? I went to work and sent DH on DS9's field trip to the zoo!! :rotfl: I figured it was about time he got in on some of the fun! ::yes:: Let's just say after a day with a bunch of 3rd graders at the zoo I think he has a new appreciation for my job and all my volunteering! :upsidedow:laughing:

It is still really really hot here. :faint: And of course our AC was not working last night. :sad2: But we got it serviced today.

:rotfl: My DH is the same way. He never really thinks about my job (keeping kids after school) as a "real job" until he has to spend a little time on the front lines! :lmao: And I used to teach 3rd grade a few years ago, so I know firsthand what his day was like! A field trip with elementary kids combined with the heat we had today would have done me in! :scared:

And why is it that the a/c always breaks on the hottest day of the year? :sad2: I wouldn't have slept a wink without it as hot as it's been lately. Poor thing! Hope you have a more comfortable night tonight.

Jo, I  the picture of your daughter with Mickey. Moments like that are priceless!

FIrst things first - Happy 3 months Jo!:banana::banana:

Second - that picture of Belle with Mickey is PRECIOUS! Just like in the advertising! I would have been in a puddle of tears!

My older DD got chosen for Belle's storytime once and was also Cogsworth! That was so cute!

I spent the afternoon at my kids' school for "play day" with K- 2 running a game out in the field. Luckily it was one of the most beautiful days we've had this year!!! But I've already forgotten how wacky and little kindergartners are! It's only been two years since I had one in kindergarten!
Tomorrow I get to do track and field games with grades 3-5. I imagine it will be much different.

Yes, yes, do Epcot next!!!! I love Epcot!:cheer2:

Good Morning everyone!

Hope you guys are not melting in this heat--- gaaack! I don't know how we will survive it in Florida! :) I'm not complaining--- really I'm not. I loathe cold temperatures-- I mean LOATHE-anything below 70 is freezing to me--- so I'm happy with this weather, but wow. It sorta has me scared for the trip since it's so hot already.

How much longer does everyone's kiddos have until school is out? We only have until Wednesday of next week. We were supposed to get out May 27th but we had so much snow that we had a lot of cancelled days. This year has been forever long.

I will post an Epcot update in a sec-- Shelly must be working since we haven't heard from her yet this morning. I can't wait to talk about Epcot-- it is such a wonderful place!:goodvibes
:rotfl: My DH is the same way. Thanks! I love that picture too. It always makes me smile.:lovestruc

And you're right about the A/C breaking on the hottest day of the year. Never fails.
FIrst things first - Happy 3 months Jo!:banana::banana:

Thanks for my 3 months banana dudes! :goodvibes Squeeeeeeee! My ticker starts with a 2 now!!! How exciting!

I hope your track and field day today is okay--- it will be so much fun to see the differences in the Kindergarteners vs the older ones. The older ones are always so competetive while the younger ones are out looking for bugs and such.

That picture of Belle---- You should have seen me that day--- I was a complete mess, sniffling and snorting.:lmao: And then I'm saying to myself---It's a MOUSE for heavens sake, so that I didn't come completely unglued as I'm apt to do at various times....:rolleyes1 I suppose I have a flair for drama or some such nonsense.:lmao:
It was definitely a complete and utter happy moment for us.:cloud9:

Your DD got chosen to be Cogsworth too!!!! Wasn't that the BEST? It was so dang cute--- I loved it.

Okay--- Let's do Epcot!!!!!!!!!!!!

Epcot

Why do we love it so?
I’ve often wondered myself.

I love Future World, although a lot of things that are there now aren’t considered too futuristic anymore.
Do we love the rides???
Spaceship Earth—
Floridagame1075.jpg

I know it’s slow.
It’s dark--- some say boring even, and a lot of people use it as a place to catch a nap. But I love it and can’t wait to ride it every time.
Floridagame594.jpg

Soarin’ of course is a family favorite. The kids think it is so neat to kick off the flip flops and wave their toe pigs as they ride, coming right back to the same place they left to retrieve their shoes. I love to try to see the hidden Mickey on the golf ball as it’s coming toward you. Good thing they don’t take your picture on that ride b/c I know I’d be cross eyed.

We have spent many long hours inside the Living seas- The dolphin show is adorable--
Floridagame626.jpg

A few years ago we went on Living with the Land for the first time and it’s now a favorite. I didn’t think I would enjoy it at all, but I did! Maybe I have a green thumb after all. (Tell that to my poor Sago Palm who is, as I write, dead on the deck. May he rest in peace.)

Test track would rank really high up there with all of us. I know that you go just as fast on the interstate, but somehow it just feels cooler in Florida. Isn’t that strange? Cooler in Florida.

Mission Space is a BIG no-no. I rode the orange side once and that was more than enough, considering I contemplated having them bring out oxygen for me afterwards. It isn’t the thought of going to mars or the moon or anywhere out in the wild blue yonder. I could befriend a Martian. It’s definitely the tight space that is enemy #1 for me.

World Showcase has special meaning to my DH, who went to HS in Belgium and has visited numerous places internationally. We love to meander thru the shops and countries, just walking and looking. It’s a peaceful feeling that you don’t get at the other parks.

We don’t necessarily have a favorite country- they are all wonderful to us.

So why do we love it? Is it the rides? The food? The experience in and of itself?

Perhaps it’s the magic….

~Was it the Dream fast passes we got in 2007?
~Or the Dream Fast passes we got in 2008??????
Floridagame689.jpg

~Maybe it was this--

2008 trip Halloween afternoon, we had been in the MK all day and hopped to Epcot. We had ADR’s for Le Cellier that night, our last night before we left. As we entered the park we were talking about how much fun the trip had been and how sorry we were to have it end. We stopped for a picture---
Floridagame1063.jpg

And that’s when a man in a “vest” approached us, asking if we were locals. We told him a little about ourselves- that it was our last night and we had come over for supper and maybe a ride or two if we could get on without much of a wait. He said that his name was Norman, that he worked for Guest relations and he wanted to do something special for our family. I looked at him dumbly- I knew that it was the Year of a Million Dreams and thought it might have something to do with that. He said that he knew where my mind was going and that it wasn’t part of the Dreams, it was just that sometimes they look to find people who seem to really be enjoying their trips and do something for them to make it even better for them.
He started out by handing the kids his lanyard and telling them to choose a few pins to keep, pointing out the “special” ones with a gleam in his eye.
Floridagame1067.jpg

He pulled out a packet and handed each of them a pin for them to remember the day. He then handed me pins with The Incredibles on them and I gave them to everyone to wear on their shirts. As we were pinning them on, he asked the kids what their favorite rides were in Epcot and they said Test track and Soarin’. He smiled and said “Follow me” and led the charge to Test Track.
Floridagame1064.jpg

We were all in shock, just following him along while we grinned ear to ear.
When we got to the ride, the standby line was at about 40 minutes. The FP line was actually a wait as well, probably about 15 minutes. We walked all the way up thru the FP line, walked right thru the room where you view the Movie before the ride, and straight up to where you get in the cars. We were all shocked and Norman kept making us all laugh and giving us the Thumbs up sign.

We got on with no wait at all and went for the ride of our lives, laughing and screaming. When it was over, the girl working the ride asked us “Want go again???” and I could see us getting lots of stares and evil looks. Belle yelled she’d had enough of it (sometimes too much of a good thing is... too much, Sigh. ) and we all sadly disembarked.

But Norman wasn’t finished with us yet.

He said Where to next? What do you want to ride now?
The kids yelled "Soarin!" And off we went. Mark and I were speechless at what was happening and followed Norman and the kids as they walked ahead of us, Norman quizzing the kids and their knowledge of WDW. He seemed adequately impressed with them and we walked all the way thru Soarin, Standby wait time at around 45 minutes. We walked up to where you get to stand on your little round disk and Norman told the girl working it that we would like to wait for the Best seats in the house, top row center. She said Okay! And put us into place. We had walked into and gotten on the ride in less than 4 minutes. It was magical.

When our ride over California was over, Norman told us that he had enjoyed being with us, and that it was time for him to go take his little boy trick or treating. With much gratitude, we thanked Norman and off he went, disappearing into the crowd. We all just stood there staring at him and one another. It ended the trip with such a bang that all other endings to trips are so sad now and just sort of fizzle out.

So why do we love it? I sort of think Epcot just kind of picked us, it’s not that we’ve necessarily picked it.
I like to think it’s the memories. Just being together as a family, doing what Walt Disney had envisioned so long ago.

So what will we do this trip???
All of it. Everything. Every ride, every country, every moment- just soaking it up.

And so with all of that said- you know our favorite time in Epcot? The absolute best time for us in the park??

After Illuminations is over when the crowds are streaming toward the exits and the heat of the pavement is there to remind you of the day that has passed-- at that moment, take a look around the quiet park.

What does it say to you?
To me, it says All is well, the end is truly a beginning. Tomorrow is a new day. Embrace it, and remember.

Loving your report...good job to both of you. I have read Shelly's reports before.

First off Congrates on 3 months!!!

I agree 100% about anyone touching my eyes.

Today is beautiful here 70's no humidity and a nice breeze those storms yesterday just blew all the hot humid weather away, but our neighbors in Ma truely got hit bad with the tornados :sad2:

Epcot is my favorite park too!!!

Your last day there truely was magical thanks to Norman :goodvibes

Love the Epcot update, Jodi! :thumbsup2 I love, love, love Epcot. Of course, I have some of the same fav attractions as most everyone - TT, Soarin', Spacehip Earth - to name a few. But World Showcase is where I could spend the entire day. I will most probably never leave North America ;), so this is my way of traveling abroad. I have learned of so many things in WS that I didn't even know about and completely missed. (Pick a Pearl, thanks Shelly!) Mostly, I like to do what you mentioned - just walking around and seeing all the buildings and shops. And I actually like the movies, too! Geography was always my favorite subject in school, so I really like the little tours that you get in the films. (If you weren't a fan of the movies before, you may become a fan if it's as hot there as it is here today) My Drew was chosen once (along with a little girl) to introduce the Beatles cover band in the UK. I would post a pic of that special memory if I wasn't such a computer dummy. :guilty:

What a special day y'all had to end your trip on! pixiedust: You must have felt like you were dreaming! I think when you get a surprise like that, it is so much better than when you go in hoping for something. I read posts where people are hoping for upgrades, or to be chosen for something, etc. When it happens out of the blue like it did for y'all, it is just indescribably special.

Love all the pics, even the orange and blue attire!

Awesome Epcot stories, Jo! Where was Norman when we were there? LOL

My Rylan is out of school next Thursday. We had enough snow days built into the school year, thankfully. The district did not, however, anticipate the kids being out last Friday after a nasty, tornado-producing storm blew through. Knocked out power to more than 30k people in our county, including in all the schools in our district. Fortunately, they are not going to have to make it up.

Jo, I absolutely agree with you on Epcot. We love it too! I would, however, like to see Future World get updated a bit. As you said, it isn't too futuristic anymore. We love Spaceship Earth, The Seas building, Soarin', LWTL, and TT, but the rest of FW doesn't do much for me. It just seems like a lot of wasted space up at the front of the park. Or maybe I just don't have an appreciation for some of the off the beaten path things???? I just always find myself wondering why there are only 5 attractions that we want to do in such a huge area as FW??? :confused3 I think there are at least 7 or so attractions there that could go altogether, but that is just my opinion.

BUT, we love every inch, every nook and cranny, every pavilion, every everything about World Showcase! It is so beautiful, and there is so much to take in for all the senses! :cloud9: It may be my very favorite place at WDW!

You have had some pretty great experiences at Epcot! Seems like most people have those magical moments at MK, but you definitely have it figured out at Epcot! :lmao:

Hello! :goodvibes

Yep, I got called into work again today. I just hate when work interferes with my DIS time. :headache::laughing:

So what's been going on around here today???

I see Jodi did her Epcot post!!!! :cool1: I knew she'd beat me to that one! :thumbsup2 Loved the post and pics Jo! :lovestruc You guys were so very lucky to be chosen by Norman! What a great ending to the trip.

I can't wait to get my behind back to Epcot!! :cloud9:

Jo, I  the picture of your daughter with Mickey. Moments like that are priceless!

The bus ride alone on the field trips is enough to do me in. :faint: I have DS12's field trip next week, so I knew I couldn't handle 2 bus rides!! :scared1:

Oh yes, the AC wasn't working on the 2 days it was 90-something degrees. It is fixed now and it is 70 today. :upsidedow

I spent the afternoon at my kids' school for "play day" with K- 2 running a game out in the field. Luckily it was one of the most beautiful days we've had this year!!! But I've already forgotten how wacky and little kindergartners are! It's only been two years since I had one in kindergarten!

Yes, yes, do Epcot next!!!! I love Epcot!:cheer2:

We had our Field Day at school on Tuesday. The hottest day ever!!!!! It was just miserable. I think it was like 94 and the humidity was so high. Gross. I don't know how I am going to be able to handle WDW this summer! :scared1: At least there will be AC to duck in and out of in the parks. Tuesday for field day we were outside in the direct sun for hours on end. :sad2:

Loving your report...good job to both of you. I have read Shelly's reports before.

Thanks and :welcome: to the PTR!!

I have learned of so many things in WS that I didn't even know about and completely missed. (Pick a Pearl, thanks Shelly!)

Thanks for reminding me of that Teri! :goodvibes I will have to dig out some pick-a-pearl pics for my Epcot post!

I agree with you. I'd like to see something new added to Future World. Not sure exactly what, but something.....

Hi Shelly and Jodi!:goodvibes
Sorry I haven't posted much lately...I have been so busy planning DD17's high school graduation party that's on Sunday!
Great MK updates!
Jodi....what a fabulous EPCOT memory! EPCOT is my favorite park.:goodvibes
Have a good weekend! I probably won't get on here much over the next few days! Can't believe my second daughter is graduating:sad2:

Wow Jodi! Not one, not two, but THREE magic experiences at Epcot! I'd agree that Epcot has chosen you! :thumbsup2

Jo, what beautiful words and pictures about Epcot! :goodvibes
We love it too.

Where in Belgium did your DH go to school? We are here now! We live outside of Mons. It will be fun to get back to Epcot with the kids old enough to remember what Europe looks like...I think they will have a greater appreciation of World Showcase. :thumbsup2

Morning everyone! Another scorcher here today-- gonna be about 95 with 75% humidity. Lovin IT.:lmao:

What's everyone doing this weekend? MC is having to study for finals- other than that we are going to be in the pool.

I have to run to the Post office and bank and such but I hope to hurry back and we can all chat if anyone is so inclined.:) Maybe Shelly will show and give us more Epcot to look at!:thumbsup2

Loving your report...good job to both of you. I have read Shelly's reports before.

Welcome and Thanks so much!!! I'm glad you're here!:goodvibes

Thanks for the 3 month congrats! It is going by fast now that it's hot out and we don't have to be cooped up watching the countdown calendar not move an inch.

Norman was a blessing, I tell ya! He made our trip so special.

Love all the pics, even the orange and blue attire!

What, don't you think Orange is my color?????:lmao: (I try not to wear it if I can help it....;) )

You know, every time we've had something happen for us in the parks it's been b/c we were just at the right place in the right time. I think if we had ever tried to force things to occur it wouldn't have been as special.
Norman told us that we wouldn't believe some of the unhappy, complaint- ridden people that they encounter and it makes them so happy to see a family just enjoying one another, that's why he started talking to us.
(really, though,as soon as we get to Epcot I am all smiles b/c I love it so much-- there's no way for me to be unhappy there!)

I wish you'd post a pic of your Drew with the Beatles band! You can do it-- didn't you learn on the Ev-No's??

And if you can't leave North America, then WS is the next best thing!:lovestruc I love the end of Maelstrom where you pull up to the little "Village" in Norway. I could sit in there all day. I'm always happy when they make you wait in there.:thumbsup2

Me and the girls have never done the Pick a Pearl so we are looking forward to doing that this trip-- I'm letting Drew pick out my big ugly oyster.;) Tinkerbell will be bringing the girls the carriages on our Epcot morning....:cloud9:

I think EVERYONE should have a Norman-- at least once!!!!!

Wow- you guys get out the day after us-- good thing they built in snow days. We didn't have enough built in and ended up being out for something like ten days. It was awful. They've changed the school schedule for next year though, so hopefully we won't have that happen again.

I too would love there to be some updates to FW. I still love it- but love WS more. Dang, wish we were there now.
Know what we've not done yet??? The Universe of Energy! Can you believe it?? It's getting done this trip!!

How did you know I'd post mine before you did yours????:rolleyes1
You know I'd talk Epcot everyday if I could.
So post yours and give me an Epcot fix today....

Glad your AC is finally fixed, even if it's cooler now- cause you KNOW it's going to be hot and PGH sticky very soon.

And as far as WDW and the heat--- thank goodness for the shops with AC!!!:cloud9:
Hi Shelly and Jodi!:goodvibes
Sorry I haven't posted much lately...I have been so busy planning DD17's high school graduation party that's on Sunday!
Great MK updates!
Jodi....what a fabulous EPCOT memory! EPCOT is my favorite park.:goodvibes
Have a good weekend! I probably won't get on here much over the next few days! Can't believe my second daughter is graduating:sad2:

Hi Lauren! Glad you were able to catch up! Hope you guys have a great weekend and Congrats to your DD!

Wow Jodi! Not one, not two, but THREE magic experiences at Epcot! I'd agree that Epcot has chosen you! :thumbsup2

Yeah, Epcot--- everything exciting happens to us there!:lmao:
Okay so I forgot to tell you all this as well--
One trip I was in a bathroom near TT and came out of the stall to see these two girls talking to one another- no one else was in there b/c it is an out of the way bathroom. Anyway, I thought they looked familiar but didn't pay much attention to them.
So I walk outside and ask Mark if he'd seen the girls that had just left, he said yes, and said they looked familiar to him too.
Later in the day I went BACK to that bathroom, just b/c I like it there, it's peaceful--- and one of those girls was coming out and walked off with what was a very large man in tow. Large as in very muscular.
Um, yeah, it was Ashley Tisdale and the other girl that had been with her earlier was Monique Coleman. I didn't even know their names and had to call the kids and ask them who they were. :faint:

I won't even go into the time we ran into Corbin Bleu and had no clue who he was at all.

I blame it on Mark--- he's a star magnet.... always meets people that are famous. Me, not so much.

:thumbsup2

Wow--- you're in Belgium!!! He lived in Mons I believe--- his Dad was AF, this was a long time ago, though. He is always wanting to go back and take us to see it all again. I'd love to do that too. When will you get to leave Belgium?
