Who's done Disneyland and WDW...

Have to agree with the above poster. Also, POTC better in DL, TT better at MGM, HM the same. Overall I liked the "closeness" of DL but MK is so grand!

There are so many unique things to each park.

For me - Disneyland has New Orleans, It's A Small World, Pirates of the Carribean, The original Tiki Room, Indiana Jones, The Original Fantasmic, The Blue Bayou, Water under Dumbo, Casey Jr. Circus Train Main Street Bakery.

The Magic Kingdom for me has their version of the Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion, I love the two seater logs on Splash Mountain, Alladins magic Carpets, Philharmagic, Tomarrowland Transit (Peoplemover), Pecos Bill's and Cinderella's Castle.

I liked the prices better at Disneyland! :rotfl: We got a 5 day pass, and I can't remember exactly how much it was, but it wasn't bad at all compared to WDW.

You can also get an inexpensive hotel within walking distance of the park (we stayed at the Candy Cane Inn which also had a breakfast in the mornings).

At the parks there are some differences. One thing we loved was that we got to try out a Segway (for free!). We also like the restaurant with Ariel (I think it was called Ariel's Grotto or something like that). The California park has the MOST WONDERFUL SHOW of any of the parks--the Aladin Show. It is really something! The theater is really nice!

Toon Town is cuter at Disneyland.

There is a Snow White show at Disneyland that is very nice.

NOW.....at WDW the resorts are nicer (for the most part, the new California resort at DL is nice and it is cool how you can just walk right into the park from your hotel).

WDW has more parks (like MGM, AK and Epcot), so there is much more to do and see.

WDW has more out of park things (like DisneyQuest, Hoop Dee Doo Review, Cirque, Boardwalk, boating, waterparks, mini golf).

WDW has more restaurants with many more choices of character meals.

WDW has various evening shows (at DL there is the Fantasmic show at DL and the Electric Parade at the California Park).

You know, both places are nice, but if you could only go to one, WDW has much more to offer. If you can visit them both, then go! It is worth it!

Disney Land is great but we love Disney World! Much more to see and and do. We did get a kick out of how small the castle was at Disney Land.
Both places are wonderful to visit!

They are both magical in their own way. We too really liked walking from our hotel to the parks. They are smaller parks and everything is much more accessible - not buses or waiting for transportation. Indiana Jones is tons of fun, and Soarin' is our all time favorite ride, but now that its at Epcot...

As others have stated, Disneyland is so much smaller then Disney World. Being able to walk from your hotel to the park is pretty cool. Being able to walk out of the front of Disneyland and across the plaza to California Adventure is super cool.

As far as attractions/shows go, I would say that POC is much better in Disneyland. The restraunt in POC (Blue Bayou I think is the name) is a great restraunt with an even better view. Fantasmic is a much better show then the MGM version. We did the Fantasmic Dessert viewing and got to watch the show a balcony in New Orleans Square while we enjoyed the finest desserts found in Disneyland. Over in California Adventure, you have California Screamin', a great coaster and don't forget Grizzly Rapids, much better then Kali.

We took the "Walk In Walt's Footsteps" tour while we were there and got a great walking tour of the park and a nice lunch afterwards.

Disney World has much more to offer due to it's sheer size advantage over Disneyland but I really think that taking a trip to the place that started it all is something that every Disney fan should do at some point.

Like many here said, Disney World is more appealing in the sense that there is def. more to do and see both in the parks and outside the parks. However, we enjoyed the fact that at Disneyland we could walk easily from our hotel GC to downtown Disney and both parks. This was a nice treat from all the walking you do at WDW.

I agree that Indiana Jones at DL was fun and we wish it was at DW also. Again, as many have already stated they both have their positive sides and unique "magic". :wizard:

Been to both, DL as stated before the Indiana Jones ride is great and I did love New Orleans Sq. I am glad we did go to DL but love WDW better. Much more to do and see, the resorts are nicer too. Even my DD(17) loves WDW better.

Fantasyland in DL kicks WDW's butt! There are probably double the amount of attractions, so if you have little kids, that is a great place. I also loved the Matterhorn and the different gun style at Buzz Lightyear. I would honestly say that Disneyland and DCA is a great place to visit for 3-4 days, but not a complete vacation. WDW is a complete vacation that can keep you entertained for over a week.

In Disneyland I love: the Matterhorn, the Blue Bayou, Indiana Jones and the Disneyland hotel.

In WDW I love: the 4 different parks, the shows, the "total" vacation.

If anyone has a chance I think you should go to both just too see all that both have to offer.

At Disneyland, I like the Matterhorn. It's not only a fun ride, but visually appealing as well.

At WDW, I appreciate the many options for table service meals and the terrific resorts.

Both are fun parks and well worth visiting. WDW, however, offers more of a vacation resort experience that Disneyland.

We like WDW Florida better. However, there were things about Disneyland that were better. For instance, POC...the ride is much longer and we loved the entrance area where the Blue Bayou restaurant is right there (we ate there too...it was great), there are fireflies all around. Very nice. Fantasyland at DL is much better - more attractions and I like the outside entrances. Big Thunder Mountain seemed a bit faster or something, I can't put my finger on it. Indiana Jones...ohmygosh - it is fabulous!

Now, the Haunted Mansion and Splash are better @ WDW.

All this said, the Florida property has the most appeal because of the location. DL isn't secluded - in fact you can see the "real world" from atop many of the attractions. You turn right off of crazy Harbor Blvd. into the parking lot. No mystique about it. It's really not fair to compare the two - DL has it's own special magic because of Walt's heavy involvement. But, WDW Florida is a whole city within itself.

I haven't been to DL since 2003 so a few things have changed....

DL has Indiana Jones which is a great attraction. The Alladin show was also very good. I liked Alice in Wonderland and the Storybook Canal Boats too. Toontown was much better! I enjoyed Roger Rabbit. I also liked Winnie the Pooh better in DL. I did enjoy walking from park to park.

WDW has size! I love the feeling of complete immersion that you get there, it is hard to get that at DL. The restaurants are much better at WDW and the resorts. I like the feeling of being on a vacation, not just a day trip. The sheer volume and size of WDW makes it a more complete vacation destination for me.

It was great to visit the park where it all began, but WDW wins out for me.

i think that mickeys toon town is a million times better at disneyland, anaheim.

i thought that florida would be better. all it seems to be is a walkway with mickeys house and goofy's brainstormer.

also the indiana jones ride in disneyland is amazing.

Let's see -

DL -has Matterhorn, Toontown, Buzz with different gun style , outside Small World, Indy Jones, the canoes that you paddle yourselves. DL is very fun to go to...

But WDW is my DVC "home" - OKW, BCV, 4 parks, lots more to do..

But as LukenDC said "Both are fun parks and well worth visiting. WDW, however, offers more of a vacation resort experience that Disneyland."

We loved how close everything is a DL. We stayed at the GCH and were spoiled being able to walk right into the park and across the esplanade to DL and back to DCA. No busses!! As long as DD stays on her competitive dance team, we will be going to DL every summer.

However I love the resort feel of WDW. I also love the dining choices and the theming of the resorts.

They are both so unique.
