Who's at work today....................

I at work today (I'm not working, nothing to do. But I'm here!). We're hopping they'll let us go at 2:30, but it's not guaranteed. Basicly if the one person at the executive level that is here today wants to go home early, then they'll let us go (if we're open then one person at the executive level MUST be here, too). But I really can't complain, they are giving us both Christmas Day and the day after (Tue) off next week, plus we get New Years Day off the week following, too.

 ME!!! The A/P department started leaving at 11 and after that a domino effect has started. I have to wait for my boss to come back from lunch to see if I can leave early today. He may just say go or wait until 4:30.

Sometimes being a receptionist is hard :badpc:

I left, got the mail, cleaned the house, and now I am back. The thing that needs to happen has not happened. I am going to work on a couple of things, and if it doesn't happen, I am going to go home and stop back by again a little later.

I have a project I should be working on, but I would rather DIS instead.

I am not working on Tuesday, but I may have to pop in and get a few things done.

Denae

I'm at work, but I'm leaving at 3 instead of my usual time of 4. I am using vacation time for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, otherwise I'd be due back in on Tuesday.

I'm a receptionist too, and I know what you mean!

There was a rumor going around the office that corporate was thinking of dismissing us early - they did that on the day before Thanksgiving. I guess HR's meeting with the owner didn't go well, because our local HR rep, who I also assist, passed on the word that we are NOT going home early. 1/2 the office is out today anyway, it's just silly!

We do have New Year's Day off though in addition to Christmas Day, so that's two Mondays in a row.

I'm here.

Getting ready to wrap some presents!

I don't think we'll get off early. Someone has to be here until 5:00 and it is only 2 of us and 1 manager.

We are opened Tuesday, but I have Tuesday and Wednesday off! :sunny:

I did get the ok to leave at 4. But my boss is the type that wants front desk coverage regardless. So if I leave any earlier than 4:30 (I usually leave at 5), I have to make sure there is coverage. On a regular day, yeah, that makes sense. But on a day like today, what's the point :confused3 Practically everyone has gone home except for our purchasing dept and a few straglers. The phones have only rung twice this afternoon and it was the same person looking for the same dept.

cybrkitn: Same thing here about getting front desk coverage. I even have to call someone up for backup coverage every time I have to use the restroom. It gets very annoying - I joke that I am shackled under the desk!

We close at 4:30, but that is our usual closing time. I keep hoping the corporate office will change their mind!

Im stuck here till 5pm
boss left at 130 - worked my butt off all week so i could relax now
getting caught up on the internet then i have another small project
still have my lunch break so i'll be out of here for a while

Here until 6:00. Lots of people are out so it's quiet. I'm getting my DIS in before it goes down. What will I do after 5:00???? :rolleyes1

I am here untill 3, work tomorrow from 1-3ish and then I finally get 2 days off in a row! Sunday and Monday both weekends, I am so excited! Hopefully the laptop works good tomorrow so I dont have to drive in. (I wish we had a crossed fingers smiley.) I'll be back on Tuesday with out much to do as my contacts will have the whole week off at the brewery.

I am the only one at my office today too...only I knew it before today. So, I brought my son and some movies and have not had much to do today. Luckily, we can leave in a few minutes.

I used to have to do the same thing when my office was the HQ. But since all the top people had to move to VA to the new HQ, it has laxed (if that's a word, lol).

We don't go anywhere for the holidays- and my colleagues know it! Our university is officially "shut down" for a week. The Assoc. Director of research, the Research Dean, the Animal Care Technician-all gone for vacation. Littlel ol' me...the faculty member who oversees the animal research depts. Yep, I am at work. Someone in administration thought it would be wise to have the electricians and plumbers work on the air handling/cooling systems in our research buildings over this break. Great for humans....not so great for animals. I am at work today checking on things and hoping they don't screw anything up. Good news is that the electricians and plummers won't work the weekend or Christmas. They WILL be back on Tuesday, and so will I. And technically, I am not paid to work this period- this counts as my vacation!!!

Last time this happened was over the 4th of July holiday period and they DID screw things up and we ended up with a major heat emergency....worked 18 consecutive hours starting on the 3rd trying to get things under control. To circumvent that, I went by the 'guys' as they were working and growled at them...told them Santa would come back and take their gifts back and make their teams lose in football if they screwed anything up!!! Hopefully I scared them 'good'!!!!
