Whoops...got child ticket instead of adult

I think I must have been flying on automatic...the day before the price increase (just by luck), I ordered two adult and two child 1-day 1-park tickets from Undercover Tourist. Except my oldest is now 12!

We plan to get there early so we can book it to Harry Potter first thing, but I guess I'll need to swing an adult upgrade on one of the tickets first. Where would be the ideal place to do this before park open?

Any chance I'll get to keep my discount?

i don't believe you will be penalized when you switch the ticket from child to adult.
it was an honest oops on your part.

i don't even know if they would make you pay the difference.

guest services opens 30 minutes prior to park opening.


why don't you call or send an email to guest services before you leave on your trip and ask them the best and easiest way to do this switch.

tell them you don't want to be delayed for using the early entry for parry hotter the first day you go.

What is the age for child vs adult at Universal?

Just wanted to clarify...we don't have "early entry", we just want to be there early to be at the front of the line (last time we were there, we got to be the opening family, and had a head start over everyone ).

You will be charged even if it was an honest mistake. If it gets upgraded for free, then that is a random act of kindness that normally does not happen. Be prepared to pay for the upgrade. It is better to be prepared.

since the op bought the tickets before the increase, i doubt he will have an issue if he changes it to adult from child.
sounds like he has the paperwork to prove the ticket was purchased prior to the price increase.

since you have only one day tickets, if the TM does not allow him/her to use that ticket at the gate, then go to guest services for further changes.

I think Little Mermaid meant that you are charged the difference between an adult ticket and a child's ticket, not that they would lose their discount. The difference in price between an
adult and child ticket is around $6 for a one day/one park ticket.

Right...when I was referring to the discount, I was referring to the price I paid UT for the tickets vs. the gate price - which, frankly for these is about $1-2. I'd also rather not have to pay for the price increase directly either.

I wasn't referring to the "child" discount.

The "Disney" way, I'd pretty much be out of luck - I can't use it in advance to get price bridging, so I'd have to basically pay the price of the current Adult ticket less what I originally paid (I DO have the receipt, in case they don't know what I paid, like is the case with Disney and discounter tickets).

Is there a recommended place to take care of this? Is there somewhere at the Hub, or right outside IOA?

We've only been though the area once before (my other trips were part of a private event and we bypassed the entrance).

guest services in the park or outside the park will help you.
guest services are located at/outside each park.
the outside locations are before the entrance sections to the parks.

Isn't that where the parking lot entrances meet before heading to Citywalk?

But yes...I've only been to Universal twice as a normal tourist in recent years, once to US and once to IOA, so I don't exactly have the lay of the land down yet.

And, it's going to be during a peak week

Thanks...I know how to get where I'm going, I'm more looking for the easiest/fastest place to deal with the ticket issue before park open.

if you are going to IOA, walk towards the entrance gate but veer to the right.

before you get to the turnstiles, go to the building on your right.


first aid, guest sevices, etc in those buildings.


there are signs to show you they are there.
you can't miss it.
