Whole wheat buns substituted for white ones

hey everyone,

I'm in the process of planning a trip for my parents and am looking into food options. My dad has Crohn's disease and cannot eat whole wheat breads. I know last year Disney switched all counter service burgers and hotdogs to whole wheat rolls. Are white ones still available if you request them or are there no options?

When Disney made that switch I never thought twice about it really but it could make things complicated.

The buns are actually mixed with whole grains if that makes a difference. They are predominantly white flour with some whole wheat, rye, sunflower seeds, etc mixed in. They will show you the ingredients if you ask. But anyway they do have locations at each park where they carry allergy safe buns that are mostly made of tapioca and look like white bread. It takes a few minutes for them to heat these from frozen but that may be your best option if you want food with whiteish buns. They are made by ener-g if you want to look up the ingredients. The regular pizza crusts are also whole grain (the flat bread crusts used at some deluxe resorts are white bread but have large pieces of spices in the crust if that matters) but again they do have an allergy safe alternative which is an ener-g rice crust. If you email special diets at wdw they will send a list of products and locations.

I know when they made the switch we had some posters ask about getting white buns. They were told no, they no longer have any in stock. I doubt this has changed. The allergy free buns may be your best bet.

It's not counter service, but the burger bun at Beaches & Cream is not made from the whole grain mix. My dd is allergic to soy (in the whole grain mix, sigh) and was really wanting a burger. Special Diets helped us out

Thanks for the info! The whole grains are actually worse for him as would be the rye and seeds. Thanks also for the heads up on the pizza crust!
