Do They sell whole Milk on the parks?? If not what do you parents do that have 1 year olds drinking whole milk? We will have a fridge but for the parks I'm not sure I trust a cooler pack for all day? Also what do you do about flights? I know all about liquids in security with an infant- we traveled with him quite a bit. But we haven't had any flights during whole milk time. Do you just use a cooler pack with the milk? Is there usually whole milk for sale past security? Thanks!

We traveled last summer when my DD was 13 months. They are only supposed to have 16-24 oz of milk a day, that was 3 Sippy cups for us. So we bought milk at the resort to keep in our room, and had a sippy of milk in the room before we left, a Sippy when we returned for a nap, and one before bed, but sometimes would find milk to buy in the parks if we needed to. 2% milk is fine on a vacation if you can't find whole.

At the airport we brought empty Sippy cups and bought milk after security.

I would buy whole milk to keep in room and just give water (or even juice...) in the parks. I assume at 1 they are still napping, so would you be taking a mid day hotel break? Then you can offer the milk before/after nap?
IIRC, a 1-2 year old should be drinking no more than 16-24 oz of whole milk a day - so if it's offered at breakfast(4-6 oz), lunch(4-6 oz) and dinner/bedtime (4-6 oz) that would be plenty.

Most airports have milk for sale after security. I've picked up cups of whole milk from coffee shops. Just ask for a plain cup of milk even if it's not on the menu.

We bought milk to keep in the room at the resort. A cup in the morning, a cup when we returned for the afternoon and a cup before bed. I only carry water in the parks and the kids were fine.

They make packets of milk that don't need refrigeration (like a juice box). They also make toddler formula (enfagrow, etc.). Check TSA rules, but I am pretty sure you can carry those things through security if you have a child under 2. I would bet the formula would be no problem. They also make toddler formula in little packets you could add to bottled water.

I would just offer water in the parks or 2% milk.

My pediatrician said 2% milk is fine for one year olds (and my kids are small/skinny)!

Organic Valley makes a whole milk single serve box. I don't know how easy they are to find, as we did the 2% ones when we traveled. They should have a tool on their website.

Be sure to check out the boxes of milk before you go if you plan to use them. Our DS refused to drink them. Found out at bedtime on a trip in the mountains, no where near a grocery store:rolleyes:.

I agree with pp...A vacation with 1 or 2% isn't going to hurt a baby...Just give him whatever they have at that particular restaurant. If he doesn't like it - let him have water or juice. A week isn't going to ruin his bones or growth for the future.
