Whoah! We had to pay for lunch today! The Horror! 10/9/11 MR Anniv. Cruise TR UPDATED

:lmao: You two sound like a ridiculously amazing couple! Can't wait to hear more! :yay:

ETA: Yay for food porn!

We just did the same thing with our 2013 points. We will be using those for our cruise in March of 2013. We went through the exact same reasoning, its funny that we arent the only ones who think like that. we live in Orlando, so no airfare, drive to the port and hop on the ship.

So I am jumping the gun here...what time did you arrive back in port at San Pedro and were able to get off the ship?

We were on the MR from 09/25/11. We were given luggage tags on our last day. Ours were Donald Duck. The tags are to be put on your bags and left outside your room by 10.30 on the last night and you just take with you what you are going to carry off. Your luggage tags also represent when you are going to get off the ship. Those that get off first are those with flights etc. We were driving and therefore we were in the penultimate group to get off, but I think we were still off the ship by around 10am. Once you have had breakfast you just wait until one of the many tv screens (if you can't hear the tannoy) displays your tag.

I don't know if the sequence of tags remains the same for every cruise or not.

Hope that helps.

I am loving your trip report so far!! We were on that cruise as well! We originally planned on doing the FE & I began connecting with others on the meet board for our cruise - & then life kind of interrupted me & my DIS/cruise plans. My hubby lost his job about a month away from the cruise & we also had an offer on our house that was for sale & found out we had to move right after the cruise :scared1:.....so....I had to bow out of the FE (very regretfully)....:sad2: I was hoping to still keep active on the boards & go to the meet - but things were just too crazy in "the real world". My DH kept looking at me funny whenever I tried to sneak on the computer & indulge in some DIS pre-cruise fun....what?? You mean you want me to help you pack those boxes? Whoops...I didn't know. :rotfl:

I have snuck back on the boards to help ease my major post-cruise blues. I think reading your trip report may just help me out here. I have finally just stopped swaying & spinning from getting off of the ship (I had it back this time for some reason...)....but I am still shocked every night when my family expects me to - gasp - prepare food for them. :scared1: What is this about anyhow? I am not ready for reality yet!

I'm looking forward to reading the rest....popcorn:: Thank you so much for sharing!

Nicole

I like the way you two think!
LOL Thanks! We're a bit quirky in our logic and spontaneous with our plans, but it works for us, so we roll with it. :rotfl:

hehe, well, I don't know about amazing, but --- we have yet to kill one another and we find our way together so it all comes together. Sometimes, I think he wishes I was a bit more "traditional" in planning and reasoning, but that would just make life boring. He knows what he's got (after 20 years together) and we find our balance of adventure and making sure the "have tos" are taken care of along the way.

Food porn? Oh, just you wait! Seven days of, "Wait! Don't eat that yet!" - snap a quick picture - "Okay, enjoy. You know, DIS needs food porn pics." :lmao: Honestly, lucky he hasn't killed me!

Cant loose those DVC points!! Cruise sounds good to me.
Oy vey! It was ridiculous how we had to talk ourselves into it. Sometimes, the logical answer isn't always the best. We have the points... and more are coming in June... and next June. And next June. And... :upsidedow

Love it! I miss spontaneity! (kids will do that to ya!)
Thanks! As I mentioned in my intro, we dearly want children and they have not been in our cards which has been a huge source of sorrow, but there are some advantages and we use them when we can. :wizard: (Although, truth be told, I'd give up spontaneity in a second to be able to have little ones of our own. Enjoy.)

Yay! There's other cra- errr, logical people out there thinking just like us! March, 2013? Ahhh, the waiting would kill me! Fun times ahead for you!

Glad you enjoying the read so far! (Had no clue if anyone would get my quirky sense through a computer screen!) So sorry to hear about the rough times recently. Believe me when I tell you that I understand more than you know. This cruise was an escape from reality for us -- and it was wonderful! Trust me, I get it. :goodvibes DH told me I was insane for doing the meet, the FE, etc... but I needed to find a way, for the spirit. Glad you have "snuck" back on the boards. They help make real life palatable somedays. :surfweb:

I have to address this part of your comment separately:

Okay, the swaying! Since you mentioned it.... I did not have one SECOND of seasickness. I wore the patch and it works FABULOUSLY! However, it is now 7 days - SEVEN - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 days since we have been home. And as I type this, the couch is doing a very gently forward and back swaying. S E V E N days! Granted it sort of makes the cruise last longer, but it needs to stop! Seriously...... Anyone else get it this long??? :confused3

And yeah, we still haven't gone to a grocery store. (It's that no kid thing!) :rotfl:

I can provide you with a list of all sorts of ways to come up with dinner for your family without cooking it! Going on day seven! :wizard:

Thanks everyone for following along. I know I am overdue for the next installment, but it's been the whole, unpacking, laundry, working, eh, who am I kidding, I've been catching up on sleep, bonding with the pup (our baby), and looking at cruise photos, trying to pretend our cruise has not ended (and yet I realized tonight that the NEXT cruise is pulling back into port in a few hours as their wonderful week concludes!). :upsidedow

I told you I've never really done one of these before... Knowing you all are actually reading this is keeping me going! Thanks for sticking around!

Gotta sub on here too... You're one of my faves here Dreams ;) Glad to hear it sounds like you had an awesome trip! Can't wait to hear the rest.

Your trip sounds exactly like what we have planned for ours, except we're celebrating birthdays instead of an anniversary. We're sailing on the Wonder in a couple weeks, no kids. We're using our DVC points. DH will be turning 40 a couple weeks after we return and I will be 38 on the cruise. We're doing DL for his birthday.

We've already been to PV and Cabo on a previous cruise and have no plans to get off the ship. We plan on soaking up all that the Wonder has to offer in relaxation ... I'm just hoping that everyone else going is getting off the ship in ports so we can have the ship almost to ourselves! We've got Palo booked X2 already. I was thinking of adding the Tea too ...

Did you do any spa treatments? I was thinking of waiting until we get on the ship to book those and possibly take advantage of some spa discounts for port days since we don't have any plans for port days.

Are the suggested tips included when you use points? We were just recently thinking about that. This is our first DCL cruise on points, and I haven't called to ask yet. We're OK with it either way, just wondering.

Looking forward to reading more since your cruise sounds so similar to what we are planning for ours. It'll be like deja vu for me when I go! :rotfl:

I've got less than a week and need some new MR trip report info to help me pass the time 'till this weekend.

I agree with you on trading spontaneity for the opportunity to have children! We tried for a long time to have biological kids, and finally decided adoption was right for us. Now we have 2 little beauties from Ukraine, just the family we always wanted.

Looking forward to more of your report!

I don't want to be a party pooper - but I had the dreaded "mal de debarquement" for two months afterwards! :scared1: I was getting worried so I looked up on the internet (because the medical info there is so reliable;)) and it turns out that although mal de d may not affect everyone, it is more common in women over 40 with a history of migraines. Great - just paint a bulls-eye on my forehead why dontcha?

The good news is that just when I thought I was going to be swaying forever, the sensation just kind of gradually went away. So there's hope yet!

I do so wish we lived near the water - Colorado is a long way for a last minute trip (though I did that for a Canadian all inclusive train trip last spring :). Looking forward to a whole family trip (adult kids/grandkids) on the Magic on Dec 10 :) - 1st cruise for the family - first Disney for DH and me.

First of all I love love love this TR. It is so much fun to read. I will be on the Holiday 8 day MR cruise and I am so looking forward to it.

I also spent many years and many dollars trying to have a biological child. I ended up getting divorced so it worked out better in the long run becuase I have no ties with my crazy ex. Then several years later I too adopted my sons. Mine were adopted out of the local foster care system, not that I think there is a better method to adopt you have to pick what's best for you.

I am equally blessed to have been given our cruise as a gift, so while I am waiting so very (NOT) patiently for our cruise to come I am reading TRs. Again I love this one, you have a very similar personality to mine and my sister. So I get a good chuckle when I read your TR.

OOPs had to opne windows and posted the wrong post here. LOL! I am joining in...I hope the move went wel land you can find time to update us.
