I know there was a baseball movie called Bang the Drum Slowly, starring Robert DeNiro and Michael Moriarty from the early 70's, but I don't know if there another origin bedises that

Here is the wikipedia reference for Bang The Drum Slowly, a book by Mark Harris which was made into a 1973 movie starring Michael Moriarty and Robert DeNiro. The title comes from the song Streets of Laredo, which is sung in the film. Johnny Cash also recorded a version of that song
