Who wins the resort battle in your family???

Unfortunately you can't split your stay when you do a My Way package with dining. And that's the type of package we are doing.

 The Checking Account wins the resort battle in our house. It has full say in when we can stay in a resort at Disney, where we can stay, for how long and how many times a year we can visit. I really hate to give such an object so much power, but that is the way it is!

I think it is telling us that if we stay onsite at all this year, it will have to be Pop Century. Oh well... at least we haven't stayed there yet, so we can add it to our list! :teeth:

So far, the Checking Account has allowed us to stay at:
Port Orleans Riverside (1st 2 times at Dixie Landings) 3 times-- spring 1993, summer 1998, summer 2003
The Wilderness Lodge- winter 2000
The Contemporary- winter 2002
The Caribbean Beach Resort- spring 2002
Port Orleans French Quarter- fall 2002
All Star Movies- summer 2003
The Polynesian- fall 2004

That stinks. If you have already stayed at the Poly and haven't WL..... let him have his way.... it's not like you'll never go back!!

Disney usually makes the decision for us, depending on codes, and discounts ::MickeyMo

No- We usually talk about it, and decide as a family. The kids are easy, and get excited about anywhere, once we talk it up and show them pictures.

As for DH and I, we would stay anywhere, but all-star. They just don't appeal to us.

We usually stay in the moderate resorts, but are giving Pop a try this trip. If a great deal comes along in the next couple of weeks :rolleyes1 , before our final payment is due, we will consider other options. But right now, we are exctied about going to Pop, :cool1: and ecstatic, to go bakc to Disney so soon.

:hourglass

We've already stayed at both, and really liked both. I just prefer the Poly for my own personal reasons. But if we insists on the WL I'm not going to be unhappy.

Since we always want to try different places it's usually not a problem. When the planning starts, it's more like someone saying that they would like to stay somewhere in particular. Codes and DVC point availability do have some say on it, but we have never really have had a battle as of yet, and after all is said and done everyone is usually really happy.

How can we not be? We're at Disney!

I make the final decision (as planner) BUT before I call Disney, I get a list of resorts that the family is interested in. Then, I call and find out the prices and availability and select the one that fits the price I am working with for this vacation and is one someone wanted to stay at. This is actually fun, because we often start out selecting a moderate but end up at a deluxe because the rates work out. Best lucky call: picked POFQ, booked at a great rate and then they closed POFQ for rehab and we got bumped to the Grand Floridian for just $60 more a night. What made it even better was that the kids originally wanted to stay at GF and I basically said no, we would never be able to afford GF and then we ended up staying there for 7 nights!

We are DVC members and we always stay @ a DVC resort sun-fri with a stay @ a delux wed - sat prior! We take 2 trips per year! ( always spring break and fall break) I always pick our DVC resort because my Dh doesn't have a clue how DVC actually works! :rotfl: But, I am losing the Delux battle this trip! :sad2: He always picks Contemp tower or WL! I always pick Poly or GF! Our up-coming trip is 4 nights at WL followed by 5 nights at VWL ! I would have chosen Poly!!! :sad2: Happy batteling! :cheer2:

We never argue about resorts. We love OKW and prefer that over any other resort. Find a common ground! ;)

What is it with men and the WL???? ;) You guys are in the same situation we are. Splitting with WL and VWL is totally something my dh would come up with I'm sure. Boy that's a real change of scenery!!!! :rotfl: I am hoping this poll will convince dh to do the Poly... but in the end I know he'll choose and I'll give in.

GMAC Mortgage
GMAC Insurance
Xcel Energy
Minnegasco
Cub Food or Simon Delivers
Comcast

and the list goes on.....I don't get to choose...the above-mentioned parties choose for me! :confused3

::yes::
Ours are:
Country Wide Mortgage
Progressive Energy
Sprint
Lake county water
Brighthouse
etc, etc, etc!!!!!

Since the Checking Account takes care of them and our choice of accomodations, he (CA) gets to make the final decision!

I do! I do all the planning and booking, so I have the overall say.

This time my dad wants WL, my DH wants the Polynesian and I want the Contemporary. So far, it's still the CR until codes/AP rates are released. Then, maybe DH will have his way. But I really want the CR. I've always wanted to stay there. I also miss the GF....I'll get back there someday.

Oh my goodness!!! Look at those lillypie tickers!!!! I can remember when you announced on the board you were pg with your "little prince" and now he's 2 1/2!!!!! Where does the time go. :) And my namesake is already 7 months old!!!! I just can't believe it.

I usually do but this time I am being a big girl and letting the DH and DD do it! I wanted the Poly but they have decided on AKL! :cool1:

We can't decide that's why we split our stays between resorts. LOL. This year we are doing the Boardwalk Villas (5 nights), All Star Movies (2 nights) and the Villas at WL (5 nights).

We are going in Oct for my son's 16th B-day so he got to choose the resort. BWI (He has very good taste) Also his great-grandpa :love2: is paying for the 16 days of disney which includes a cruise! YAHOO!!! :cheer2:

I do. . . . . sort of. I do all the research, planning, etc. DH doesn't care where we stay as long as I take care of all the details. Of course our last trip to WDW was for a conference for DH, so I resort hopped 2 days checking out all the resorts & taking lots of pictures of them. That might not have been such a great idea because after my DS's saw the pictures they began asking about staying at some different places (they had never really cared before). Well, the only reason my choices were picked this time (note that I say choices ~ we're splitting the stay b/c even I couldn't choose) is because my DM stays in our room so we have to stay at a resort that sleeps 5.

After checking out many of the different resorts on my last trip, I don't think you could really go wrong. I liked different aspects of all of them. Hope you have a great trip!
