Who was your favorite teen idol?

My sister and I thought the Monkees were so cute...I always liked Peter the best.

Interesting that no one is saying Michael Jackson, although he was a contemporary of many of the other folks mentioned. Is it that no one liked him, or is everyone too creeped out by his current persona to admit that they liked him as a teen?

I was a really big fan of him when Thriller came out. I was in elementary school so I didn't really have a crush on him the way I did with other stars when I was older. I did have a bunch of posters and other things with his picture on it, but I liked his music far more than I liked his face. (which I guess would even be more true now that he doesn't look natural the way he did during Thriller  ) With most of the teen idols, I liked both their faces and their talent equally (if not a little more partial to their faces ;))

I am actually 2 years older than Michael Jackson so I thought he was just so CUUUUUUTE when he was singing at the age of 9. At the OLD age of 11 he was just a KID to me! I actually had a crush on his now defunct brother, Tito!

Actually my BIGGEST crush was on a seldom mention icon, Sajid Khan, who was on Maya with Jay North. He was 16 when I was 11 and I remember thinking he was soooo OOOOLD!! Now I look at him and see Fez from the 70s Show!!

Andy Gibb,
Leif Garrett(spelling),
Shawn Cassidy
Davey Jones
Liked the one guy off of Emergency too! I cannot remember his name.

I also loved Barry Manilow, I guess I still Like him because I still listen to his music.

Johnyy Gage and Roy DeSoto (from Emergency)
The FONZ
John Schneider (Bo Duke)
Scott Baio

My DD8 is hooked on Full House, and John Stamos... even though I try to tell her he is older than her dad! :D

I always liked teen idols from age 3 to about age 12. My first was Micky Dolenz, who was my absolute favorite Monkee (and is currently in "Aida" on Broadway BTW). Then Jack Wild of "HR Pufnstuf" and "Oliver". Then Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy, and finally Donny Osmond. I thought John Travolta was very cute during "Kotter" and had his picture on my home ec. notebook, and later on had a picture of Willie Aames in my locker, but ultimately about 8-9th grade went back to the Monkees (who believe me, NO ONE cared about in the late 70s) and Micky. When they made their big comeback in 86 I saw them 3 times, then in 87, 89, 96 and 97--which was DD#1's first concert at age 5!
Davy is coming to town on June 11, and although he's not my favorite, it's better than no Monkees at all, so we'll be going to see him!
The common thread in all these guys is baby faces! I never liked scary type guys or facial hair.
Robin M.

Davy Jones and Bobby Sherman. I used to love watching "Here Comes the Brides".

Donny Osmond. I was so obsessed that I used to write lengthy stories about meeting him and having him fall head over heels in love with me....how corny is that?

I remember crying when an acquaintance showed me photos she took of him at a concert that I wasn't allowed to attend (I was about 11 I guess).

He was barely a speck on the stage!

I almost forgot...after I got married I had a crush on Tom Selleck. Don't tell my DH though!

Andy Gibb.

I wore a t-shirt with his face on it.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!!!! I had posters, t shirts you name I had it. I still have the tapes. I recently found them and my roommate and I rolled the windows down in my car and sang at the top of our lungs. I still know all the words. Hangin' Tough

Well, Paul McCartney was my first love. I can remember being about 7 or 8 and playing house with my friends and we'd all call out for a husband. My pick was always Paul. Then came Bobby Sherman and mainly Donny Osmond. One entire wall in my room was completely covered with posters of Donny. Heck, he's 46 now and he STILL looks gorgeous! I've watched Pyramid a few times just to take a peek at Donny. He wasn't just a cute kid; he's a handsome man.

I also liked Chris Knight from the Brady Bunch (Peter Brady.)

I never did hop on the David Cassidy bandwagon. He never appealed to me at all.

I never did like Donny Osmond or any of the Osmonds...I think it was those teeth! But then when my kids got the "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"video (starring Donny...shirtless, at times) - wow! He grew up well. And his voice is terrific.

My first crush was Jack Wild of HR Puf'n'stuf, when I was about 7 or 8. I loved the way he talked.
Then it was Parker Stevenson who was plastered all over my walls.

Melora- I still have that issue of Tiger Beat. I also have many Tiger Beat Star, Teen Beat, 16 magazines, too. :sunny:

I was going to marry Peter from the Brady Bunch. I thought it was perfect considering my name was already Cindy! :teeth:
