Who Wants To Try a DIS-Meet At Gulf State Park In May-June 2016?

That is sad news to hear. I had been reading up on some of the things he had done for the park over his lifetime and I remember the part about it beginning as a summer job.

I posted some more pictures of mine and Randy's stay at Foscue this weekend. I posted it over on the community forum under the "other campgrounds" thread since it was more appropriate there and I like to advertise that thread to keep people posting on it as I really like seeing other places. I got a lot of other pictures but do not want to post online as they are of some places that might get some really nice people in trouble. For those of you I'll see in May and June I'll show them to you then. Pretty neat stuff

Randy posted some pics of the falls at the dam that makes Demopolis Lake. Here are a few more. This one is from downstream looking back up at the falls. That is the lock entrance you see on the right.

We got a special treat and got to go to the lock and see them raise a barge.

Afterwards I was allowed to go across the gate and take some pics from directly over the falls.


I got a lot of other pictures but do not want to post online as they are of some places that might get some really nice people in trouble. For those of you I'll see in May and June I'll show them to you then. Pretty neat stuff.

My family is just going to miss most of the meet we check in on June 5 staying until 12th. I do not remember the site # but it is on Gator rd. Sounds like this is going to be a adventuresome week

I've been spending some time in the cruise forum since we've become experienced there and boy it can get rough. I almost quit using the boards the other day!

Ok, sad to say, but please remove my name from the list of GSP Dis-meeters. Wife got a promotion and her new boss has vacation scheduled for the same week. Had to reschedule for the middle of July and because of my schedule we are limited in days. So we booked a DVC room for our trip down. No Fort, No GSP. Oh well. Maybe next year.

Dmax, sorry to hear about the cancellation of plans but a congrats on the wife's promotion. These things do happen, but we adjust and move on none the less. Hate you will miss Randy's wrestling though, I heard he has been working hard on his technique. I, on the other hand have given up on the Elvis skit. Every single time I try that hip-gyro-thing I have to make a visit to the chiropractor.

I'm mostly sorry you'll miss Randy's shrimp boil. We were discussing it last week and it sounds like it is going to be one heck of a meal. Maybe, since Ed is staying for free he'll take pity and offer me an adult beverage. We'll see...

Again, sorry for the change in plans but with the promotion for your wife comes more opportunities down the road.

Congrats on the wife's success and we will miss you. Now I will be the sole representative of our party with a water view. I will drink a beer in your memory and throw the empty at the entrance to site 15. Reluctantly I will take you off the participant list in post #1.

You and many others clearly know their way around a hitch and a tow-behind and your knowledge and advice here is valuable. The Towing... thread is a nice addition and you have made a valuable contribution thus far. I hope you are not done helping us. I've learned quite a lot (which is obvious) in it from you (plus that picture of your truck is awesome).

For those of you interested, I watch a weekly planner on the Alabama Parks website. It lists activities at the parks, more specifically GSP. Here is a link if you want to save it and review it as our arrival gets closer to see what's going on.
