Who wants to plan with me? mid Nov - mid Dec - We're up to 110! WOW!

Looking to plan a trip to DL leaving on 11/24 and returning on 11/28!

It will be me, DH, DD1(13), DD2(7) and DD3(6)!

Any advice, suggestions would be great!

Updating our info! We are staying at Indian Creek Nov. 12-22nd and are flying on AirTran out of LVIA/Allentown.

We just started plannig for Nov 19-27 at CBR. We have been the last 2 thanksgivings and were planning to try March, but November works out better with my teaching schedule, nad we got a FD pin email for the Nov blackout dates, so here we are. It KILLED me to be doing ressies after 180, but I think we actually did pretty well! We are so excited to be going in less than 3 months. Now i just have to get on my sewing for DD. I do customs for our trips and I only have 2 done!

3mos and 4 days!!! time is fast approaching us!! sooo ready!!

It's not approaching fast enough for my tastes :rotfl: The only things we have left to do are to pre-purchase photpass, order a specialty cake from the Contemporary, and figure out the touring plans from the touring plans site. We've never used a touring plan before but we bought the website subscription :confused3 If anyone has any advice on that in mid-November. Oh, and I suppose we have to pack, but for that first I have to return to the United States where most of my clothes are located :lmao: That'll be fun...I haven't seen these clothes in about a year and my mom will want to bring every pair of shoes she owns :rolleyes1

In my experience, the shoes that are the most comfortable that you can walk and walk and walk all day in, are the only shoes you need!! I wore my LLBean Explorer Sandals the whole time. They are similar to my DH's Keens.

80 more days til SSR!

Yeah you don't know my mom :lmao: She doesn't know which shoes are the most comfortable and still they'll have to match or something. And then this trip we're actually planning to get dressed up a few times for fun so she'll need more shoes...I'm actually planning to bring the shoes I brought to Liberia, a pair of Chaco sandals and then Merrell waterproof hiking shoes. We'll see how that goes. Course I act like it's all my mom :rolleyes1 and I'm not gonna stress at all about what to wear so that I'm comfortable, warm enough, cool enough, and don't look like a bum (ie what I look like right now). My mom also saw in the Farmer's Almanac that this winter on the east that it's supposed to be colder and wetter than average.

Finally got our flights booked yesterday. The fluctuating airfare was driving me nuts. So glad that part is done. I read on the transportation forum that most resorts are doing check in for Southwest now. I hope that is true.

We will be there December 11-15, just a short trip to soak up some Disney Christmas magic. We have never been during the holidays before. It will be us, our 3 boys, and the grandparents. I promised Grandma yesterday that this was going to be a low key trip. Now I just have to try to keep that promise. We've been before and we'll go again. I'm going to try to just relax and enjoy.

My mom also saw in the Farmer's Almanac that this winter on the east that it's supposed to be colder and wetter than average.

That's weird? They were just talking about the Farmer's Almanac prediction for this winter (on the news on TV) and they're all breathing a sigh of relief because it said this winter is NOT going to be so cold. They said, that it said, that it would be milder!! We all need some normalcy after last year's record breaking cold and mountains of snow!! Even Florida was cold! :scared1:

In November, I typically bring lots of capris!

I'd really prefer it not to be cold so I'm hoping my mom read it wrong somehow ;)

But now my mom has discovered that two of her friends are taking their granddaughter to WDW and their trip overlaps ours. So they thought that we'd all have breakfast together before heading to MK separately and because their granddaughter is 10, they thought to do a character breakfast. Now both groups have all their ADRs made, but how in the world they thought we were going to get an ADR for a character breakfast for six people in a monorail resort or in MK early in the morning the Sunday before Thanksgiving is beyond me. Guess we'll be checking every day now to see if anything comes up. Cape May had a 7:50am time but it's all the way in Epcot and we all wanted to be in MK that morning. Anyone think that a time will open up in the next two months that I can snag? :rolleyes1

Course if we do get a character breakfast that means that we could have saved money with the dining plan. We weren't going to do the dining plan because we didn't want to do that many TS meals and didn't want to be stuck to the plan. Now with ADRS at Via Napolia and a character breakfast, we'd have enough TS to do the dining plan but I still don't want to be locked into the dining plan meals. But I don't want to NOT save money when I could have either. Doh :headache:

Can't remember if I've replied in this thread before, but we are in for Wilderness Lodge 11/27 - 12/5! :cool1: This will be our youngest Princess's first trip, and we are also very excited to have my parents joining us for the second part of the week! Looking forward to making some wonderful family memories. I'm glad someone mentioned pre-purchasing the photopass - that is a must for this trip!

Welcome back!! :wave2:

Thanks! I've been trying to pop in and out to keep an eye on things. Life's just been busy and I wouldn't have committed to taking this thread on if I'd known things were going to get this busy...anywho, such is life and I'll be back to update as often as my time allows. :goodvibes Once I'm done planning this breast cancer walk in October, I'll have a lot more free time to start working on Disney stuff.

I totally agree - it doesn't feel like the days are moving fast enough! We've still got to prepurchase photopass, pay for the house (I didn't want to pay too far in advance) and buy our tickets (we're doing that at Disney because we've got two old tickets to "trade in"). I've also got to order a cake but have to gather some ideas for it first....I've got three birthdays to tie into it (my friend Marcia's -the reason for the trip; her boyfriend's daughter (turning 14) and my son who will have just turned 4 four days before we get to Disney. I've got lunch booked at GFC (figured it was safe because we'd be able to get whatever time I wanted/needed and we've had cakes from there before so I know it will be good.

I'm not looking forward to packing either! My son's birthday is 11/20 so we're having a small party here at the house with a local gymnastics bus and cake/ice cream before I send kids on the way. Then I plan on starting the packing, cooking and cleaning. I'll have Saturday afternoon and Sunday to get everything done that I need to do. Monday will be grocery shopping for veggies and other "cold" stuff that I won't have room for until the last minute and Tuesday night will be "pack the van" night. My oldest doesn't have school Wednesday and I've already asked to leave at noon Wednesday. I'm hoping we can be on the road by 1 at the latest!!!

I'd really prefer it not to be cold so I'm hoping my mom read it wrong somehow ;)

Keep checking!! I've got a couple of CP ADRs for 10 that if I don't need, I'd be happy to "give" you. :goodvibes I don't know if the days will work for you but I was even on line last night still making ADRs for our group of 10 so I know you'll find something...

I think Cape May is an excellent choice for a Character breakfast. We did that one last year and LOVED it! 7:50am is also a good time because it is early enough to get you on your way to MK in no time at all. I wouldn't worry at all that its not near Magic Kingdom. All you have to do is hop the Beach Club bus to Magic Kingdom after your breakfast. :cheer2:

Well you've still got a few more things to do than we do :thumbsup2 And tell me what kind of cake decoration you get for an adult woman, a teen girl, and a little boy, that sounds like a tough decision. We're looking into having a cake that looks like Liberia, but I don't know how do-able that is...What do you mean gymnastics bus?

Oh well, we already have a CP ADR for another morning, though I guess if one opened up for 6 for Sunday, we'd take that instead. Hmmm...still checking 1900 Park Fare since that's our first choice

Great, my mom already canceled that ADR and I bet it's gone now :lmao: I don't even know what characters are at Cape May because I think it says 'revolving' characters...but what's great about it? I've never really been to any character breakfast before. Right now we're planning on just eating at the GF Cafe since it's in our hotel unless something opens up for 1900 Park Fare

Oh too bad!! I loved Cape May. We had Donald, Goofy, Minnie, and Mickey. They were so cute in their Beachwear. The food was fabulous. There was such selection. I couldn't possibly even sample tiny bits of it all because of that. There were scrambled eggs, waffles, I think they had omlettes and/or pancakes, all sorts of pastries, fresh fruit, there was raisin bread, bagels and cream cheese with lox too! I had a delicious yogurt and fruit parfait. I discovered the section with the bagels and lox after I had eaten and we were leaving. I hadn't noticed it, although I doubt I could have swallowed another bite!! They also had all the expected beverages like juices and coffees and teas and probably more. The atmosphere was very relaxed too.

Here's a couple of photos from our visit:

*Where are you staying? Split stay at Poly/POR/Marriott/AKL.

*When are you going? late Nov / early Dec.

*Who's in your group? Hubby, Son, Me, Sister, Bro-in-law, nephew, Mom, Dad.

*What is everyone hoping for as far as ADRS? I think we have most of what we want. The Wave, Kona Cafe, Ohana, Liberty Tree Tavern, Crystal Palace, Beirgarten, Chefs de France, Via Napoli, WCC, and Boma.

One thing we have to decide is where to eat Thanksgiving lunch on property. We won't be going to the parks that day, so currently we have ADRs at 1900 Park Faire, Olivia's and Boatwright's, and we need to narrow it down to one place so we can cancel the others. (However, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised it was possible to get 3 ADRs for different times for a large group on Thanksgiving day. Hopefully that means it won't be too crowded!! :goodvibes)

*What are you looking most forward to? Being on vacation and having a break from work. :goodvibes Also its hubby's first time to WDW.

*Are you using any other site to help you plan? A few different sites but most everything is planned. At this point I'm now just on a quest to possibly find lower resort rates before we leave :surfweb:

*What are you doing to get in the Disney spirit now? Looking for cheaper rates lol

I think if you want a relaxed friendly atmosphere with good food, go with Olivia's. Check with Dining for the menu. They may have their normal menu or they may have a special traditional Thanksgiving meal that day. You'll want to make sure you get what you want. If they're having their normal menu and you don't think Thanksgiving means Key Lime Pie instead of apple pie, then you'll be disappointed. Personally, I think their Key Lime Pie is fantastic! I'm hoping to go there maybe the day before or after Thanksgiving just for the pie!! Our Thanksgiving dinner is scheduled for afternoon at Chef Mickey.
