We are repainting one of our bathrooms next weekend. We already know we will be painting it gray, we just can't decide if we want to paint it a LIGHT gray or a DARK gray.

Here she is in her current glory...

As you can see, our floor tiles are a grayish-white, the reason we chose gray for the wall color. (When they remodeled the house, they painted the walls in every room that "tan" color. We love it, just not in the bathroom...) Our bathtub wall tiles are a neutral cream color.

For accent colors, we are keeping the black for sure, and we were thinking of adding the tan color similar to the blinds, and a raisin color similar to the wood on the sink...

(Any alternative color suggestions would be appreciated, but for now, the blinds are staying (they are brand new) and the black stays.)

But, what shade of gray do you think for the walls?

I would go with a dark gray. I like color on my walls though. My bedroom when I was in high school was a deep gray color with white furniture. I loved how that looked.

Are you saying that the darker gray would be interpreted more as a "color" than the lighter gray?

Count me as odd person out- I think it'll be too dark with the dark wood- black accents and dark wall.

I opt light gray.

Like BM Pebble Beach.

It's always easier to paint over lighter paint than darker.
Plus with a bathroom I would worry about water stains on the dark walls. I think they blinds might look out of place if you go too light- Oh and can you do a black print valance in there? To bring some black up off the floor.

Oh and for accent color - I'm partial to Purple with gray.

How about wrought iron mirror too?

You are right about the painting over... and to bring up the black from the floor, we are adding a towel bar over the toilet, to which we will add DECORATIVE TOWELS :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: : One black towel, with cream hand towels over that, and a patterened handtowel over those... if that makes sense.

Everyone keeps telling me purple, but I hate the color! :upsidedow

I love your sink! I have the same one...planned my whole bathroom around it! Can't really help you with wall color though, I have tile all the way up. I use burgundy or dark plum towels.

Since you're accenting in darker colors, I would go with light gray for the walls to give it some balance.

Thanks! What colors did you do your bathroom???

Oops, I realized I forgot to say that so I went back and edited. No paint, all tile but i did towels/bath rug in burgundy or a dark plum. I think the burgundy looks better so I usually use that.

Nice! I like the raisin color, which is a cross between those two colors!

Have you checked out some of the paint websites? I love the Behr website. They have a ton of different gray colors. I personally wouldn't go too dark in your bathroom because your fixtures are so dark.

I really like the squirrel gray by behr.

Thanks! We are getting Behr paint, so I am off to check out that color! :thumbsup2

And no, we haven't looked at gray samples yet, because we were going to do another tan shade, but it just looks terrible with the floor tile.
