Who should I contact at DVC to change my guide?

DH and I made an unscheduled stop at SSR in December and bought. We did not have an appt. and I am sure they sent whoever was available.

Michael helped us and we are very pleased with him. I have since received a postcard from someone who provided tour 12 years ago saying he is our new Guide.

This week when e-mail newsletter arrived, it had 2nd name on it.

I had spoken with Michael after postcard and thought it was all taken care of. Now it apears that it isn't.

Who do I need to call at DVC or MS, or wherever to make sure that Michael is our guide? Do I call regular MS #?

Hope you can help me with this. I am starting to get a little frustrated.

MS really doesn't have much to do with the sales guides. I'd call the general sales info number and ask for a supervisor.

After your purchase, there really isn't a lot of contact with your guide though, unless you either add points or refer someone to tour and purchase DVC.

We went through something similar with our guide. We wanted to change and our new guide said okay but we kept getting stuff from the old guide. Called our new guide back and he was hesitant about being our guide because he works closely with our old one! MS's has our new guide's name on everything. Hopefully we won't have to bother using him anyway. I envy those who have guides that call them up and wish them welcome home and have a great relationship. I know it's not required and shouldn't be expected but it would still be nice. Good luck!

Unless you are goint to buy more points you will not need a so-called guide. A guide will not want to know you if you do not plan on buying more points. Don't waste your time and theirs trying to get a new guide, they are just salesman, nothing more. :)

But there are good salesman and horrible salesman. If you want a specific guide go through a supervisor and ask for the guide you want.

When we purchased recently, we had a guide that had given us a tour 4 years ago. The process was a little more complicated than just call up and buy, and our guide never returned my calls - at least not as quick as I would have liked. I would have to call him 3-4 times before he'd call me back. It was incredibly frustrating. I finally called and INSISTED that I get a new guide. I really haven't dealt with her much, because we closed shortly thereafter, but we might add on this trip and I'm glad I have someone who will return my calls.

I disagree...I LOVE my guide!! I totally got stressed out about ROFR the other night, so I called him. Now, he didn't give me any information (he KNOWS I post on the dis a lot, so he is REALLY careful about what he tells me), but he did talk to me for 45 minutes!! We laughed and cut up until I was "over" my crisis!!

He also called us on our trip "home"...he says he does this for all of clients. He's really cool, and seems much more like a "friend" who works for DVC rather than a guide. When he answered the phone last night, I said, "Hi". He said, "Hey, how's it goin'?" I then replied, "This is Beca from Phoenix", and he said..."I knew it was you the moment I heard your voice"...and, I BELIEVE him...he always seems to know it's me. He answers my phone calls right away about 90% of the time, and when I leave a message...he will call me back REPEATEDLY until he gets through.

He is AWSOME, and I ADORE him!!! I feel badly for anyone who doesn't feel the same about their guides....seriously, dealing with him is half the fun of DVC!!!!

I have never met my guide and really don't care LOL! It is not like we need to be friends. He has called me back when I did both of my add ons however.

Other than our first purchase back in 2000, we have never heard from our guide other than seeing his name on various email offers and stuff like that.

I dont believe we have ever heard from our guide either. I have his name inside a DVC membership book somewhere - dont remember it offhand.

We are experiencing the same problem with our guide. We leave messages and our phone calls get returned a week later. Or they never do at all. I have called and inquired about a new guide but still have the same old one whose name appears on info we receive. It is very frustrating. We called to inquire about adding a 25 points. But when your phone calls don’t get returned until a week later you sort of give up. Anyone who has the correct phone number to call please let us know.

True. In fact, most of them are recruited directly off used-car lots.

Call 1-800-800-9100--tell them and it should be taken care of. This is what I did. I switched guides. I toured with one and a year and half later bought with another. I had no problem. It takes about 60 days to not see anything in the old ones name.

If you need the name of a good sales rep, just pm me. She returned my calls very promptly!!

We love our guide, Mike Brunson. He always gets back to us promptly. And Im not sure how he knew, but he gave us a call before our trip in Jan, and another call in our room while we were there. When we were wandering around SSR he saw us, remebered our names and invited us to meet with him for sodas later. We didnt go back because deciding between Beaches and Creams Fudge Mud Slide and sodas with your DVC guide, well, he didnt stand a chance

I think having a guide that you like can make your stays even more special because its like having a friend or neighbor back home that you can ask questions to, and visit now and again.

GO MIKE!!!! :cheer2:
