The morning was murky and muddy. The sky rang out a gloomy impression as the gray clouds covered the bright sun. Anna pulled on her rubber boots as she hopped out the door into the tread of mudded streets... Audrey rolled drearily out of bed and walked out to the window. 'Oh hopefully they would get rain today' she thought to herself. She trudged out to the sitting room where she seen her mother preparing breakfast. Marie slowly rolled out of bed, noticing the dark dreary sky she thinks to herself "Hopefully is won't rain again today." She smells breakfast being cooked and heads downstairs to see what mom is cooking up in the kitchen. Anna trudged along, mud splashing against her soft-colored blue dress, the white lace seemingly ruined in the appearance of the groggy day. Anna stared up into the clouds, how she loved the essence that every day seemed to bring some new sense of compassion, every cloud, every drop of rain, every ray of light seemed to open Anna's mind, putting her head in the clouds. After breakfast, and a small argument with her mother about taking an umbrella; Audrey didn't want an umbrella because she loved the rain, but her mother hated to see her clothes get ruined. So she splashed in the rain under her umbrella. She was wearing her favorite red dress. Not many women dared to wear such an outstanding color but she didn't care. Audrey was a very free-spirited teenage girl. Up ahead she seen Anna walking in the rain, she ran up to her and said hello. Since today was the first day of school, she had much to talk about.

Anna finally made it to the school; she looked around at the disserted grounds. She sighed... ‘Early again she thought.' She sat seemingly bored, which was rather unusual for her. ‘I hope somebody gets here soon.' she thought. Finally Audrey caught up to her. She looked around and indeed there was nobody else there, which how it normally was when she arrived. She always liked to leave early because in the mornings her mother was very disagreeable. She sat down on the wet bench and immediately regretted it as she felt the wet rain seeping through her dress. 'Oh great' she thought as she stood up. She sat back down when she decided she didn't care anymore, and began to take up a conversation with Anna. “Well... It is the first day of school. How do you think it will be?" Anna asked Audrey as she looked up into the sky hoping for a drop of rain to catch her eye. "I don't know, I have always thought that once I was in 10th grade things would be so much better. It just seems things have gotten worse. Will things ever get back to normal?" Audrey said, realizing this sounded very mature and serious, which she didn't like, she jumped up and asked Anna to dance. Audrey was always doing crazy things like this. Anna smiled and watched as a few girls and boys walked the school gates.

"Well it looks like we are not the only ones here. Even if it is that horrible Sadie, and her group of friends."

For years Sadie had terrorized Anna, Audrey and their friends. And they never figured out why. The girls were not poor; they had great personalities, and dressed very fashionably. Sadie never got anywhere with the jokes about them, but it was just bother some. Anna rolled her eyes... “I wonder what ridiculous and absurd comment they will come up with for the first day of school... fools they make of themselves, just utter and complete fools.." Anna said. Audrey and Anna still dancing about... “Besides, our jazz dancing is much too extraordinary for their taste." Anna joked... Mr. Anderson came out of his office and said” get to class" in a loud but not stern voice.” And you, Audrey, is your poem ready for the literature contest? This part is due next Wednesday"

Audrey walked over to Mr. Anderson and they chatted for a moment. She walked over to Anna grasping her arm. “Come on!" She said excitedly. “Wait...” Anna said grabbing her books. “What books are you reading?" Audrey asked observing the smaller books on top of her new school books. “I’m reading Peter Pan... Yes again... but J.M. Barrie really is quite an amazing author. I think I could read it a thousand times and still never run out of interest in it, and of course the Wizard of Oz, I've never read it before but it is very interesting so far." She said as they were dilly dallying down the hall.

Suddenly the bell rang and they went off to different classes “see you in English" they said as they rushed off. "Okay Bye Bye Anna" Audrey said as she paddled her way to the building. She looked down at her new schedule that she had picked up yesterday. Oh great English first! It was indeed her favorite subject. And it didn't hurt they had that cool new teacher. Audrey giggled as she opened the door to English Class.

“Oh goody...” Anna said out loud in a huffy tone... ‘Math is first, why math? Anna thought as she walked slowly through the crowded halls.

Audrey took a seat by the window, her very favorite seat in the entire school. She absent mindedly twirled her hair and waited for the teacher to come in. Mr. Anderson walked in and waited for the class to quiet down.” I am not a normal teacher. For instance you will start by writing not what you did this summer, but rather what you think I will be like as a teacher based on first impressions. A prize will be awarded in three categories from all my classes." On the board he wrote "the categories will be posted after all students have turned in their work" The kids in the class leaned in their desk excited to hear the teacher's next words... “Now if you will, get to work”
