Who makes Monkey Bread?

I made it years ago but lost the recipe.
Here's one I found online that looks like the same stuff I made.. :)

2 loaves white bread, uncooked (freezer section of grocery store)
1 stick melted butter (add more if needed)
2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Directions

1. Thaw bread dough overnight in refrigerator. When soft, use kitchen scissors to cut it up into one inch pieces. Dip dough into melted butter, then roll around in sugar/cinnamon combination until covered.

2. Line bottom of a bundt pan and then start to layer in evenly. Cook at temperature recommended on dough packaging for about one hour until golden brown and hard on the top. Remove from oven and flip over on to a larger platter. Let sit with pan on top for a few minutes while the sweet mixture runs down the bread.

3. Garnish with holly, marichiano cherries, candied nuts, icing, or decoration of your choice.

4. To eat, pick apart—like a bunch of monkeys.

I had just called my mom to get the recipe when I saw your post. I'll post it when she emails me. Do you use the frozen bread rolls in yours?

Monkey bread is a Christmas morning tradition in our family and this is my first Christmas away from home. I can't wait to have it with my husband Wed morning!

My mom used to make this. I do not remember the exact recipe, but I know she used those pop open cans of dinner rolls as opposed to bread. The rest of the directions from Lucky seem about the same!

Pretty much the same as the recipe posted, except we use the cans of biscuit dough from the refrigerated section of the grocery store.

I was wondering what kind of rolls. There are SO many kinds at the store LOL. Biscuits, rolls, peeling ones, crescents. I've never made it myself.

We use the frozen dinner rolls that come in an orange bag. We make it before going to bed and then let it set out overnight to thaw and rise. Then, just stick it in the oven the next morning.

My mom's recipe is a little different using butterscotch pudding mix and brown sugar instead of just regular sugar. I want to say it is a small package of instant pudding mix and 1 cup of brown sugar. I'll correct that when I get the recipe if I'm wrong.

You put the dinner rolls in a bundt pan. Mix the dry ingredients and sprinkle them over the rolls. Then, melt the butter and pour it over the top.

We use the canned biscuits cut in quarters when we make these with Scouts. Shake them in sugar and cinnamon, pour the remaining sugar over the top and drizzle with butter. Yum.

I haven't made Monkey Bread in years, but when I did, I used the canned Pillsbury biscuits.

If you can wait, I have the recipe at home. My uncle calls it "Pluck It". My wife has embellished the recipe to include slices of apples and lots of pecans. If you email me, I'll send you our version sometime this evening.

Here is teh recipe I use. I buy the cheapest canned biscuits the store has :teeth:
