Who knew a toe could hurt so much??

I broke my toe last night into three pieces, one of which is displaced so I'll probably have to have surgery to fix it but MAN who knew a toe could hurt so badly?!?! I broke it right at the base of my foot. It's been very interesting trying to get DS6 to camp and taking care of DS2. I have never been so glad DH is coming home from work early. I can't do this alone!!

Just had surgery for broken toe that I got 10years ago. I suggest you get it taken care of early. I had the surgery in late May and my foot still hurts. I had to buy a mans 7 EEEE sneaker the other day to wear to WDW. My husband told me to get 2 prs b/c he thinks I may need to wear them back to school in the fall...funny(not).

Foot doctor told me there are three places with the most sensitive and largest condentration of nerve endings ...feet, hands and ...well you can guess the 3rd. That is why you are in so much pain. Go to the dr for an anti inflamatory.

Absolutely, get it fixed. I broke a toe (badly!) and figured that the doc would just tell me to support it with an athletic shoe, keep it elevated, etc. My foot turned black and blue across the base of all my toes, and now, a year later, it still hurts, and I can't wear some of my favorite shoes

Go to a good podiatric surgeon. I went though the same thing and they used to give me cortesone(sp) shots it would help for a while but the bone was cracked and that is why I too could not wear many shoes. I am wearing shoes right now that are like 6 years old from Easy Spirit...clogs actually. I had my toe fixed in May and although it still hurts due to the surgery I know it is better and still healing. By the time I finally went for the surgery (after visiting 4 foot doctors who told me the same thing) I was down to one pair of sneakers ...even the clogs hurt!! I am and was a shoe NUT and tons of shoes and all I could do was look at them. HOPEFULLY now I will at least be able to wear some stylish flats which I am told will be big this season, Thank God!!
