Who knew a pap smear was the perfect Hanukkah gift?

I just saw the funniest commercial. The guy says something like,
"Wanna do something special for your woman this Hanukkah? Schedule her pap smear. Just a smear could save her life and will light up her menorah."

I've seen several of these silly commercials over the past week or so. Really really stupid.

Is this one of those gifts that's on a par with a *gift* of pots and pans or an iron?

DD and I laughed about it and decided then the return gift should be a prostrate exam
Silly commercial though, but I guess if people are noticing it and talking about it, it is serving its purpose.

It must have been written by the same man at the same ad agency that wrote, "Have a happy period."

Our local paper runs a similar ad every year, but instead of a pap smear it's a colonoscopy !!

There has been a campaign on about getting mammograms too-same type of deal-it would make the perfect gift... Um, ok, you MUST be a man to think that-not that it isn't important but if men start giving women these as "gifts" the divorce rate would SKYROCKET.

Who would've thunk it? I finally decided that getting my sister a Kindle would be the perfect Hannukah gift, but instead, I should have been getting her a Pap smear all along.

I guess it would be more useful than some gifts you'd receive but I don't know anyone who would be thrilled by it.

I happened to see that commercial while watching TV with my DBF one evening. That water I was drinking at the moment almost came out my nose. I patted DBF's leg and said, "Yep, just what I want to hear on Christmas, 'Put your feet in the stirrups and scoot down'!"

I can see her lighting her menorah...





...and then using it to brain the lout who scheduled a pap smear for her instead of getting her a Hanukkah gift.

As soon as I saw this commercial I assured DH that I had the pap smear under control and he sould get me something else.
