Who is waiting for SWA out of PVD?

Hey there, neighbor!! Just to let you know that all of us started out as newbies at some point so feel free to ask away.

I usually book my hotel before my air since SW's schedules are only out up to 6 months in advance. Then I keep my eye open for any discounts on the hotel, rental car, etc. Once I come home from WDW, I start the wheels in motion planning the next one...

HTH!!!

Welcome!!! :cheer2:

If you are booking directly through Disney you have up until 45 days prior to departure to change/cancel your reservations without a penalty. WIth that being said If you are somewhat flexible.....I would book your hotel reservation and add on a couple days before you intend to travel and a couple of days after. That way if you airfare is lower on a different day you have some wiggle room... Then, once you have your air call disney back and make your change to the exact dates you need.

Good luck! I have had a great experience on these boards and hope you do to.. pixie dust to you! :welcome:

I'm in Plainville, MA waiting for October to open up. Should I go ahead and book the hotel now, at least?

Ahhh, we are flying out on the 8:10 am flight. When are you returing, Liz? And where will you be staying?!

Waiting for 9/19-9/29 and am getting concerned about how high the prices will go by then. Can only hope the thought of hurricanes or something will keep them down for that period. Don't want to have to go to Logan or Hartford if we can help it. Good luck to everyone that is waiting - last year I got $49 one way tickets at Christmas time to Ft. Lauderdale - wonder what they will be this year.

We're flying back on Sept. 1st at 1:20. We're staying at BWV

Thanks for the great welcome, guys!!!
OK, I'll call the hotel today. We're going to stay at Buena Vista Suites if the Mousesavers discount isn't blacked out during our stay.
What we wanna do, and it's oh so very sneaky, is pick up the kids from school (it'll be Columbus Day weekend) and say that we're going to go have a look at the airport. From there, we'll casually say "Ya wanna go on a plane?" Then board the plane and say "Guess where we're going???"
This is very first vacation except for 36 hours in Storyland, so we're super excited about this one. And a leetle nervous too, but you guys are sure helping take the fog out of this process!
How many hours ahead of a flight should we show up? Is 2 hours too much?

Good luck with your surprise! Several of my friends from the Community Board have done that with their kids recently and the surprise is priceless.

If you're planning to fly out of Green and for Columbus Day weekend I'd suggest getting their MORE than 2 hours ahead. I'm overly cautious but I've also seen the lines through security back up a ways. With Southwest you can download your boarding passes 24 hours in advance so that's a nice benefit.

Cool! We are leaving Thursday the 12th of October - do you think it will still be crazy? One more thing - about those boarding passes. (*Warning! Newbie question ahead! :wave2: ) How do they work in general? Do you print them out and that gets you in the security line? And then you present the ticket just as you get on the plane? Oh my, have I got a lot to learn...

This is a little off topic but,I would look into staying @ WDW onsite, Especially if this is your 1st trip to Disney. The POP Century hotel is a "value" hotel and we loved it.That way you are on site and don't need a car. Transportation from the Airport to your Disney hotel is "free". Just an idea ,with small kids and being able to get the most out of your visit by staying onsite ! Have fun planning :thumbsup2

If you are checking luggage you will 1.give your ticket, boarding pass and photo ID to the person who checks that in. 2.Then you will show the boarding pass and ID to the person at the security checkpoint and lastly give the pass to the person at the gate when you board the plane. If you do not have paper tickets you just need to give the boarding pass and photo ID to the person who is checking you in either curbside or inside the terminal and then follow steps 2 and 3. If you do not check luggage you can take the boarding pass and ID directly to security and then to the gate. Good luck with your planning and hope you have a wonderful trip.

DH and I hope to fly out of PVD on Friday evening 10/13. We hope to stay 2 nights at Cypress Pointe and then at Beach Club Villas (waitlisted for Sunday night) or Boardwalk Villas (have reservations). We want to do the Party for the Senses at the F & W festival and then on Monday do MNSSHP. We'll fly home on the 17th. If SWA doesn't have good rates we'll jury rig everything and fly out of Logan on Jetblue. They had better prices last weekend and I blew it :(

Hi I am new to this thread but wanted to join in... I am playing the waiting game for SW flights too!!!! The suspense is killing me!!!

and waiting..... and waiting.....it should be soon, I hope it's soon, It has to be soon... ohhhhhhhh please let it be soooooooon. :sad2:

Waiting here too... I've been watching the Jet Blue flights for my timeframe (end Sept, beg. Oct) and today they are $5 more each way... I hope waiting for the SWA flights isn't a mistake. I'm already going to have to pay $40 (family of 4) if the SWA flights aren't cheaper.

Well, I am STILL waiting!!!!! I hope they extend their reservation schedule soon. The wait is killing me ;)

They're sure to open up tomorrow - because I'll be in a meeting from 10:30 to 11:30.

i think it's an experiment. see how long they can make you wait before you go insane. I for one would love to beable to get on with my life and not have to worry I missed the date and time I really need. arggg. to sw. pirate:

Too funny!

I called SW last weekt o see if I could get any information out of reservations when late September/October flights would be out - no luck. It's driving me crazy not being able to book my flights. Everything else is booked, hotel, tickets, ADRs.... ugh :confused3
