Well Bama's season is over after a win in the Citrus Bowl against a B1G team. It's a good vehicle to propel this team into the off-season for spring training and to evaluate talent on the 2020 Crimson Tide team. And Bama had a great early recruiting signing period (a hair behind Clemson in team rankings but we still have a few spots held open for the traditional February signing period). A couple juniors have decisions to make (stay for the senior year or go out for the NFL draft). Including Tua of course.
The 2020 season includes Georgia (from the SEC East) rotating onto the schedule as a Bama home game as will be Auburn this year. Throw in aTm at home, LSU on the road, and a season opener in Dallas versus USC-West and it will be an exciting season (although to be honest, we also have Georgia State, UT Martin, and Kent State (Saban's alma mater) on the schedule).
Thank goodness college baseball starts next month. The SEC has the best college baseball conference by far. Usually more than half the top 10 are SEC teams. Hard for Bama to move up but we are getting better - should be a fun season (I enjoy having 30+ home games). I went to several fall scrimmages and practices.
Back to football: we have a few bowl games left after today and then the Big Enchilada in over a week for the 'Ship (Clemson versus LSU). Should be a mammoth game (if I can stay awake for it).
Addendum: Oregon beats another B1G team. O's head coach is Mario Cristobal who was an Alabama assistant coach for 4 years (assistant head coach, offensive line coach, recruiting coordinator). This year for Oregon a conference championship and Rose Bowl victory.
Yet the NCAA says we can't have a 8 team playoff because it would make the season too long. What, it was 15 days inbetween when these teams played last and last night, it was so long that I almost forgot the game was even on. Anyway, hopefully we have recruited some help for next year!
