That's how I feel about it. If they had said something sooner, I could've put in the time and effort to come up with something cute. Also, since we're going to have to stay in the park due to capacity, I don't really want to be in fancy clothes from 6am until midnight (and later). I need super comfortable clothes I'm going to survive such a long, hot and crowded day! lol
We're planning on 6 or 7 am. Hoping we get in!
We'll be there the 15th -18th with my brother and family. My brother was born July 17, 1955, so we'll be celebrating his 60th birthday as well as Disneyland's 60th anniversary.
I will be there to celebrate my best friends 60th, we were there for 40th, and 50th!We'll be there the 15th -18th with my brother and family. My brother was born July 17, 1955, so we'll be celebrating his 60th birthday as well as Disneyland's 60th anniversary.

Yes, it would have been nice to have known sooner so that we could have planned our outfits. But we already have our own 60th outfits planned and we wanted to be comfortable and weather appropriate since we are going to be there from opening to closing too. We too are going to enjoy the atmosphere and not worry about the rides or entertainment. If we get some in, it will be a bonus. Not sure what time we are lining up, going to see how we feel after we arrive on the 16th.
I was there by accident with an ex for the 50th on July 17th 2005. I was a complete rookie and had no clue what I was doing and just happened to pick that weekend to go to DL and the 17th was our 2nd day of a 3 day PH. We thought we were getting there early (right after gates open) only to find the park packed beyond belief. By 8:20 (which is how long it took us to fight our way to Space Mountain) the line for space was 3+ hours long and FP were for after 6 PM at night. It was not a fun day for us and I have learned to plan before hand from that trip. Having been there for one big anniversary I think I have had my fill and will stay away from now on. It was too hard to move in the park all day.

Wasn't planning on dressing up but DD and I found a couple of dresses that are cool and comfortable to wear for the 17th. So, guess we are now dressing up and our planned 60th outfits will be worn on another day.![]()
My guess is that they may surprise us. The 24 hour day was such a fiasco from what I have heard, they may be trying to keep the crowd a little more reasonable so that people can enjoy it.Here's hoping! At this point there is pretty much barely anything announced and it is only a week and a half away. Not even quite sure it will be worth waking up extra early to go in
ok ok I am being a bit of a grumpy pants. It's just I was so excited about being in DLR for our first family trip...and amazingly the dates actually worked out. Then the 24 hour day got me all hyped up. And since then....nothing much. They gave us 2 weeks notice to find 50s inspired outfits. And have announced some merchandise. I guess my hopes were just a bit too high for the actual birthday. (so hoping Disney will absolutely surprise me!)
