Who is planning on being in Disneyland 7/17/2015?

I hope people do this despite the heat. I'd hate to be dressed up and just looking weird.

That's how I feel about it. If they had said something sooner, I could've put in the time and effort to come up with something cute. Also, since we're going to have to stay in the park due to capacity, I don't really want to be in fancy clothes from 6am until midnight (and later). I need super comfortable clothes I'm going to survive such a long, hot and crowded day! lol

We're planning on 6 or 7 am. Hoping we get in!

Yes, it would have been nice to have known sooner so that we could have planned our outfits. But we already have our own 60th outfits planned and we wanted to be comfortable and weather appropriate since we are going to be there from opening to closing too. We too are going to enjoy the atmosphere and not worry about the rides or entertainment. If we get some in, it will be a bonus. Not sure what time we are lining up, going to see how we feel after we arrive on the 16th.

I found cat eye glasses on eBay that shipped in a day for $1! Also going to wear pearl necklace and wear my hair in a ponytail curled. Found a knee length full circle skirt that I will be tucking my disney tank top in! That's about as 50s as I can do with such little time.

Wasn't planning on dressing up but DD and I found a couple of dresses that are cool and comfortable to wear for the 17th. So, guess we are now dressing up and our planned 60th outfits will be worn on another day. :cutie:

I was there by accident with an ex for the 50th on July 17th 2005. I was a complete rookie and had no clue what I was doing and just happened to pick that weekend to go to DL and the 17th was our 2nd day of a 3 day PH. We thought we were getting there early (right after gates open) only to find the park packed beyond belief. By 8:20 (which is how long it took us to fight our way to Space Mountain) the line for space was 3+ hours long and FP were for after 6 PM at night. It was not a fun day for us and I have learned to plan before hand from that trip. Having been there for one big anniversary I think I have had my fill and will stay away from now on. It was too hard to move in the park all day.

This is kinda what happened to me. Complete rookie, started planning a few months ago to visit Jul 15-17 not having any idea about the 60th celebration until about 3 weeks ago. Oops. We are going to the actual park on the 16th. Hoping it won't be too terrible but I'm mentally preparing for the worst.

We'll be there the 15th -18th with my brother and family. My brother was born July 17, 1955, so we'll be celebrating his 60th birthday as well as Disneyland's 60th anniversary.

How awesome!

Same here. It's not full on 50s - but 50ish. I found a poufy skirt for me which I will pair with a plain black T. My DD has a polkadot dress that can work. We will be wearing them with flip flops though - no way we are wearing fancy shoes at DLR!

Been away from this thread for a little while. Nice to see that some of the 60th Anniversary "specials" are being announced. Fortunately, our family has always been into costumes and costume parties. So, we have plenty of 50's regalia already to wear. But, I have the same concerns that others have posted that all-day in the park in 50's letterman jackets, poodle skirts, greaser garb and soda jerk outfits may be a big problem (also the extra room in our luggage). I'll have to run this by the rest of the family (we are a group of 8 on this trip).

We pretty much plan to be at the park at rope drop and stay until park close.

I'm excited to see more things being released, I like some of the shirts and that bag thing but everything else is meh. I hope we are given more information soon. I can't believe its just around the corner practically. I'm hoping for nice weather, a week out almost and it looks like it will be mid-upper 80s which isn't bad, but I wouldn't mind 80 degree weather :P.

I will be there from the night of the 15th through the 19th staying at GC. I'll be in the DL park on the 17th with 2 of my kiddos and my future sister in law (wedding is the next week in San Diego). My sister is supposed to drive down from San Francisco that day, but I am pretty certain she isn't going to get into that park that night. Right?

Trying to figure out when to line up that morning. Will have an 11 and 13 year old with me. Is 7 early enough?

At this point there is pretty much barely anything announced and it is only a week and a half away. Not even quite sure it will be worth waking up extra early to go in :(

ok ok I am being a bit of a grumpy pants. It's just I was so excited about being in DLR for our first family trip...and amazingly the dates actually worked out. Then the 24 hour day got me all hyped up. And since then....nothing much. They gave us 2 weeks notice to find 50s inspired outfits. And have announced some merchandise. I guess my hopes were just a bit too high for the actual birthday. (so hoping Disney will absolutely surprise me!)

My guess is that they may surprise us. The 24 hour day was such a fiasco from what I have heard, they may be trying to keep the crowd a little more reasonable so that people can enjoy it.Here's hoping!

I am definitely wondering why they haven't announced much, but then I got to thinking that if they released all what they had planned could you imagine what would happen if something didn't go as planned? People would be up in arms, and they probably don't want a huge stampede of people running through the parks. I trust that Disneyland will have surprises for us, its the diamond anniversary after all, and really I just wanted to be there on its birthday so I'm happy to be there even if there is no huge surprise or whatever. :)
