Who is NOT going to the Food and Wine Festival this year?

We are not going either and I am quite disappointed about it. We went in November 2008 and that trip was my favorite in 17 trips we have taken since 2001. The weather was gorgeous if a tad cool, there were no lines for food and drink, we strolled back to BCV while everyone else ran for the bus/monorail. Attending the David Cassidy show three nights in a row was the icing on the cake.

We have plenty of DVC points as well as free flights on Southwest, but can't cough up the $1600 for APs or the money we would need for the food and wine. To say nothing of $30 per day to board our pooch. DH is planning on 2010 but that seems so far away - I admit I am spoiled where my DVC is concerned.

Being a DVC Member definately helps with cost. But when I added up the cost for the A/P, my air fare and the food, I just couldn't justify it this year and....I was just there in June. Yes; I too have been spoiled. But missing it one year isn't going to kill me; I think. :rotfl:

No F&W for us this year either. At one point we decided to alternate F&W and Christmas Decorations trips, but "she who must be obeyed" wants to see the Christmas decorations again this year, making it two years in a row. Oh well, F&W will be even better when we finally do make it back!

My heart goes out to all of you who aren't going. The only way that would be me is if I'm dead. That's my favorite festival, and favorite time of year - I'd give up all the other trips before I'd skip those.

Good luck getting back next year!

I'm going, but DS, who was going to be my traveling companion, isn't. Instead, he, too, is going to Hawaii. He works for Princess cruise on one of their ships, which will be in dry dock during the F&W festival. So I was really looking forward to us going to the F&W together. But then, Princess decided to transfer him directly to a Hawaiian cruise. Can you imagine he'd rather do that, and get paid for it, than spend time with Mom at the F&W Festival? So now I have to go alone.

I was fortunate enough to accidentally schedule my first adult trip to WDW a couple of years ago. I have been back two more times, both in March. We are going to be there 2 weeks at Christmas so I am appreciative. However, that first trip with the F and D festival and MNSSHP were something I will never forget. The weather, the crowds, everything was so perfect. I bought DVC as a result of that trip. We did not do the festival, as I did not realize it was happening until we were there, plus we had two kids, so we just walked thru. We have not been able to go back at that time due to my wife working on nursing school, she graduates next May. I have been looking forward to 2010 and the return to our fall visits ever since she started school. Add some grandparents and a renewing of vows ... I am so excited I could burst!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Sadly we won't be at F&W this year. DW & I went for the first time and loved it, I could go for the cheese plate from Ireland right now. We are hoping to celebrate our 25th anniversary there next year. I am suffering Disney planning withdrawls right now. I will start the planning early next year, I will have to just look at my pictures for now.

I just see this great sale on air fare and tell DH "too bad I'm not going this year to the Food and Wine Festival; check out these fares??

Well guess what??? He tells me "there's no reason why you shouldn't go; please go"!!!!!

I'm calling MS as soon as they open and if I can get a room ANYWHERE I'm going to WDW for the F&W Festival!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Ms. WDW, I grabbed a studio at VWL a week ago Saturday. If you are looking for a studio, OKW/SSR was wide open for the month of October according to MS.

If you get a date, maybe we could have a "DIS boards, I wouldn't be at F&W except for great airfare" meet up.

Please give us F&W trip reports Starr and Mrs. WDW!!!! Need to know your food plan of attack...how you navigated the world, little tips and tricks!! I have been going back and forth between F&W and post Thanksgiving trip for next fall. Just can't decide!!!!!!!! Have fun!

Well, that might make this whole thread pointless, hmm? G'luck on the planning and have a great trip!

Sadly not going this year. But we will be there in 2010!

Not going this year either. If DH doesn't get a job soon, we won't be going in 2010 either and might have to sell our DVC. No use in owning something you can't use, is there? :headache:

Great! And it's wonderful to have such a supportive DH. I've taken several of my solo trips this way, because Southwest had a great air sale and DH told me to go. BTW, where did you get? I was lucky enough to get a BWV boardwalk view one year (all except for one night, when I got a BWV preferred view-and when it came time to check out, my new room was ready and was right down the hall). One year I got BCV on short notice. So whatcha get?

LOL! It must be in the air, 'cause I just off off the phone with my DH, and he said if I wanted to go in October, that I could - he just can't get away from work. I might take my youngest daughter to go visit my eldest who is doing the Disney College Program. :yay: Let us know if you book a room! :thumbsup2

This might be the last year I do it - since they've just extended public free dining into December and free diners will be there for the entire festival. Will have to see how much that contributes to the crowds because if the economy doesn't get any better, they'll do it again next year (nothing brings in the crowds like free dining) - that and see how it works now that you have to pay for the wine and culinary seminars and demonstrations in the festival center that were free last year.

Yes; my DH is very supportive and knows how much I love WDW.
I'm at SSR in a 1BR. I'm spoiled; I love my washer and my jacuzzi!!! ;) I tried the BW and they couldn't get all of my days. I thought about waitlisting but decided to go with SSR.

My nephew and his GF went through that program and loved it. I couldn't get in at the BW this late but I did get in at SSR. Love both resorts!!! I may waitlist at the BW; I don't know. ;)
