The only thing stronger than my AG obsession is my disney obsession!:lovestruc Who is getting their DD one of the new 18" princess dolls this holiday season? I hadn't really given it a thought, until I saw them presented on QVC last night and I was surprised at how beautiful they were. And so many of the reviews on QVC (from when they were presented and sold out during their Christmas in July sale)were so good.

Has anyone seen one of these dolls in real life? Is anyone planning on getting one? The Aurora has caught my eye, and I love the outfits I can get for her on QVC but I'm not sure if these are just a glorified version of a Our Generation doll, and that if I get one her hair will be a matted mess within hours. One of the reasons I love AG dolls is that their quality is so high...but one thing I read online is that Disney set out to rival AG dolls and come in at a much lower price mark (which I think can be done.....I'm not sure AG dolls need to be priced near the $100 mark) so I'm curious.

Any thoughts?

I got Ariel and Aurora for my two DD for Xmas. They are beautiful and the hair, I've heard, is very good and playable. I feel it's a good introduction to AG at a much lower price. TRU now has a deal that if you spend $75 on the princess stuff, you get the free wardrobe($35 value). I'm thinking I'm gonna go and buy each of them one of the princess canopy beds and get the wardrobe free. The clothes ate definitely cheaper on QVC though.

thanks for that tip! I'm going to check out toysrus.com now. Buying the doll and the bed would put me at $75.....

Is their hair rooted or wig? IMO the wigged hair is part of what makes AG so nice and durable. That is just about the only "big" doll DD plays with, she has 4 and is getting 2 more for Christmas so no Disney Princess here (but if we get to Disney next summer perhaps Mickey will leave her one ;) ) They are pretty, I didn't realize they had ever been on QVC. I am partial to the Ariel because DD and I are redheads but I think she would pick Sleeping Beauty for the pink dress :rotfl:

I love the idea of buying the beds and getting the wardrobe free.

I did! I have been hesitant to get on the AG bandwagon as I wasn't sure my DD was ready for something like that, and I also felt I would be doing it more for me, than her. Anyway, I bought her Aurora, the bed, the robe & ballerina dress. I will probably suggest to MIL to get the wardrobe. Good to know about the clothes online- never thought of that.

My mistake....the wardrobe won't be free until 10/31(Sun). I saw it in the toy book and was thinking it was in the current weekly circular.

I did not know that QVC had the Princess & Me dolls. So you can only get them at Disney Store, QVC, and TRU, right?

QVC has the set with the ballet outfit and sleepwear, but it only works out to about $5 less than TRU (no shipping if you go to TRU). And TRU is offering the deal on the Armoire posted above, so it sounds like they have the best deal. Thanks for the heads up on the Armoire.

Actually TRU had a deal a few weeks back that if you bought the doll, you got the sleepwear outfit for free. I did not think my dd would be interested in these so I didn't get it, but now she just has to have Tiana (I want Belle myself ;) )

I have it on good authority that Santa may be bringing a Cinderella to our house. Definitely go by Toys R Us and take a look. I thought they were very pretty.

My daughter is getting Tiana and the robe for Christmas. She is going to be thrilled. The dolls are really beautiful. I want to get the bed and other stuff, but it's so expensive. We'll see what kind of deal we can get!

Apparently I am one of the few people who will NOT be buying any of these dolls for my dd, despite her asking for one a few times. They are, by far, the creepiest dolls I've seen in a long time. I will not spend $$$ on a doll that I can't even look at...

That being said, we were at Toys R Us this past weekend and the shelf with these dolls was trashed! They had one Cindy, a few Tianna and a few Auroras. That's IT! They seem to be very popular, and I heard one mom in the aisle saying she's GOT to have the Ariel for her dd for Christmas. I think these are going to be one of the hot things this season!!

I won't be buying them - I saw them at the store and the lips looked really odd to me. I just ordered from AG - it hurt to spend that much money, but I know the quality is good and it is the only thing the girls have asked for so far this year :santa:

If that is all your buying at TRU, your correct that buying there would be your best bet in order to get the armoire. If your just buying the clothes, then QVC is about $8 cheaper. TRU you have to pay tax so your paying about $38.50 for both outfits...QVC your only going to pay $30.50. For me, I have to buy 2 sets so it is even more savings on QVC. For each additional set you buy, the S&H is half off.

I love the way these dolls look in teh store and would love to my a Belle and a Tiana for my girls. My youngest is absolutely obsessed with any kind of doll and my older daughter absolutely loves Tiana. My concern is that my girls (2 and 3) are a little young for them. I have seen a lot of posts and reviews discussing the great quality of the dolls and would hope that my girls could play with them for years to come. But is the quality so great that they can withstand the hurricane a toddler can bring?? :scared1: Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated! I don't mind spending the money if they are a good, durable doll for the girls to play with but don't want to throw money out the window for something they are too young for either. TIA!!!

I'm with the previous posters that said they thought the dolls look a bit odd. Not sure what it is about them. I don't think I'll be getting my dd one for Christmas, she already has 6 AG dolls and is getting Lanie and Felicity for Christmas so we are on a bit of an overload with dolls around here. I do like the bed and armoire though.

As for them looking odd ~ I think they look very much like who they're supposed to ~ Aurora, Belle, Tiana etc ~ they aren't supposed to look like American Girl dolls.......
