Here's my situation as we approach tomorrow's reservation fun:

Have had trip planned for Aug 27-Sept 5 since the 11 month mark and purchased Gold passes for my wife and kid for that trip and our planned one next summer. I have a Platinum that was extended til Dec 14 and I guess a month more if I want now. When everything started to hit the fan I made reservations for Christmas time in case this summer trip was a no go. I figured we could upgrade the passes if need be when we got to the parks.

So now with this reservation system with things as is I don't believe I'll be able to reserve park days over Christmas because of blackouts. Is this something MS could deal with or am I outta luck?

The other option would be to move this summer to February but then my pass will be expired. What is the word on that situation? It must be common

I have heard most are not having luck getting any tickets, including APs upgraded while ticket sales are down.

I think by June 24th that may be an option, but not sure. Call the Disney VIPpassholder line to see if they will be able to help.

is it bad that I worked out that you can sing, "who ya gonna call? DVC-Services!" in nearly the same syllables as the Ghostbusters theme song?

Not bad, brilliant.

Just got off the phone with VIPassholder services, can upgrade currently. They said hopefully soon. Not surprised, but they acknowledged it's annoying due to the timing of when I got the gold passes, Christmas booking, and then the reservation announcement. Doesn't help me, but im not gonna complain when the family is healthy and both my wife and I still have jobs.

I have a feeling they will be allowing early upgrades for APs once they open the system again because too many will fall into your situation.

Can anyone give me advice? I purchased my annual pass last year and activated it on May 15, 2019. I booked a DVC vacation at Beach Club in my 11 month window for May 5, 2020 to May 13, 2020. This would allow me to use my annual pass twice before the expiration date since I live on the West Coast and going more than once a year is cost prohibitive. I also booked a DVC vacation at my 11 month window at the Beach Club in November 2019 for a vacation October 2020 trip and then go again in October 2021. I planned to buy my annual pass for this vacation since October is when I usually always go. My May 5th 2019 trip was cancelled due to Corona Virus. I was told and understood that my passes would be extended 117 days, the number of days the park was closed and then added to the date that the park opens. The original written notification from Disney that I received did not state that the extension would be from when the pass expired on May 15, 2019, which absolutely makes no sense and is totally unfair. 117 days from the original expiration date puts my pass new expiration date to September 9, 2020 which is actually only 60 days. It is totally impossible for me to get a studio at the Beach Club on August 29, 2020 for the same 9 day vacation I had booked in May along with airfare. I requested that Disney allow the 117 days be added to the date the park re-opened which would allow me to use for my booked October 2020 vacation. This would also allow to me to make reservations at a Disney Park. I was told no extensions and that I can not book my park reservation even though I have a upcoming trip planned. Since I do not have an active annual pass and they won't even let me purchase one. Disney is forcing me to cancel my vacation since they can not guarantee me that when they open up the ability to buy a annual pass again, the parks won't already be reserved for each day. This is outrageous! They have totally tied my hands! The cancelled trip in May and now the trip in October that they are forcing me to cancel is costing me a huge monetary loss. PLEASE can anyone give me advice on what to do?

The reason you don’t get the 117 days is because you did not lose 117 days of AP use. You lost from March 16th to May 15th..about 60 days.

That means you should now see something around Sept 11th. However, I have heard you can purchase a renewal right now people have said. That would allow you to cover the trip,

They have now said in October, we will get an additional 30 days because of no hopping or the reservation system...which would make your new expiration around October 11th and your renewal will take yoy until October 2021...

And, my September 11th date is an estimate as I didn’t look at the calendar exactly.
