Who here lives in Maryland? (Added a little poll)

I went to High School in Charles County. My parents still live there between Waldorf and LaPlata. I graduated from the University of Md and got my first teaching job in Frederick, Md at Frederick High School. Met my Dh in Frederick , we were also married there and our first DD was born at Frederick Memorial.
We have moved a number of times but we hope to eventually get back to the Frederick area.
Oh yeah, my DH is a graduate of Towson State.

mom2boys.. Where in PG County did you grow up? I grew up in Fort Washington!

I live in St. Mary's County. Sorry to hear about the Marley Station Disney Store. My son has a lacrosse game in Glen Burnie tomorrow so we plan on visiting the mall.

Wuv Tigger, I went McDonough. My best friend's dad was an Assistant Principal at La Plata High.

Hello to all of you Southern Marylanders - Much of my family lives there now. In fact, one of my brothers & 3 of my cousins graduated from Stone - my other brother from St Mary's Ryken (sp?) Spent Mother's Day in Pinefield visiting my grandmother & aunt. I understand you S MDers will be sparred from the Cicadas - lucky you!

mom2boys - I haven't seen or heard a cicada. What year did your brother graduate from Ryken?

:thewave:
Hi all, another Marylander here. I live in Balto. Co. in Arbutus. The town our Govenor grew up in.

IMy brother graduated from Ryken in 93 - he's a just a pup compared to me.

We've got the cicada's around here. Not in my neighborhood (which is new) but my friend has them in her yard all over the place...it's an older home.

I'm about 5 minutes over the MD line in Pennslyvania, but I work in Maryland and I lived in Harford county for most of my life.

Mom2boys.. we've got some cicadas in our neighborhood (ours is 30+ years old), but I haven't seen one in our yard... yet my neighbor across the street has SWARMS of them. They are GROSS! GROSS! GROSS! I've seen a few birds carrying them around.. or should I say having trouble carrying them around! LOL There were a few on the sidewalk this morning.. saw them on the walk up to school. Of course ALL the kids are facinated and have to stop to check them out. Blech! LOL

Poll for you Marylander's!

How do you get to WDW? Drive, fly, train??

Now that we have kids, we have to drive because it's the least expensive way to go. But, after driving for the first time last year we realized that's how we'd choose to do it anyway! It is SOOOOOOO nice to have our minivan with us down there, gives a lot more freedom to go anywhere, anytime and not have to wait for the WDW buses.

We :moped: our minivan too. We stop overnight on the way down so we are rested & ready to go when we arrive. We drive straight thru (about 16 hrs) coming back. That gives us more time at WDW. The last couple of trips we have prolonged out departure from a few hours to a full day. We love the flexibility. It is much to stressful to be at the airport at a specific time - sometimes we are ready to leave sooner & sometimes we just need a little extra time.

We live in D.C. and we fly to WDW. One of these days we may attempt the drive, but so far, we find it easier to just fly.

We're more Disney Cruise Line people than WDW. We usually fly (Love those FF miles!).

Carole, I'll pm you to see if we know each other in real life. It is a small southern maryland world!
