DznyFan: I'm really enjoying your trip report with all the pictures! The pix just make the report come to life - so much fun!

Time for Wednesday! (really, I do work!)

Our original plan this morning was to get up, go over to the Wilderness Lodge for breakfast at Whispering Canyon Café, then boat over to the Magic Kingdom to take some senior pictures. I had picked Wednesday as a MK day because Wednesday crowds are supposed to be lighter. We needed to be at a bus stop at 7:30 to make our reservation for breakfast. We were all dragging – especially the girls. We got to WL in plenty of time, and got seated. The restaurant was pretty empty for this time of the morning, I guess we just beat the rush. Erin was very quiet and bordering on cranky, and she said that everything had caught up with her and she was exhausted. She requires LOTS of sleep, and we’d been going at a pretty fast pace since our arrival. She had some dark circles under her eyes – not conducive for good photos, and it even took her quite a while before she would eat, but she did pick a little at some breakfast.

Note deer in headlights look and dark circles....

Knowing what would happen, our guest decided to ask for some ketchup,

then somehow, we wound up getting chosen to lead the entire restaurant in the “hokey pokey”. We just took our time, since we decided senior photos were out for that day, and frankly the rest of us (except our guest) was ready to slow down. We wound up just browsing the WL store, and eventually went down to the dock to catch a MK boat.

I couldn't keep my lens from fogging!

P1010322.jpg

We went ahead and went into the MK, but mostly just shopped. Erin had really been wanting to do some looking around to decide what she might want to buy during our trip so we wandered the Emporium complex for a while.

242_G.jpg

The girls decided they wanted to go to DTD, and DH wanted to go back to the room, so we wound up going back to the hotel and splitting off, while I went with the girls to shop. The weather was looking kind of “iffy” – more rain moving in. I was really surprised with World of Disney – it was slower in there than I’d seen in a LONG time, really nice to be able to shop without a mob around.

I was really wanting some pool time by now, and I needed to do some laundry, so I took off to the pool with the dirty laundry – at OKW the laundries are by the pools. Since we weren’t staying in a one-bedroom unit, we didn’t have washers and driers in the room. Lyzziesmom – keep that in mind for your upcoming trip – you’ll have laundry facilities in your room! It really keeps us from overpacking if I just pack for a few days and do laundry. DH and I went down there, and hadn’t been at the pool for long at all before bad weather started moving in. We could hear thunder in the distance, and it was pretty breezy and overcast. After about 15 minutes it turned into a full blown thunderstorm, and security came to the pool and asked everyone to leave. I just stayed in the laundry room and waited for the clothes to be done. It never really rained while I was there – just a lot of lightning.

DH had a work customer of his here who was arriving at the Pop Century that day – it was him and his daughters – their first trip to Disney, so he left and went over there to meet up with him. We had a dinner planned with them later that night, and DH wanted to give him some tips and information to help him out with his trip, in addition to all the information he’d already gotten from me. (He booked his trip through us) The plan was to meet back up at the Studios some time before dinner, and after I got the laundry back to the room, it started pouring! After laundry I wandered down to the Gurgling Suitcase and had a little Turtle Krawl while I wrote postcards to some friends of mine.... :teeth: So I wound up putting our departure to the Studios off a while – to give Erin a chance to get a long nap – but it was still raining even when we left at 6:00.

We just put the crocs and flip flops on, ponchoed up and went in ready to deal with the rain. (I had an umbrella AND a poncho – Erin said “why do you have both? I told her I’d get her an umbrella too – oh, no, I don’t need an umbrella too. (Yeah, and who wound up the driest???? ) We were the only people on the bus, and the driver said that folks were leaving the park in droves. Good! We met up with the client who was there with his two girls, 9 and 14. The 9 yo didn’t want to ride anything, the 14 yo wanted to ride but needed someone to ride with. Since DD’s friend loves the Tower Of Terror, she went on it with the 14 yo, along w/ DH & Erin. Erin doesn’t care much for TOT but went ahead. DH and his friend’s family had already gone to the Little Mermaid show before we got there – primarily to get out of the rain, but also so that the younger one could “do” something. We then traded off riding Rock N Roller Coaster – DH took his customer and older daughter, then got off and we rode it. By the time we were done, it was time to head to dinner, and it had started to absolutely POUR. Yeah – we needed to get from RNRC to 50’s Prime Time in the pouring rain. So much for just wet feet. I mean, I’m talking having to jog through standing water. My shorts actually managed to get wet to about the halfway point. Oh, well! It was all going to dry anyway.

P1010357.jpg

I get to 50’s to check in, and they’ve LOST my reservation. I’m not in the system. A party of 7 w/ no reservation! She looked up my dining reservations (all of them) and found the reservation, but we just weren’t on the list she had on her system! Weird. 50’s Prime Time was a hoot for the girls and I while we were waiting. DH is standing, visiting with his customer; his two girls were sitting on one of the couches, somewhat on the damp side, the 14 yo in typical 14 yo form, with a scowl on her face. Oh, boy, this was going to be a fun meal. There was a cast member, male, fluttering through the living room with his little feather duster in hand, dusting the knick-knacks and shelves. He’s dressed in short sleeved shirt, slicked-down hair and nerd glasses. Michael. I caught him on his way through and told him what a good job he was doing, and the whole thing turned into a long conversation between my girls, him and I. It was great fun! He (in real life) is actually from the same small town that Erin’s friend’s dad was born in so they chatted a bit about that town – but he never broke character. We were at a “family reunion” and so who was I? I explained I was the black sheep distant cousin from Oklahoma!

P1010356.jpg

P1010355.jpg

He wasn’t our server, but he would stop by the table from time to time to visit with me and the girls. The girls decided (these are theatre kids, remember?) that they wanted Michael to be their new best friend, so the plan was to ask him. The skulking 14 yo decided she wanted “in” on it, so she says to him in a most lovely sarcastic tone: “they want you to be their best friend”. OMG if looks could kill. I really thought Erin was going to go across the table and throttle her. And her friend, who is the most cheerful, sunny-dispositioned person I’ve ever met… well, lets just say I saw the dark side.

The younger of the two other girls, the 9 yo was talking about how the Mermaid show was good but “you could see that they just pulled her fins off at the end”. Sad, very sad. And not the thing to say around my two Disney purists who both believe in the Magic, in a very big way. It was still raining heavily at the end of our meal, so instead of staying for the EMH scheduled, we all decided it best to call it a night. It was already close to 10:00!

Linda: I think elephants are pregnant for something like 2 years, so I'm sure it's the same baby elephant, unless there were 2 pregnant elephants at the same time. Those babies are so cute!!

Speaking of TDS, has anyone heard from Lin lately? Is it just me or does it seem like it's been a while since she has posted?

And speaking of missing posters... I've been really thinking about April a lot. If anyone has heard from her (or from Sherri) please let me know. I've really been worried, it's like she just dropped off the planet. I hope she still thinks of us too, it's been a really long time! And April and Sherri, if you're lurking... it hasn't been too long to jump back in and say hello!!

DznyFan: Those 50s PTC pictures are hilarious!! Oh, how well I remember being that sulky 14-yo. I wish I could go back and just enjoy the trips more, rather than wishing I could ditch my parents. Wait... I still wish that sometimes on family trips. ;)

That's funny that you say that about the laundry -- my mom was just over the moon excited about having w/d in the room!! She LOVES doing laundry, and for me it is just a hateful, hateful chore. I may have told this story before but I don't remember if it was here or elsewhere, so if you've read it before please just skip it this time. On our last trip, Lyzzie became enchanted with the DVC channel on the tv. (I know, I must be doing something right!) She laughed and said, "Who in their right mind would want to cook and do laundry on vacation??" We both just turned to each other and said at the same time, very matter-of-factly, "Grammy!" She is now telling us all to only pack 3 or 4 days worth of clothes because she will wash twice on our 10-day trip, for all 7 of us. Yeah, you do that Mom... I'll be at the park. Or the pool. Or the arcade. Or, pretty much anywhere else, thank you!

You know what's weird? DD was actually getting sulky because she wasn't getting enough "family" time, in her opinion. Can you have it any better?? She's at WDW with a good friend who is a fellow Disney freak, and they have their own room and freedoms to come and go if they want - and she's getting moody because she wants to be with us! Awwww....

And really - it's nice having that laundry and kitchen! We usually don't cook, but will have breakfast and the occasional lunch in the room. When we went in Dec 05 with Erin's godparents/our friends/fellow DVCers, my girlfriend baked cookies the day before we checked out - and then we went down to the Hospitality House and passed them out to cast members at our front desk, general store, restaurant, bar and pool! I must say, though, Lyzzie makes a very valid point!

Good morning, gang!!! YAY!!! It's Friday!!!:woohoo: I'm having internet problems this morning, so I'm going to try to post this as fast as I can!!
Lesa and Michele, do you leave tomorrow or Sunday for WDW?? I can't remember. If it's tomorrow.....Woo-Hoo!! If it's Sunday.....hey, you're getting close!!!:yay: :yay:
pozey:: Have fun and drive safely on your trip to the Grand Canyon!!! You did buy that extra DVD player....right??:rolleyes1

I tried to find a pic of breakfast at the Grand Canyon, but the best I could come up with was breakfast at a Holiday Inn Express near the Grand Canyon. Does that count??:teeth:

Enjoy the buffet, everyone!!

I hope you all have a Far-Out Friday!!!:hippie:

Good morning!

Thanks for the buffet this morning Donna. I hope there's coffee because I had a bug swimming in mine this morning!!!:scared1:  I leave tomorrow to drive to MI and then we all leave bright and early on Sunday morning. It's going to be interesting trying to get 12 + Lilly of us and all our stuff to and from the airport. I am wondering if we could have asked for a group rate for the flight.:confused3 :lmao:

I don't know if I told you guys or not, but we got several neighbors to watch Gracie while we are gone. The one neighbor even has her mom who I have never met watching her for a few days for us. Well I told them all thank you in advance because I'm sure no one will be talking to us by the time we get back.:rolleyes1 They are all saying she'll be fine and they may even take her over to their house for a few days. I guess maybe they haven't paid attention my fence, sidewalk wounds, or couch.:scared: :rolleyes1 :lmao: I swear if this dog causes any problems while we are gone, she's otta here!!!:headache:

Dznyfan.....I love the trip report. Erin's face (a little tired and a little cranky) reminds me of what Michele'sface looks like after a few days. (shhhhh, don't tell her I said that):rolleyes1 :lmao:

O.k. I need some pixie dust, prayers, or just plain luck sent my way. They are coming this morning to lay the carpet.:scared: David thinks I'm nuts for not waiting now after everything else that has gone wrong this week. I told him something has to go right and it's going to be the carpet!!!;) I hope!:scared:

Donna, great breakfast, thanks!

Isn't Lin on her cruise? (Lucky...) Don't know what happened to April - I hope all is OK in her life!

Your secret is safe with me!

Oh, good luck with your carpet! (fingers crossed)
Have a WONDERFUL trip - I'm ready to go back and I haven't even been home for a week! That's OKW for you though - HOME. *sigh*

Good morning all, Donna thanks for breakfast!!!

Good Morning!

Lesa, Here's hoping the carpet installation goes smoothly. :wizard:

Dznyfan, the report and pictures are great.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Hey!! What does that mean?!?!?!

Good luck with the carpet.

I'm trying to get all of the laundry done, seems never ending because I am having the kids clean their rooms before we go, so clothes are appearing out of no where!:laundy:

I have to get Matt up soon...can you believe football practice started 2 days ago!! I'm not sure how they do it...Matt says they aren't allowed to use a ball yet??:confused3 This morning it's weight training for 2 hours...no thank you!

Have a great day!

Good Morning!

Thanks for breakfast Donna!

Lesa- I hope the carpet gets installed right!:wizard: You should have gotten where I work to install your carpet! :teeth: :rotfl:

Dznyfan- Great trip report!!!

Pozey- Have fun this weekend!!!

I have new pics of Lilly

She is sound asleep in her bouncy chair and is slowly sliding out of it!!:lmao:

Lesa: Good luck with the carpet installation! You're right... something's got to go right, it's gotta be the carpet. But look at it this way, if the carpet goes wrong too, then the thing that's bound to go right is -- VACATION!! Here's hoping it all goes well.

DznyFan: What a lucky mom you are! I really hope my kids are like that with me when they get older. Even now I can see Lyzzie pulling away a little bit. She would rather read than do just about anything involving me, and really, how can I yell at her for reading? She's such a little me.

Isn't Lin on her cruise? (Lucky...)

D'oh! :headache: I completely forgot -- memory like swiss cheese. Hope she's having a great time!

I'm trying to get all of the laundry done, seems never ending because I am having the kids clean their rooms before we go, so clothes are appearing out of no where!:laundy:

This reminds me of my mom when I was a kid. I never understood why she wanted to clean the house ****-n-span before we went on a trip. I thought it was just a silly waste of time and effort. NOW I understand! I do like coming home to a clean house, rather than coming back to the clutter and feeling let down that I'm back in reality.

Hey!! What does that mean?!?!?!

Good luck with the carpet.

You should be here right now. I have stuff everywhere, and I seemed to have lost all the stuff I got ready to pack.:sad2:
