Thank God for the DIS! I found a huge thread about that upgrade, and a lot of people were able to book it and keep their free dining. I tried to call but they are closed. My dad doesn't believe it, he keeps saying, "What's the catch?" I try to tell him it's just the Disney way of dealing with overbooking, but he still is skeptical. I really hope we can get this upgrade, I'm so excited I can't even sleep!!

Lyzziesmom~ That is so exciting let us know how it works out! I would probably roll over if we were ever offered an upgrade. I know it sounds bad to pass off your daughter, but it is so close to her birthday you better save the money while you can. I'm sure it is not going to hurt disney's pocket.

I'm glad I came across this thread before we book our vacation for next year. I would love to meet up with fellow diser's. We were thinking Nov, but October would be just as good. My ds birthday is on Halloween so we might do it to celebrate his birthday anyway.

My dh thinks I am nuts, but I already started my spreadsheet for next year's trip even though we haven't even decided on a date yet. Oh well he loves that our trips run very smoothly so he can just keep looking at me like I am crazy

UnderDog:: Thanks for the fruit snack!! How did you know I'm trying to lose weight? Now, if you could put that fruit in a blender and add rum.....would it still be a healthy drink??:scratchin Just wondering.....;)

I think so! Rum is a fruit right?:lmao:

More Fruit:

I found a recipe for Macadamia, Banana, Pineapple Pancakes!! They're my way of eating more fruit and less junk.

Ok, let's see what DznyFan is planning to do today!!

Friday, June 8
D-MGM for STAR WARS WEEKENDS episode II
Lunch - ?
Dinner - Coral Reef
Evening???
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's not forget what she has planned for her afternoons.....
Afternoons? Spent back at OKW around 1:00 for some hard-core air conditioning, naps, and a the occasional little bottle of Arbor Mist at the pool!!! Cool off, back out at dinner and then evenings in the parks
------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is thundering out right now. A cold front is supposed to be coming through today; bringing some rain and thunderstorms with it. It was extremely windy yesterday!!:scared:

Lesa:: Glad to hear your plants may be safe from Madison!!
Nathan's last full day of school was actually on May 21st!! His school started about Aug. 17th and they used hardly any snow days!!

lyzziesmom:: WOW!! That is fantastic news about your upgrade!! Which resort would you pick?? I think I would have to go with OKW!!

Surfergrl31:: We understand your need for planning and spreadsheets. WE would NEVER look at you like you were nuts!! :scared: ;)
You know you're very welcome to meet up with us; after all, we're the Cliqueless Clickers!!

UnderDog:: Thanks bunches for the strawberries!! They weren't hard to spot at all!! Yeah right.:rolleyes1

I have a question for you girls (and guys, too). I have been wearing a one-piece bathing suit for years. Even when I was a size 6 or 8, I've always worn a one-piece. Not that I'm thinking of going string bikini or anything (insert gag smilie), I was just curious to know what type of suit you all wore. Since it was so cold in Feb., nobody swam and I was just wondering. There have been so many comments lately on TV and on other threads here on the Dis.....I would just like your opinions. :beach:

Well... I really hate to say goodbye, but it's time for me to fly!!!!!!!!!!!!:wave2:

Linda: Yeah, they changed CRT to plastic wands, we have a ton of those already that the girls don't play with.

before Sept. 17th, that would be a LOT better for me, because Lyzzie will still be 9 and a still a child by WDW standards. I know it's not all about me, but I'd hate to have to pay so much more for her just because she turned 10 a few weeks earlier. I know this is bad to ask, but do they check ID's for kids? Would I be able to pass her off as 9 if her bday was a matter of weeks ago? I know they don't check at WDW, but I was thinking more about the cruise portion, since you need passports and all. I'm such a horrible DISer sometimes!!
I LOVE Ohana!!!! The girls will love it. Esp the coconut races and hula dancing, and limbo:banana: we love it. I don't blame you not wanting the dinner at CRT...we had a blast but I liked the litho and pix package better;)

As for the land/sea you have to take her birth certificate, actually I think we'll all need passports, so they will know her age for the cruise part.:guilty: I don't have a problem going early Sept...or about anytime really. I know Mike wouldn't want Kenny to miss the first week of school but that is usually around Aug. 20th...so any other time is good. Sept. is cheaper too ;)

Linda, what other book did you get? I am hopng to get a new lens (18-200mm) and use that on my camera mostly. That way, I don't have to worry about changing lenses all the time (except for the 50mm).

Oh, you also may want to get a Rocket blower. It helps to clean off the sensor.
this one..
"Understanding Digital Photography: Techniques for Getting Great Pictures"
Bryan Peterson; Paperback; $16.47
it's from the same author as the other book. A rocket blower..never heard of it. I better get one of those! Thank you!!! I think I'm going to have to grab a 50mm and a 28-300 and see how those do. We need a trip down just to take pix!:rolleyes1

That is awesome!! the tough part would be choosing SS or OKW... I'd probably go w/OKW :cloud9: That is so awesome! I hope you get it! I've never been upgraded like that.:cheer2:

isn't planning 1/2 the fun:cloud9:  :woohoo: we went in Feb. and it was so much fun. I can't wait to go again. I might be able to squeeze in another trip before out meet...I'm sure trying anyway! I really want to go check out all the DVC properties and see about joining.
Lyzziesmom...I think you should look into it if you can. As much as you go...and w/the discounts you get... wow. You could buy a 50 point resale really cheap and then get $100 of ap's and discounts at a lot of restaurants and tours!!! I think I even have Mike convinced. My boss is going to buy now too:cool1:
I think so! Rum is a fruit right?:lmao:
:rotfl: sure, sounds good to me!

Dznyfan's itinerary looks just heavenly!! I want to try Coral Reef. I think Kenny would love it!!

I'm w/you on the swimwear. I've been pretty much sz8 since Kenny has been born and have worn a 1 piece since then. Mostly b/c I'm just so self conscious. I have a few cute 2 pc. that have the tankini top that are cute, I just haven't worn them. I keep telling myself ...when I loose these 10# I'll look so much better, then I'll wear it:rolleyes1 I think it is totally what you are comfortable in. There are plenty of 2 pc. that cover adequately and still look good.

/
Donna would breakfast be at Kona's this morning by any chance?:cool1: I wear a 2 piece, but the top is one that comes down almost to the top of the bottoms. I've gotta hide that tum tum a little bit so no one runs screaming!;) :lmao: I think those are very flattering on most figures,:) at least I hope so because I think I look rather o.k. in it! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Last day of school!:dance3: :yay:  I may not be dancing by next week.:rolleyes1 Then by the middle of July I will be counting the days left until school starts again.:lmao:

Lizziesmom....One year we went we were booked at I think PO and we got bumped up to Animal Kingdom Lodge savanna view.:cool2: I kept thinking there was a catch too! I would also pick OKW, the rooms are a bit bigger.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Thats it Linda, a tankini!! I couldn't for the life of me think this morning what they were called.

Good Morning!

Thanks for the breakfast Donna!

Thanks for the snack Underdog!

Lyzziesmom- That is awesome about the upgrade!!! I don't know where I'd stay.

I wear a tankini. There is NO way you're going to get me in a bikini!

The party last night was good. There's nothing like free margaritas!:thumbsup2 (thumb)

Good morning everyone. Happy Friday!!

Donna thanks for the Macadamia Nut Pancakes!! :woohoo:

Well I was 10 minutes late to work today, but I GOT THE UPGRADE!! We got upgraded to 3 1-bedroom villas at OKW - I told the guy (Owen) I don't care which of the two resorts, as long as we can all be in the same one and get at least one 1-br. He was AWESOME!! OH, and somehow each room was $5 less than our rooms at ASMu? AND we kept our free dining!

I was freaking out because first I couldn't find my reservation number, I printed everything out at home this morning and grabbed it up & ran to Mom's house, and then found that the 2nd page (with the #'s on it) didn't print! Ok, no problem... I'll just open my email and get it from there, since I emailed it to myself at work. Mom's computer froze up!! Then her neighbor called to invite Lyzzie for a sleepover tonight, and was very chatty, and Mom's house is in a cell phone dead spot so that wasn't an option. Then her computer froze AGAIN!! I gave up and called WDW without my reservation #, it was fine. THEN, they couldn't find the pin code on my reservation!! After a ton of questions, Owen said, "Oh there it is, I don't know why I didn't see it before." Aaaack! So we finally get everything confirmed, he puts a hold on all 3 rooms, cancels our original reservations, and gets to the last one and says, "Oops." Now that is NOT what I wanted to hear right then. I was already 5 minutes late leaving for work... no problem, I leave 10 minutes early anyway. Owen says there's an error message, can I hold on? I told him the suspense is KILLING me!! I also told him I was pretty excited to get upgraded 2 years ago to a preferred room at Pop, I don't know how WDW is going to top this one! :rolleyes1 Anyway, he finally got it all done, I did my little happy dance, Mom came running because she heard me WOOHOOOOOing, and all is good in the world!!!

Now to research OKW and see what I've gotten myself into...

surfergrl31: I always make spreadsheets too, welcome to the WDW Spreadsheet Addicts Anonymous.

Donna: Swimsuits? Yikes!! I actually wore a 1-piece forEVER, since about the 8th grade, because I have a very weird shape. I am very hippy and have long legs and a short torso, and wear a size 18. :scared: A couple years ago I found the perfect suit for me. It cost 4 times what I usually pay for one, but it FITS and looks decent, so what the heck, I bought it. It's a two-piece, but it doesn't really look like one. The top is a pink & black polka-dot halter with thick straps that tie behind the neck and in the back - the straps are thick enough to cover my little back-roll! The lower part of the top is kind of loose and flowy, so it hides the tummy, and is long enough to cover the waistband of the bottoms. The bottoms are a black skort-type bottom that does wonders for hiding my hips. I actually have an hourglass shape in the suit, it's lovely. It was from JC Penney, but since I got it about 3 years ago I have no idea if they still sell that style. It's very flattering, almost reminds me of an updated 50's style which I really love.

Linda: Darn it on needing a birth certificate. I really think anytime before Lyzzie's birthday would be good, especially if it's cheaper too!! Who knows, maybe there will be free dining again next year?

I just don't know if I could afford DVC. It seems like a lot of money, but I hadn't considered resale. Don't you have to put down a big chunk of money up front? I really have no idea how the whole thing works, I never thought much about it since I usually travel on the cheap anyway. $100 ap's? Really? :woohoo:

Hi Lesa! My dad still thinks they are going to make us sit through a timeshare speech or something -- just can't believe they randomly upgrade people. On his computer this morning was about 12 windows open where he was googling "Disney upgrades" and getting all kinds of bad information! Mostly he was looking at the "guides" you can buy from former CMs with "secret insider" information... geez Dad, all you had to do is ASK me where to look. Hey don't let those kids drive you too crazy this summer!!

UnderDog: I like your new idea of fruit!

Hi to everyone else and hope you all have a fantasmic Friday!

lyzziesmom...oops.. its $100 off the ap w/the dvc discount ;)

check out these sites:
grrr. it won't work... its no spaces but: dvc by resale.com
http://www.atimeshare.com/disney/buy-disney.html
http://www.dvc-resales.com/dvclisting.cfm

you can find some really good prices! If you figure even 60 points for $4500 you pay 10% down and you can finance the rest through them. a loan for 4k is pretty cheap ;) esp. considering that is for vacations for the next 35 YEARS! 60 points would pay for a studio for several nights at 8 points a night for most of the times we go anyway. I figure Sun-Thurs at 8 points per night...there is 40 points for a 5 night trip and you still have 20 points left toward another trip... you might want to buy more or less points but you get the idea ;) considering it is for most places 35 years...that is pretty cheap! The annual dues for that many points is about $250...give or take. I think it is more affordable than you think, considering how much you go and what you really get.

Congrats on the upgrade!!! I can't wait to hear how it is!!!

Linda- I didn't know owning DVC was for 35 years! I thought it was much less than that. That is something I might look into in the future.

here is how I'm thinking... :scared: I know:rotfl2:

ok If I buy 200 dvc points at OKW it runs about 16k
the annual fees are $4.39 per point right now.. so over the 35 years that is a total of $30,730. I'm sure that will go up, but so will the value of the points ;)

You can rent the points easily for $12 a point... so if I did nothing but rent these points for $12 over 35 years...that is 7000 points and rental is 84k

I take that 84k and subtract the 16k I paid for the points, and the 30k in annual dues...I still have $37,270... or if I actually used these points and divided that up for 35 years of vacations, it averages to $1064 a year spent on 200 points. Which could be FIVE 5 NIGHT STAYS!!!! Am I missing something or is that great for $1064 a year???? Yes, that is just lodging, but that is pretty fantastic if I'm figuring this even close ;) and figuring traveling in the value seasons b/c we hate crowds anyway!

Or I guess you could just figure that the 16k orig. price and 30k in dues...46k divided by 35 years...$1314... give or take..still pretty darn good to me ;)

Linda- I didn't know owning DVC was for 35 years! I thought it was much less than that. That is something I might look into in the future.

they start at 50 years but most of them have been going for 15 years, so they have 35 years left on the deed ;) SS and AKV are the only ones that are different, I believe.

Here are the annual dues per point.

Beach Club Villas - $4.63
BoardWalk Villas - $4.85
Wilderness Lodge Villas - $4.72
Hilton Head - $4.98
Old Key West - $4.39
Saratoga Springs - $4.12
Vero Beach - $5.62

Linda: My head is spinning with all those numbers! I'm afraid to even buy a car because of the payments... DVC does sound like a great deal but I think I'll wait until I'm a little more financially stable. Anyone know where I can find a rich hubby who loves Disney?

Mike and I have talked about buying DVC. I think if we ever do, I will buy resale and probably under a 100 points. It really is a good deal.

I really want to rent points once so we can see what it's like. The only problem is I worry since you have to trust the person you are renting from.
