Happy Birthday Courtney!!
Very pretty cake DznyFan!! I will have to show that to Courts later.

We are having Colton and Courtney's birthday party Saturday. Something different.........we are having it at the Oklahoma Aquarium.

DznyFan: I got a 70%. If I did that when I was in school, I'd have got a whuppin!

Turns out my health insurance does not cover eye exams. Dang it! BUT the eye dr. had a rebate form for the brand of contacts that I wear that is good for 6 months free if I order a one year supply. Since I usually order 6 months at a time, that worked out quite well - except the part where you have to pay up front and then wait for the rebate. I'd have much preferred an instant discount, but I'll take whatever kind of deal I can get, that's $200 I'll be getting back!

At first he wanted to switch me to a new brand that helps combat dry eyes, for "a little bit higher cost." Their definition of "a little bit" is nowhere near the same as mine - it would have been an extra $320 per year. That would buy a lot of eye drops! Then when I said I'll just stick with what I've been wearing for years, and by the way can I just get my Rx and order elsewhere, that's when he said, Oh yeah I almost forgot about this rebate! Yeah right.

Sorry your insurance doesn't cover the contacts. Mine covers exams and a 6 month supply of contacts. I switched brands last year and the price difference is $30 a BOX (more).

Amber: The price difference for me would have been $40 a box. A box has 90 days of contacts in it, and I would need a box for each eye, 4 times a year. I was afraid my insurance wouldn't cover it... we don't have a dedicated vision plan, and I was told the health plan may or may not work for the exam only. *sigh* Oh well, what can ya do?

I feel like I'm practicing for free dining today! I forgot that a caterer was coming to work today and bringing samples, so when I got back from the eye dr. there was roast chicken, BBQ beef, pasta, cornbread, and a bunch of other stuff here. AND my mom is making steak & potatoes tonight and invited us to stay! I'm still stuffed from lunch -- and no theme parks around here to walk it off before dinner.

That's a huge price difference, Lyzziesmom, and it stinks your insurance isn't covering your exam!!
Amber your price increase was pretty hefty too, but I guess such is the case with the 'new' contact lens materials they're using, as I understand. Mine about doubled for a year's supply, I remember that! Used to, my insurance would cover the exam, and a full year of contacts. Last time, I got the exam and a 6 month supply. thankfully I've still got a couple months.

SURPRISE!!!
:scared1: EEK!! WDW Dining charged my checking account for our CRT reservation in june!!!! $193.00 out of my account - and we're on the dining plan. I'm on the phone with them now, confirming that they're reversing the charge.... like NOW.

(I sure am glad I check my checking account every couple days!)

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?? I just got this link from a friend.

Whew! I am! :rotfl:

find out here!

Woo Hoo!! 19 out of 20!!

Now......Colton is in 5th grade........He has NOT been taught a LOT of those questions. And I work with him with his homework on a daily basis.

lyzziesmom......Do you buy your contacts from your optometrist? If you do, I would suggest looking at 1800Contacts or JustLenses.com. You can get the exact same brands cheaper.

For instance, when Chase had to get contacts recently, the optometrist just went ahead and ordered him some. Cost? $110.

I priced the exact same lenses on JustLenses.com and the price? $54.

Check around.

(I got 80%)

If that's the same one that's been going around on the internet, I took it and got 3 wrong. I don't remember what percentage that was. But I'm actually getting my Pk-6 teaching license, so I really hope I'm a wee bit smarter than the 5th graders I may be teaching.

BTW... many of those questions were above the level that 5th graders would be taught, and quite "trivial" in nature (stuff you either know because you picked it up somewhere or you don't). It isn't necessarily stuff you would've studied a lot in school.

Usually, no. The best price I've found is at Sam's Club. However, with the rebate offered at the eye dr, the price was significantly less than Sam's, and not offered anywhere but independent practitioners. It says right on the form that it's not valid at Sam's, WalMart or Costco.

You have to be VERY careful when pricing those "discount" lens sites. I nearly bought from them last year, and I was so excited to see that my contacts were nearly 1/2 price on 1-800-CONTACTS. Then, just before I hit the "send" button to purchase, I noticed the catch: their quantity per box is not the same. I wear daily contacts, which are sold in boxes of 90. A box at the eye dr. is $50. At Sam's Club, a box is $35-45, depending on any sales/rebates. 1-800-CONTACTS sells the box for I think around $25-30 (at the time I looked last year). BUT, their box only holds 30 lenses, which was not disclosed until the very end of the purchasing process. I suppose with "regular," non-disposable lenses they could be a good deal, but it wasn't going to work for me. I do like ordering from my eye dr. because the turnaround time is very fast, and they have the manufacturer deliver straight to my house rather than to their office, so I don't have to make another trip to get them and the shipping is free. With the rebate that my eye dr. offered me today, I am getting eight boxes of contacts, a one year supply, for $200. You just can't beat that - I usually pay that much for a 6 month supply. Since I often don't wear them on weekends, they will last me even longer.

Whew! I was beginning to feel a little like a dimbulb. :rolleyes1

I snuck over for a minute...I am filing our taxes...FINALLY!!

Blake is working on running some electrical lines down here for the DVD and TIVO. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Lilly's dresser is coming between 9a-noon. I still have more things to get before I can call that room done.

I swear this has been the least relaxing vacation!!

I hope everyone has a Super-Dooper Saturday!!!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

My goodness; I fell as if I need to do a weekly recap. I've been on the Dis to read, but I seem to run out of time to post much.

Michele::Sounds like the basement and Miss Lilly's room are shaping up nicely!!:woohoo: Yeah for getting your way about the dresser delivery. I would have been pretty miffed about it too!
Please post the new pics of Lilly as soon as you get a chance, I can't wait to see how she's grown!!princess: ( I noticed you added a "princess" to your siggie...how adorable!!:cutie: )

Lesa:: I hope you had a wonderful birthday!! How sweet of your girls to take you out to eat!!! One year for Mother's Day I had my choice of where to go for dinner and I chose Chuck E. Cheese. (Obviously, for Nathan!!:lmao: )

pozey::When do you get to start the new job? Is it coming up in a couple of weeks?
I was so relieved to see that Courtney's teeth were not damaged. Whew!!! Another close call for your little princess!!
.........Congrats on your 2000th post!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Dznyfan:: I don't think I mentioned that I thoroughly enjoyed your New York Pics!! They were great!!! Makes me want to go!! I would definitely want to go with someone that had experience in New York, that would be so awesome!!
I hope your CRT problems got resolved.

Linda:: Kenny's Easter pictures are handsome, as usual!! His new bike looks like the perfect fit for him. Does he have his training wheels off yet? Nathan had his on until Spring of "05. He was 6 1/2 before he felt confident enought to finally let us take them off. The trainers were up so high they didn't touch ground much anyway!!
Good luck to Mike on the court decision. His ex getting escorted out of the courtroom? There IS a justice system after all!!!:thumbsup2

YourMajesty:: Your episode with the drive home and the police situation sounded pretty scary!! Thank goodness you went by earlier and avoided all of the traffic jams, Cupcake.:scared1:
Have you been to the Y anymore? I'm still waiting for the weather to improve so I can start my walking routine. I don't think I'd live through anything more strenuous.

Amber:: Sorry about the problems with your mom. I'm sure she's just stressing....or trying to mess with you. She'll get down there and have the time of her life and if she doesn't, at least next time you'll know. Here's some pixiedust for a terrific vacation.:pixiedust: :pixiedust:

Ashley:: At least you got a preferred room and your ADR's!!! I doubt that you will be a your resort much, but maybe something for one of the other Values will open up before your trip. People change their minds all the time...just keep calling!!
BTW...Boma sounds great!!! I'd love to eat ther someday!!!

Yolanda::I'm glad to hear you escaped the snow!!! Just think, next year at this time you'll be in a milder climate enjoying your new home!!!
Drop by and say "Hi" when you get a chance!!:wave2:

lyzziesmom:: You sure do have your hands full trying to please everyone with the ADR's. I guess if they don't like it they can make their own!!
Just think, in a couple of weeks you and Lyzzie will be able to enjoy yourselves at WDW!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Nicole:: My curiosity has gotten the better of me... what is a Mojitooooo Club Stalker?? Inquiring minds want to know.:teeth:

2x2s:: Any news from the Dr. or insurance?? Is this the weekend you have to deal with your car lease?? Good luck with that!! Did you decide on the Mazda?? I think you'll be happy with it.
Post when you can. I'm thinking about you.:flower3:

I went to the dentist yesterday to finish putting on my crown. I wouldn't have made the appt. for the 13th had I remembered it was a Friday!!:scared1: Everything went reletively smooth and the next visit the last of this month is for a cleaning only.:cheer2:
Today is my errand day and helping Gary with the basement. Our local dept. store has a coupon for 50% off from 9am-1pm; I should probably take advantage of that to save some $$$!!!

I hope everyone has a super Saturday and I'll talk with you all later!!!:chat:

Happy Birthday, Courtney!!!
