My 12 year old son is getting BIG!! Just think mini-linebacker...he's already over 165 pounds and is passing my 5'8 height! My two daughters are 9 and 10 and will share the other bed in our room, but with my son getting so big, I wondered if some of the resorts that fit 5 in a room (BCR, YC, Poly, CR, GF, BWI) might have a bigger/more comfy daybed than the others...I want him to be comfortable and I hate that he's always the one getting the daybed, but atleast I can get him the biggest one...I saw one on the pictures of room threads at BC and it looked kind of small....I thought the Poly ones were bigger, but they've been remodeled since we were there last and I don't know what size they are now...

thanks for your help!!!
Tara

The daybeds in the rooms we've had with one (CR, Poly, BC, YC, GF) have all been the same size as a standard twin size bed. We've always had an adult of average to tall height use it and no problems with comfort. I think the most comfortable ones from just a general comfort standpoint were the ones at Poly and CR, but none of them slept badly.

I think that trundle beds are really meant for children under 9, since they are made to accomodate someone under a certain height, I think it might be just under 60"??

I don't think that the OP's DS would fit, and if one of her DD's were to sleep here, it still would present a problem with having her son sleep with the other DD.

If OP is considering a Deluxe, that would be great, but another option would be the family suite at All Star Music. DS could sleep on the couch, and then DD's could have the chair and ottoman, plus would have 2 bathrooms, that you would not have in a deluxe. Another plus would be that mom and dad would be able to have quiet time at night, and more room to hang out.

My nephew, who is 15 years old and 6ft tall stayed with us at the POLY for a few nights and he slept on the day bed...He didnt complain about it but I think it's because my sister threatened him.:rotfl:

 That poor boy, I'm thinking that might be what we resort to! :) I've never considered anything but the Deluxe hotels because 2 of our children have pretty bad asthma..the hotels that open directly to the outdoors are harder on them....all that pollen and stuff gets into the room and stays there...our worst time was at AKL, we had our balcony opened just for one day but there was a smoker right below us and they chainsmoked all the time, it only took one day to put us in the hospital....they've had better years the past three so hoping they're "growing out" of it...although I know you never grow out of it, but we've only had to use rescue inhalers 3-4x v. nebulizers 10x a year....
Thanks for the tips! We usually let our 12 year old sleep with my husband one or two nights so he won't be STUCK on that bed...and then one of the girls takes it..and I get a girl with me! :)

thanks!!!

My kids fight over the daybed at the GF! They both say that it is really comfortable!:)

The one at CR was fine. My friend is 6'2, 245 pounds. He had no problem with the day bed.

I think CR or Polyn is your best deal.

there day beds are really twin beds.

the others are day beds - not true beds.

you might consider getting a 2-bedroom DVC resort

it has a king bed, queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom, then either 2 queens or 1 queen and a double sleeper sofa in the second bedroom.

if you got one with the 2 queens (dedicated only except OKW) then he would have a bed too.

VWL is not the Polyn - but it isn't far from it.

remember you can rent from a DVC member and say you some money. just don't rent on fri/sat - too expensive

The one's at the POLY were quite nice, definitely big enough for an adult!

My boys always fight over the daybed at the Poly. My oldest was 5'9 and 145lbs last year when we went. Our problem was getting him up in the morning! The daybeds are very comfortable here as I'm sure they are at the other deluxe resorts.
