We are planning a trip home:cool1: in mid Feburary with just our two oldest daughters:thumbsup2 , age 37 and 35, no son in laws and no grand children:( , was wondering what the weather and parks are like? The older one has been to the "world":cloud9: once the younger has never been there. Plan on staying for 8 days at AKL and OKW, maybe seeing Kennedy and those great coasters:scared1: :scared1: at Bush in Tampa. Can hardly wait!!

Mardi Gras is often in Feb so we've been several times. As always, weather is hit and/or miss. Can be cold or nice. Hard to say.

President's Week (in 2009, 2/14-2/21) is quite busy. Otherwise, parks are moderate. Weather is hit more often than miss, at least from my frozen tundra upper-midwest perspective.

This may be a ridiculous question but....President's day is the third Monday in Feb so does that always mean that the third week of Feb is always President's week?

Yes, Presidents week is the 3rd week of February. We have gone twice the week before Presidents week and both times, the crowds were light. Weather is a lottery though. Once it was very warm and the other time we needed jackets most of the time. Either way, we had a great time. I'd recommend it!

I once went after Valentines, watch out for the large Daytona 500 crowds before raceday (Actual raceday is OK)! WDW is very busy before the 500. (Must be a lot of DH's that convince DW to go to the 500 if they can first take the family to WDW!)

in '09 There is a shootout on 2/7 and qualifying on 2/8. with various other events before the big race on 2/15.

As mentioned, the weather can be fairly cool and rainy to decently warm and sunny.

We went to SSR in Feb 2008 it was the week of the 11th or 18th can't remember. The parks were empty, it was just the wife and I -we had a blast. Walking distance to DTD was very nice perk. The weather was nice except two days it was pretty cold for this area (we are from WI so cold is definitely a relative term) we had jackets and shorts. I think it was the two coldest days of the year for the area according to the news.

We plan on going again in late Jan early Feb again this year, just stay away from anything major going on. This time worked out great for us because we didn't have the kids so we didn't care about the pool and hey it was cold here but WI had all time record snowfall so it was nice to get away :cool1:

We've been there during Feb Pres Week a few times and for us, it's our favorite time of year to go. You may have cooler days, you may have swimming days. Parks are not too crowded, waits aren't too long. We love this time of year, there's low to no humidity and we'd rather have a chance of cooler weather than too hot.

We are going to try a week in Jan this year, my college age kids only have the month long winter break off together. Good luck and have fun

We went the week before President's weekend in Feb. 2007 (this included Valentine's Day). The crowds were heavier than we expected and got heavier as we got closer to the weekend (Thursday - Friday) because the parks were filled with Daytona 500 fans. I did not expect all the 500 fans, but it certainly makes sense. We didn't pick the week to visit - a family event in Florida did.

The weather was in the high 70's early in the week and rainy and cold off and on later in the week. We planned well and had a fantastic time!

Thanks for the answers, we arrive on the 8th and leave on the 16, so we will get a bit of the holiday crowd, but it doesn't sound too bad.

thanks again

We went this past Feb. from 22 - 29th. It was our first time in February and honestly, our last. I am not trying to be discouraging...but here are our reasons:

1. More crowded than we are used to
2. Weather was very iffy -- the first few days were ok, our day at Sea World was FREEZING (!) but in a way that kept the crowds away
3. We couldn't swim like we usually do and there was no way we would do Typhoon Lagoon!

We are going this September and although that poses hurricane risks, it's worth it to us to have no crowds, perfect warm weather (although it's pretty humid). We have gone many many times in Sept/Oct and always had perfect vacations. In sum, I think February is hit or miss...

Utah,
I, too, do not have a great desire to return in Feb.
As far as September goes, remember "Free Dining" for cash guests is 8/24 - 9/20, so it will be more busy than it used to be and there may not be many or few Table Service reservations remaining...
I'm trying starting 9/28 this year.

I have been once in feb - it was the 1st week of feb. We lucked out with weather- it was pretty warm and pleasant in the day but cold at night. The parks were empty- it was a lot of fun.

You should have gone the week before. We were there then and using TGM had no issues whatsoever with crowds (walked onto practically everything). I maxed out on Fast Passes, here is what I had in hand by 11am in the MK on Wednesday 2/20:

Cold water? Pools at BWV were heated and toasty, we did Sea World on P-day and it was fine, not even that busy. Typhoon Lagoon on Tuesday was quiet, water there was also heated so it was great.

We went in February 2006 and February 2007 and it was cold both times. We didn't go this February. Even though the crowds were not bad, we want to try another time of year when it might be warmer weather. We have our first trip booked as DVC members for November 08 and are looking forward to it very much!

we went this year feb 29- mar 7. We lucked out weather wise. We got to swim most days, not humid yet. The park crowds seemed fine. The only downfall is everything closes early. Not a lot of night activity.

President's Day week was FANTASTIC this year. Great weather...we swam a lot.

The first 2 weeks are wonderful. Walk on most rides more than once. With that being said the weather is iffy. The first 2 days it was so cold we had to wear fleece jackets and gloves. Most days I found it too cool to swim and I'm from Canada. The week starting Presidents Day started off busy. By Thursday it was wall to wall people. The closer to Presidents week the warmer the weather became. We even had a couple days where it was 80f in the afternoon but the evenings are still cool.:goodvibes

DS and I went this past Feb 8-13th. The weather was wonderful! It was perfect park touring weather. Not hot, but not too cool. We were able to swim each day from about 10:30-2pm as that was when it seemed the warmest. We saw alot of people in the pool at WL in the evening, but it was chilly then. You could see steam coming up from the pool. Since they are heated, you could swim, but would need to run to the room once you got out because it was cold. Not many people in the VWL pool, but some in the whirlpool in the evenings. I basically wore capri pants and lightweight tops with short and long sleeves. I did not bring a jacket for the evenings, but DS had one and used it a few times. I did hear that the week prior they had a cold spell and sold out of gloves and mittens at the shops.

If I didn't care about taking DS out of school for a week, I would take him there at this time every year. The park crowds were manageable and as I said before, the weather made park touring easy.

I ran across my room card from Feb and I guess it was Feb 25-29 that we were at SSR. I agree with point two and three, but I have to disagree with point one. We got on everything with no wait or did a fast pass. I thought the park was pretty empty. However we didn't have the kids so just the fact of not hauling them around could have had a big impact on our crowd perception:confused3
