I have been checking all the web sites for a better price from either Newark or LaGuardia to MCO, and the best I came up with was $255 on Delta/Song from LGA, the dates and times we prefer. This is the flight we usually take, but have paid around $170-$180 the last couple of years.

I checked Spirit's website, and for the dates we need, and pretty close to the times, the fare is $189.20.

What can you all tell me about this airline. Good experiences, bad experiences, age and type of aircraft, on-time %'s, seat assignments, etc. Should I book with them, or wait for Delta to lower the fare? Our dates are 7/3-7/11.:headache:

We have flown many times out of Atlantic City on Spirit. We have never had a flight delay. It is a no frills airline, which means no meals but you do get a beverage and a snack. No tv either. But they are very friendly and we have always had great experiences with them. Their web site has info about the type of aircraft that they fly. www.spiritair.com

Come on guys! More than one person has flown on Spirit Air from these boards, haven't they?:scratchin

I have been trying to be positive about Spirit Airlines. We are flying from O'hare to Orlando in April. We booked the tickets on-line for the ability to choose our own seats at the 90 day mark. Well, they made a change in flight times and now (through many calls) have found out that you can not pick your seat if a change has been made (they changed it not me), and they wanted to put us on a return flight that was WAAYYY too early. I did have to impress upon them that I did not make any changes, they did, so they were able to get us on a later flight back home. So I will have to wait until check in to choose seats.

Again, I am trying to stay positive:teeth:

Have flown out of Atlantic City on Spirit a few times. Check in is effortless as is parking at the airport. It is nothing like the hectic pace of Newark Airport.
The flights have always been fine and on time.
That being said, there is absolutlely no leg room and the planes are very old. While I am confident that they are properly maintained and that Spirit has a spotless safety record, the age of the planes makes me a bit nervous. However, for all I know, when I fly Continental, the planes could be as old or older.

You need to allow plenty of time to check in for your return flight. Orlando allows curb side check in so we figured we could do that. However, Spirit doesnt allow that. We almost missed our flight because we were at the end of an extremely long check in line and then a huge security check point.
I would recommend flying Spirit.

We have flown Spirit several times out of AC and they where always on time, the equipment on one of the flights was over 20 years old, but seemed well maintained! The other flight was a MD80 (I think thats the type of aircraft) and it was fairly new! No meals, just peanuts and beverage, check in was no hassle, and the crews seem very friendly. My daughter has flown them several times and never had a problem.

We used to fly Spirit a lot from LGA to DTW. When we flew with them, they didn't have their own ticket counter at LGA and had to use someone else's and usually had 2 people working, so the delays were veryyyy long to check in. They didn't have a computer system either, so everyone was manually checked in off of a piece of paper. It was a very frustrating experience each time we flew them. This was about a year and a half ago though, so things may have changed by now.

Also, they didn't allow any bags with wheels on the flights, even if they were carry on wheelie bags, and that really irked me because all the stuff we wanted on the plane WITH us, was going to have to be checked!

Did you check JetBlue's prices? They are out of JFK, but are a much nicer airline than Spirit.
