Do you love it, do you hate it? what kind do you have. Do you use chemicals. I needs the in's and out's. I'm comptemplating one.

Thanks!

I bought the Haan Steam Mop from QVC earlier this year. Only thing we use is water. It heats up very quickly. I do like it a lot. I hated getting out the mop and bucket and I had tried the Swiffer Wet Jet too - but this is so much better.

I like not having to buy any cleaners and it seems to clean the floors really well. We just moved into a new house a year ago and there are alot of wood floors in the house. I only wish the cord was longer on it.

My DS, age 17, has been my hands/knees washer as I have neck problems that bother me when I wash my floors that way, but DS is home less and less so I realized I needed an alternative. I bought a Shark steam mop at WalMart this past weekend. I have just used it once, with nothing but water, and was happy how it cleaned my wood floors. It wasn't a huge investment (I think it was $39.99), so if it does not work out I am not out a whole lot of dough.

I have the shark steam pocket mop. It has the two sides that you can flip over when one side gets dirty. It is the best thing I've ever used to clean floors!! I don't have hardwoods, but use it on laminate floors and tile(I have solid white, ugly, tile, ugh!). For the laminate floors I use the duster mop head style cover. It has microfiber loops to pick up all the dust.

My MIL gave it to me and bought one for herself, too. She thanks me all the time for asking for it...we are BIG FANS.

Oh, I only use water in it. I have never kept my floors as clean as now because it is so easy to pull it out and use. OK commercial over!

So do you use the steam function on your laminate? We have bamboo laminate (2 kids, 2 cats, dogs....lol) and I was thinking of getting a steam mop but wasn't sure if you could use the steam function on the laminate.

I've done a lot of research into steam mops and the Eureka Enviro steamer seems to come out on top of all the ones I've looked at. And that includes Haan, Shark and all the others. So I think that's the one I'm getting.

I had my hardwood floors installed this past July & the people at the hardwood floor store told me in no uncertain terms to NOT use my steam mop on my floors. I was told the only thing I should is Poly Care & a soft microfiber cloth mop.

I still use my steam mop for the tile in my bathrooms & the laminate in the refinished basement, but other than that my steam mop is sitting in the closet. :guilty:

I have the Haan and like it. I'm also hesitant to use it on wood floors (even though all the infomercials for all the brands say it is safe). When my pre-engineered, sealed floors were installed last year, the floor guys told me they wouldn't use it on their floors. With that said, my previous hardwood floors were RUINED by Orange Glo and/or vinegar and water. (not sure which culprit ruined them, but it was one of those products ...took the shine off the floors here and there).

So I love the steam mop for my tile floors, but I"m afraid to use it on my wood floors. If I do, I do not let the mop sit on one spot at all. I'm constantly moving it, so it doesn't get saturated.

Last year we purchased a brand new home with hardwood floors. We were also told to NEVER use a steam mop on them and were even told not to use any liquid. We did purchase a microfiber swiffer type of mop from Bed Bath and Beyond to use because with 2 kids, a dog, and a cat we had to use something to clean the floors. That worked alright (better then a swiffer), but didn't really get all of the dirt off of the floors. We did a lot of reserach on steam mops and finally decided to purchase one a few months ago. We bought a shark and love it. We only use it once a month on the hardwood and don't ever leave it one place while mopping.

We have bamboo laminate and were told NO steaming to clean the floors. I asked specifically about the steam mop. I was bumming because I really wanted the shark. I taped the infomercial. :guilty:

Water and laminate or hardwood are not a good combo according to the man at Lumber Liquidators.

thanks, that's what we have and exactly what I wanted to know. I will stay away from the steam mops then. :)

This does beg the question why the informercials, etc. say they are safe to use on hardwood doesn't it?

Thats EXACTLY what I said to the guy. He wasn't budging. A definative NO to the steam vac :headache::sad2:.

All red oak hardwood floors original to the house in 1968.

Bought my wife a Shark based on my then 5 year old peaking around the corner in K-mart and exclaiming and screaming, "We have to get this! It's the best! I saw it on TV! It's the BEST!" (Infomercials WORK! LOL)

Upon opening the box, we let the 5 year old use it for the first time. We had adhesive from carpet tape stuck on the floor. My wife used everything she could think of to get it up. We used a swiffer mop, normal floor cleaners like Mr. Clean, GooGone, nothing would take the adhesive off. My 5 year old daughter had ALL traces of the adhesive off within 5 minutes with the Shark steam mop.

My wife loves it. Our floors have never been so clean. We bought one for my mother. She swiffered the floor as she usually does when cleaning, then used the steam mop. The pad of the steam mop was filthy after swiffer mopping the floor first.

Our entire house other than the kitchen and bathroom is the original hardwood. It works fantastic on them. The only thing is, do NOT leave it sit in one spot while still hot. My wife accidentally did that, finished the floors then set it aside while she did something else. The floors need refinished anyways because of many many scratches, but it marked up the finish where the mop was sat.

i use the shark steam mop with water only on my hard floors OCCASIONALLY. it really works well to get off the buildup. it is the only thing i've ever used besides a dust mop.

i use it on my kitchen and bathroom floors all the time (both laminate) and LOVE IT!

A friend of ours is a floor guy, and he said Lumber Liquidators tells you that because they want you to buy their cleaning products. I have a high end laminate from there and use the steam mop. We've had no problems with our floors. Just make sure you keep it going, don't let it sit in one spot. If you do this, it's really no different than taking a damp cloth to your floors.

We also have the HAAN and it works great!! As previously stated, it only uses water, and it leaves our wood floors shiny and nice!

Oh great, now I'm all confused again. LOL So it is OK to use a steam mop on laminate? As long as you don't let it sit, which I wouldn't do anyway......
