I tried one last year that was just ok.....looking for a yummy chocolate crinkle recipe

These are my favorite cookies ever!

1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1 3/4 cups sugar, divided**
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla

  • Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a small bowl.
  • Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cool slightly.
  • Add 1 1/4 cups sugar. Whisk until smooth.
  • Whisk in eggs one at a time until blended.
  • Stir in vanilla until smooth.
  • Stir in flour mixture just until combined.
  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap. Refrigerate two hours.
  • Preheat oven to 350º.
  • Grease cookie sheets (I use parchment paper).
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
  • Place 1/2 cup sugar in shallow bowl.
  • Roll dough in sugar.
  • Place on cookie sheets. Bake 12 minutes or until cookies feel set to the touch.

** I prefer these being rolled in regular sugar like the recipe states, but my sister makes them rolled in powdered sugar. You would just need to adjust the recipe to:

1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar

I use the one from my Betty Crocker cookbook...they're DD's favorite cookie!

2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla
4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled
4 large eggs
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup powdered sugar

mix granulated sugar, oil, vanilla and chocolate in large bowl. Mix in eggs one at a time. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours.

Heat oven to 350. Grease cookie sheet with shortening.

Drop dough by teaspoonfuls into powdered sugar; roll around to coat. Shape into balls. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched. Cool on wire rack

OP, the title of this thread took me back to my teen years. Following is a recipe I got from a dear friend of my Grandmother. This friend used to cater weddings & I got to help her.

CHOCOLATE MACAROONS

Melt 1/4 cup butter with 2 squares unsweetened chocolate. Add 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs & 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix together & let cool.

Then add 1 cup sifted flour & 1 teaspoon baking powder. Cool at least 3 hours in the refrigerator or overnight.

Roll into SMALL balls & roll in some powdered sugar. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees F for no more or less than 5 minutes.

These are ooooooooooooh so good! They have a white crinkly top. Enjoy!

This is the recipe I use however this is how I do it.

I mix the oil, chocolate, & sugar and then you let the mix cool first.

Then I blend the eggs 1 at a time and then add the vanilla.

Then I add the rest of the dry mix in.

I chill overnight.

Secret is to take the cookies out when they are almost done, not done. They will look a bit moist/raw when you take them out however they firm up.

I use the Betty Crocker recipe too. One year I tried another recipe and it was better, but the next year I couldn't find it anywhere. But I did remember that it had mini-chocolate chips in it, so now I add about a cup of mini-choc chips to the Betty Crocker recipe and it's delish!
