Dh wanted one, but he didn't get one. Yesterday, he checked at Wal-Mart and they told him that starting at 5AM they would be giving away lottery type numbers and the numbers drawn would decide who would be able to purchase one. Dh got up at 4AM, and he came back not too long later. He said that WM had ended up selling the PS3's to the people who were waiting out in the parking lot at midnight. :confused3

It will be interesting to see how many are being sold on ebay.

I didn't try to get one nor do I want one but I couldn't' believe how many people were camping out for them last night in the 25° temps to buy a VIDEO GAME????? Nuts, just nuts!

It got a bit tense at a local CircuitCity this AM, a few of the Campers that had been there for days were upset when the store decided to make it a RANDOM draw...

Needless to say Police had to calm things down.

You must be a much nicer wife than I am. Are they really $600?

I would be really ticked off if I were your husband and I got my rear out of bed at 4 a.m. because I had been told they were doing a drawing. He could have gotten there at midnight like the other geeks (just teasing :goodvibes ) if he had been given the correct info! It had to be men planning this. A woman would have been more organized.

They should have told those people when they started "camping" that it wasn't going benefit them to wait outside for days. I would have been pretty ticked off too!

Wow! So it wasn't just here! :earseek: Dh said the security guards told him that it was an "angry situation" and that is why they changed the plan.

Well there are over seven thousand PS3s on Ebay right now, and they are selling @ well over $1500.

That's an interesting point you made. Dh said that when he was there yesterday, the security guards were telling people to leave and explaining the # drawing process that was set to begin at 5AM this morning. :confused3

I guess there were more buyers than security! ::cop:

This auction just ended - and right before my eyes it went from $3000 to $15,000!!!!!!!

That can't be a real bid........

I hope this isn't for real! Seriously, if I had $15,000 to spend on a toy, I would invest it for my kids and give it to them when they got married for a down payment on a house! I hope someone isn't stupid enough to pay for this on credit. How depressing would it be 20 years from not to still be making the payments? :confused3

:lmao: That is SO true!

I wish I had bought one of these and sold it on eBay!

I don't doubt that they will sell for that much....the PS2 was going for crazy amounts a few years ago.....add to the fact that the PS3s are $600 &$700..... people by me started lining up early wednesday morning....some sold their spots in line for $500-$700! just for a spot in line that DOESN't guarantee you getting one.
my hubby is gonna wait until the second round gets released....its expensive enough without paying the extra on ebay.

The winning bidder is no longer a registered user, big suprise. :sad2:
was probably a friend of the seller...so they could get the bid higher :sad2:

Ebay isn't letting sellers post their PS3 if they aren't peole who have had at least a certain number of auctions and a specific rating. There was a shooting in CT over these! Ridiculous.

But you know I will be on Ebay checking for people who can afford to pay that much for a video game they will all be able to get in a few weeks for retail when more are shipped!

hmmmm...I guess hitting the people in line with a paintball gun would have been wrong?? (hey we didn't actually do it!!! It was just a thought that ran through our minds last night around 3am.....but we figured the cops wouldn't find humor in that....then again..neither would the hundred people waiting outside Best Buy :rotfl: )

That is sorta what happened to me, the managers said in NO WAY would they let people show up and "camp" out, that they were doing the line up no earlier than 7am on Thursday morning. I called at 1am before Thursday, and there was already a line there of 10 people.
I think they lie to keep people from coming to their store.
