Just curious- does the assistant server get the tips because she served the drinks, is it split evenly between the server and assistant server, does anyone know? I thought our serving team was awesome on our recent cruise, but our assistant server sure did push the drinks!

I actually asked this very question at Guest Services on a previous cruise.

All automatic gratuity goes into a general pot that is split between all beverage servers on the cruise. This included those at the bars, in the dining rooms, etc.

Now, if you choose to write in additional gratuity, I was informed that that amount would go directly to the individual who served you.

This just triggered another related question... If I order a beverage ( soda or alcohol) from the bar or alcohol at dinner is there an automatic gratuity added? I knew about it being added for room service, but now I am unsure about others... Thanks from a newbie cruiser!

At the bars an automatic gratuity is added and they even leave you a little space on the bill you sign where you can add additional if you feel so inclined. - Mike

Oooh thanks, I have been known to add Another 20% by accident... so a 35 or 40% tip was the end result! THANKS for the Heads up!

Just remember if you buy any liquids (human consumable) on the ship, there will be an autogratuity. THis includes the "$2.00" bottle of water.
