Hi HollyAnn! :wave2: ...and THANKS!
(Am i the only one who wonders if Harriet Nelson would duct tape her skirt to her legs if she got caught n a hurricane?)

well...i am grateful you posted a report after the storm....

I think I am speaking for all us when I say we were all worried for you...

so glad you're ok! :worship:

Sounds like you had a nice dinner...cool....

Tom sounds like he's having a great vacation too....cool times 2...

Ahoy Cruisin' ! :boat:

ayup....i got caught in the blackout....me and oldest DS and my one brother had plans to go to an archery range and shoot some arrows...

the blackout hit...phones went down....finally just drove up to DS's house....tip-toeing throgh the darkened light signals...

but....I have a good generator...that will run the house....no worries...

we had a power outage last Friday....while we had some Grandkids here...

I took the easy way out...we headed out to the RV...armed with a "Finding Nemo" DVD...

the power came back on before the movie was over....but, by that time...we were all snugged up... :) :)

hey now.....maybe MaMudDuck wants to try some Squirrel McNuggets....

PSSST! Hey Lurkers....ifany of you were in...orwill be in..the hurricane paths....just know we are concerned for you...and have said prayers for our safety....

My oh My, what a girl misses when she goes to bed early!!! as in 2:30 AM!!!

Brer_Papa, I AM SPEAKING, so listen up......Don't EVER do that again! I was seriously considering contacting PA or WS, but didn't know if they are 'on' anymore than you are. So anyway, I HAVE SPOKEN! Don't worry us like that again! Glad you're ok.

Speaking of ok....Ann, I'm soo glad you made it through round 1 of that nasty weather. May I ask what you fill the tubs for? Bathing??

Wendy & Kevin, glad you're both rejoining us. Don't want that sweeper :space: getting either of you anytime soon. ;)

Robin, I'm so glad you were here to give BP a 'talking-to'! :p He had it coming! ::yes::

:wave2: Lurkers!!!

Now, where's mama & steph?!?!

:grouphug:

Well Ann, now you will be able to listen to the tunes while you are reading your new book by candle light;)

I am glad that you had a good meal out before the next storm. We had KFC tonight ::yes:: I am munching on some of the left over salads while I DIS.

Would you like to try some Squirrel McNuggets, MaMudduck:crazy2: You can have my share if you like!!

Ann, say Hi to Tom from the Thread Killers when you talk to him next. I hope he has an enjoyable visit. How long did you say he would be gone??

Hmm, I wonder......... would Harriet use duct tape to anchor down her skirt????????? Did they have duct tape way back then?????????

:p Poor Brer_Papa :p He is getting a talking to from everybody.

Isn't it nice to know that someone misses you when you disappear?? ;)

Hi Kim. What is new tonight?

Hi Kim,

The bathtubs are for (this is yucky) flushing the toilet. If you don't have any water pressue, you pour a bucket of water down the toilet and it manually flushes it. Believe me, if you're out of pressure, you'll be glad you filled the tubs!

So far, everything is hunky-dorie here, but we're not expecting any bad weather for a few hours still.

Ya'll take care and try not to eat too many squirrel mcnuggets!

I seem to remember doing some of that kind of toilet flushing in my childhood, well actually my dad did all the work ;)

I suppose you could use the water for other stuff too, like washing dishes, washing yourself etc.

You are up very late tonight, Hollyann. Tom is not home so you are tempted by all of us night owls I see

Enjoy your night and try to rest up for the coming weather trials tomorrow.

Ya know, I just found out about all the new nifty smilies the DIS has...how cool! I was gonna ask where you all were getting them from, but I kinda sort answered my own question...LOL:rockband:

I never knew that! Thanks for answering. My Dad and 2 brothers, Uncle and my cousin, would be ashamed of me for NOT knowing.....they're all plumbers. :o

New for me today....Kids had regular dental checkups, cleaning, flouride, xrays for one (including a panoramic)......DS was told he needs 2 wisdom teeth removed, 1 of them impacted. ALSO, if that's not bad enough, he was told to get braces, or face jaw surgery within 1 to 1-1/2 years. Now HOW do I convince an almost 17yo to get braces for about 2 years, when he DOESN'T want them? Honestly, he has nicer teeth than me, and he's never complained about his bite before.   The oral surgeon for the wisdom teeth removal is the same office as I went to last month, but DS would be put under just because of the one impacted tooth, where I wasn't. :(

Why do good teeth cost so much?? My wisdom tooth removal was about $150 out-of-pocket, and the crown is going to be at least $450 out of pocket. DS's will be even more for the removal! And braces, OR jaw surgery????? Do they HAVE to scare the bejeebies (and the money) out of ya?!?!?!?! :earseek:

Sorry to whine. :o

On the brighter side, we're going to an indoor amusement park/pizza place tomorrow with my cousin and her kids, and on Sat is the Wiggles concert with DISer family jfulcer, and there's a DIS mini-meet for after the concert (anyone wanna come?). And the Fulcer's are coming in town early to spend the afternoon with us at home! (I better clean up the house, huh?) ;) Next week, we're looking forward to a play for the kids, and a BD dinner for my Mom & Aunt (twins) for their 60th! ALL the kids and grandkids in attendance! I also have to go to DD's school and do all the registration paper-work.

So, are you sorry you asked, Robin?? ;)

Kevin, you can do it HERE, you can do it TONIGHT! GO FOR IT!!! :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:

Sounds like you had a great day there, Kim! I had braces and they also wanted to do jaw surgery. They said my lower jaw was growing faster than the upper jaw and that I would have an underbite. Well, I turned down the surgery and over 10 years later am just fine.

Nope, Kim, I'm not sorry I asked at all. It is nice to know what people are doing and that they are running around like crazy people just like me :teeth:

I would love to come to your DIS meet. It is a 6 hour drive though. One of these days soon I am going to come to Chicago and go to a DIS meet. They look like so much fun from the pictures that Dan posts all of the time!! I would have to stay over though cause that is kind of a long drive to do it all in one day.

We have a cool indoor amusement park/hotel here where I live. It is called The Wheels Inn , ever heard of it? It has pools with water slides, a huge arcade, 18 hole mini golf, very large McDonald's style play climbing thing (only about 20 times larger than a McDonald's one), indoor amusement rides including a small roller coaster and also a bowling alley, among other things.

Kevin, if you hang around here long enough, you will soon have thousands and thousands of posts!!!

thousand and thousands of posts? That woudl take me many years! LOL

Nah....just hang out here with us chatty types and you will be up there in post counts before you know it!

I don't know how but I managed to rack them up pretty quickly and I haven't been on here for that long:eek:

Guess that means I have no life ............. or ............. I am neglecting my life ;)

Thanks for posting that, Kevin! They say DS already has the underbite, but he's never had an issue with it, and I swear he looks just fine! I guess a consultation/2nd opinion won't hurt tho. The wisdom teeth is a 'for sure' tho. :(

Keep on postin'! You're almost there! :teeth:

Robin, you let me know which meet you want to attend, and I'll find something 'reasonable' for you! MANY people travel and stay 1 or more nights, doing other Chicago-kinda stuff while they're here for a little ole DIS Meet! ;) ;) I think that's what makes our Meets so great, ALL the visiting DISers we get!!! Our main core of local DISers is also FABULOUS, and we LOVE getting together, even for non-meet, one-on-one kinda stuff. ::yes::

Kim, if the jaw problem isn't going to cause more serious problems, I personally wouldn't bother. The orthodontist scared the wits out of me, but there was no was I was going to have them break my jaw and wire it shut! Good luck with the wisdom teeth! I feel his pain...LOL

Okay Kim. I will keep watch out for one of your DIS meets that I can make it to and let you know.

I have attended one DIS and I did enjoy that. It is nice to be able to see someone post and say to yourself, yup I remember that person :D

Keep postin' Kevin, not too much further to go. :bounce:

I've just made a nifty new graphic for the occassion...LOL...
