Kim, next time you will have to "rent" a kid just to get the free kid giveaway!!!

Cute bear.

We have gone to a few Toronto Blue Jays games. Only because my daughter was dancing in the pregame shows ;)

One time they got a t--shirt, another time it was a washcloth and another time they got a ball cap.

I'm not a sports fan. We stayed to watch some of the game but I was more interested in all the other things going on around me than in watching the game :p

Oops, not the free kid giveaway!!! I'm not sure how many people would want to take home a free kid :p

I meant of course, the free gift given to the kids.

I almost did! (And, I knew what ya meant) ;) As it was, Dniece got in free, she's 2, and she got a bear. DD got a bear also. So I was kinda hoping Dbro wouldn't go so I'd have another ticket to bring a 'bribe-able" kid. ;) No such luck. :( DD is sharing her bear with me and my Cubs paraphenalia (sp?) collection. For now anyway.

I know what you mean about a 1,000 things going on at those games! Concessions, shops, people watching/listening....it's distracting sometimes. We had 2 gentlemen behind us, CLEARLY from Texas (we were playing the Houston Astros). One of them always cheering opposite of us. However, he did applaud Sammy Sosa each time he came to bat. Nice I thought. I'm sure he wasn't too happy with Sammy after that last at bat tho. :p

Fun game Kims.... wish we could get the Cubs on Cable out here in Ca...

The Bear is very cute!

Btw.. how many hot dogs did the kids gobble? Anybody break Jake's 2003 Wrigley feast? How that boy did not get NACHO TOXIC .... I am not quite sure.....

WELCOME NEWBIE JOANIE!!!! :wave2:

The only hot dogs consumed were by DBro, I think 3. Kelly had pizza, popsicle & popcorn, Zoe had nachos, I had my picnic WW lunch, and I don't think DSIL ate anything! I kinda wanted a frozen banana tho. ;) I resisted. :teeth:

So Joan, you feeling like a thread killer tonight? :p You're in GREAT company!

Howdy do... :wave2: :wave2:
thanks for the invite over to this thread Kim...

I think I have killed many a thread in my days here on the DIS!

I just did not know I could actually be proud of it! LOL

Brer Papa... I make a Mean Brown Sugar BBQ sauce.. and I have been told I make super baked beans...are ya interested?

 mamajoan!

Everyone seems to rave about my baked beans too. But I don't cook them on the bbq. Do you?

I don't actually bake them anymore either ;). Most of the time I just heat them up in a pan on top of the stove. Nobody has complained yet. My guys would eat them everyday of the week if I wanted to make them.

:wave2:

Beans and men .... they just seem to go together!!!! ;)

I don't cook them on the bbq grill... those little beanies slip thru the grates.... silly goose.. j/k

nah.. I bake those buggers up with Alotta bacon in the oven gets 'em nice and toasty........ mmmmm good stuff.:

and it just doesn't seem like the 4th of July if we don't have rice krispie treats and a big tub of hand cranked vanilla bean ice cream...

Well BP, how's that for some tips from our newest newbie? ;)

Joan has some GREAT recipes and ideas! I know!!!! :teeth: She helped me ENORMOUSLY getting dressed up again for work last fall! ::yes::

....Thank you in advance....

 "beans and men go together..."

well...yeah....not that I admit anything....

 Montessori....WOW! very cool Mickey!
I can't help but think he had some beans before that picture was taken since HE is sitting by himself....

Ahoy Cruisin' ! :boat:
thanks...I hope you have a great weekend as well....

:wave2: Kim! princess: Congratulations on having 10303 posts.... :) :)
very nice of you to invite MamaJoanover....of course, soon she will be addicted...visit often...try her darndest to kill this thread......but then someone...(we know who..usually me)....just has to post....and the darned thing lives on....and on...and on...

OUCH! I had to slap myself.....

Once she finishes probation and the initiation ritual, we'll bring her up to date on the secret decoder screen....

stay tuned...my "what we did on Friday evening" post is next...

...we decided to take them to see "Harry Potter"....at....THE DRIVE-IN!

so....we pack up some goodies...my thoughtful DW brewed a pot of coffee...(bless her heart)....stowed some extra clothes and a blanket in the trunk...and off we go....to the Corry Drive-in...about a 45 minute ride...

well...once there...no matter how I parked the Impala....the kids couldn't see much from the back seat....

SO I says..."why not put them n the front seat?"

which we did...and then Princess Ariel & I hopped (<~~~ in recognition of our Frog display)... into the back seat....( a tsk tsk tsk to the casual observer with a naughty idea   )

anyway, with the high headrests on the front seats....we had to lean into the middle to see the movie....

ok ...i know you're wondering...yes...i gave her a kiss... tsk tsk tsk.....

well...the kids loved the drive in...enjoyed the movie....

BUT...i gotta tell you...they don't make cars today for back seat drive-in viewing...not that i admit anything here either....

i got a crick in my neck.....my arm went to sleep...my leg went numb...burned my lip trying to have some coffee...

NOTE: this is a critique on today's cars and has nohing to do with my advancing years....

I could have taken the 56 Bel_Aire.......back seat is as big as a parlor sofa...no headrests on the front seat...EXCEPT...it has an AM radio...and the movie soundtrack was FM...

well...the corn was pretty good....tastes just like it did many moons ago....

we didn't stay for the 2nd movie...it was midnight by the time Harry Potter was over...

all 3 were sleeping by the time we got home....so...with a cricked neck, sleeping arm, numb leg & burned lip, I carried them all over to the RV and we camped out in that for the night...

well...except for Princess Ariel...she went into the house...

anyway....we did have a great time...and I got up early...and...I am back to "perfect working order"...necks good...arms awake...leg has feeling...having some mornng coffee and lip is not complaining...
:sunny: :sunny:

so...how was your evening?

Good morning :sunny:

Sounds like you had a "fun" time at the drive in, Brer_Papa. I wondered what you were doing up posting so early this morning :p

Well, last night, my daughter was supposed to dance at the neighbouring towns 150th anniversary celebration. But, her hips were out of place and she could hardly move so she couldn't dance. She had been to the chirporactor earlier in the day and he had fixed them but they popped out again. I just called his office and he is not back in until Monday, usually he is in for a few hours on Saturday morning. So she will have to suffer til then.

So even though, Liz could not dance we went to watch the girls in her team perform anyways. This town is a French village. There are a lot of French people around here, along with tons of other nationalities.

French is spoken quite regularly in this town and the schools are also french speaking, elementary and highschool, both. It was interesting at this event because the announcer spoke in French and English. He would say a sentence in French and with hardly a breath in between he would repeat it in English.

My son volunteers with the local St. John Ambulance Brigade which does first aid at these type of events, so he was out there too.

:wave2: Kim, I do subscribe to this thread, but I usually just go looking for it, while I am reading other threads along the way.

It is like a treasure hunt that way, with the ultimate treasure being finding the "correct" thread-killer thread pirate:
