You and me both! I hope you're having a great Sunday. Hubby and I slept in today and are just getting around to starting our day! I don't think we have anything special planned....the poochie needs a bath. Other than that, we'll probably just relax. We usually don't go out anywhere on the weekends, since the stores are so crowded.

Our DD, SIL & grandson surprised us at church lastnight, so we all had dinner together. That little boy gets cuter every time I see him!

Take care Cruisin, I hope everyone else is doing okay. Ann

:wave2: Ann

I am going with my son to a "family" picnic with St. John Ambulance (where he volunteers his time). He is almost 21 but he still wants me to go, so he has some family with him.

My husband is out flying his remote control airplane but he is going to meet us there. My daughter is still sleeping, I don't know if she is going to come with us or not.........probably not!:p

It is being held out at the lake (Lake Erie), so I guess it won't be too much of a hardship to go and spend a few hours at the lake. It is very nice outside today to go for a drive.

Hope everyone has a good day

:sunny:

 Okay, where has everyone disappeared to!!!

I guess that I will just have to go and get some sleep ::yes::

Nah, I think it's cute! :cutie:

We went to Six Flags Great America today. 10-1/2 hours, I'm pooped. :faint:

Where is that park located? Did you have fun? Are you a ride rider or do you just tag along?

I am not a real roller coaster fan. I don't like the kind that take you up really high and then let you go. I like the kind like Big Thunder Mountain that have lots of fast turns though.

Brer_Papa, where have you disappeared to? Did you go away for the weekend?

 Hope everyone has a :sunny: day!!!

Hi there Threadkillers!

Wow, it's been quiet on the threadkillers thread for a while. I had a BUSY day today. My hubby and I walked 3 miles, then I volunteered at my political party's headquarters til 2pm. Then I had a prescription filled (at a military base - free, but takes time!) then I had to get my glasses repaired. Stopped at Wal-Mart for a few essentials, and viola, it's 4:30 pm and I'm home! I'm going to sneak in a nap and make dinner. Ya'll take care and keep postin'!

Miss you threadkillers! Ann

 Ann, busy day for you as usual

Okay now, where has everyone gone???? .............. I had a shower today, honestly I did ::yes:: ;)

You are right HollyAnn it has been vewy, vewy, quiet around here. Where are all of those wascally thread killers hiding:confused:

Okay guys, I need some opinions here!!!

We are deciding on a short trip for our anniversary. We only can go from Thursday to Monday, so 5 days away from home in total.

Should we go to California to Disneyland. We went once about 5 years ago and it was extremely busy and very unsatisfying. We hardly got to see anything. But..... it takes 5 hours to fly to California ............. , there is a 3 hour time difference ( my husband goes to bed early here about 9 -10 pm) ..........., we are less familiar with that area .............., the flight times are the pits (leave Detroit at 7pm, leave Los Angeles at 10:30pm) ............., it will cost more to go the Disneyland (flight and hotels cost more than Florida) ..............

But I do want to see Disneyland and California Adventures ::yes::

Or should we go to Florida to WDW. We have been there many times (16 times for me, one less for him) It is cheaper to fly to Florida (not alot about $120. total) ................, I can book room at the POP Century for $55.00 a night if we go in September ..............., it only takes 2 1/2 hours to fly there ..........., no time differences to deal with ............., flight times are leave Detroit 4pm, leave Orlando 8 pm) which means we are home by about midnight on Monday instead of 8am on Tuesday from California. We have a 1 1/2 hour drive from the Detroit airport to home.

If we go to Florida we might take in the Cirque de Soleil show. We saw it in Vegas and were blown away by it.

Or we could pick someplace else totally different such as Las Vegas, which we also enjoy, or maybe a driving vacation closer to home.

So.......... help me out here........ what would you do if you were given the choice ??????????????

Oh yes, one more thing

:thewave:

My daughter got her G1 licence today. We have a graduated licence system here. The G1 is your beginners licence meaning she can drive with someone else with her in the car who is a licenced driver. Then you have to pass the driver's test and you get your G2 and can drive alone. You must have the G2 for at least one year and then you do another driving test and if you pass then you have your full licence.

:goodvibes So, today she did the written portion of her test and can now drive the car.

She got a perfect score on her written test :teeth: I only hope that she drives as well as she did on the written test :p

Now to talk her dad out of his Accord!!! My Civic is stick shift, so she will need a bit of driving practice before she is ready to start with that, although she will be learning how to drive the stick shift car.

It only took her 1 year and 3 months to decide it was time to get her licence!!

I can see where it would be inconvenient to go to Disneyland, but that would be my pick. Disneyland is wonderful. Especially in September! My hubby and I went there during September for 5 days and we spent an entire day just walking around and enjoying each other's company. We didn't even go on a single ride! Because of the low crowds, we were able to ride anything we wanted pretty much any time.

Also, the last time I was in California, the California Adventure was awesome. However, the California Screamin' (roller coaster) did make me a little sick. I love roller coasters, and this one has a loop-de-loop, which always makes me sick. Why is it every time I'm in line, I think THIS time it will be different?!

Now, like you, I'm a Disney Nut, so it's hard to go on vacation and not visit the world/land. But.....if you've never been to Las Vegas, that's a really great place. They have all kinds of things to do, not just gambling. They also have some world class restaurants. I highly recommend The Palm Steakhouse and The Cheesecake Factory - both under Cesar's Palace.

Tough decision....best of luck. Hubby and I are going to WDW for a day in September (that's the most I could talk him into - and only because it was my birthday!). However, since we only live about 2.5 hours away, it's an easy trip.

Congratulations to your daughter on her license. Here, they call a G1 a "learners permit" and basically the new driver has the same privleges. It's very exciting!

Well, I hope the rest of the gang check in soon......I'm starting to get worried about them! Maybe we should PM them. What do you think?

Take care and let me know what you decide!

 Ann

We have been to Vegas I think 4 times. The last time we went was in November of 2001. We like it there too and we don't really gamble. So much to see and do there. We like to just go around and see all of the hotel lobbies of all of the resorts. They are pretty nice too.

We are also only 2.5 hours away from Orlando, too ;) if we fly :p Of course you have to add on the 1.5 hour drive to the airport, crossing the border and the 2-3 hours you need to be at the airport ahead of time :teeth: But realistically we can leave home and be in WDW in less than 8 hours.

I am wondering if it might be better to leave California until we have a larger chunk of time to spend there.

Waiting for some more input from the other members of the gang!!

Have a good night Ann

Ooh! We're both on-line at the same time! That's never happened before! I agree with you regarding California. Vacations are supposed to be relaxing, not hard! Hubby is going to California this week to see the kids & grandbaby. It's his "I don't have cancer" present from me.

If you've been to Vegas - unless you really like to gamble - about every 5 years or so is enough.....unless you live close by!

Maybe WDW is the answer! When will you be going? If we're both there in September together, we'll have to meet up in the park!

I don't know for sure when we will be going. Technically our anniversary is Oct 20.

The flights to Florida are cheaper in September 273.40 for both of us  vs in October 355.40 for two. We have paid that much for one person before in the past.

Our choices so far are Sept 16-20, 23-27 or Sept 30-Oct 4. Then the prices start to climb. Well they are the same for the next weekend Oct 7 - 11 but that is a long weekend in the US and Canada and I would like to avoid that one if we can.

Also there is a code to get the value resorts for $55.00 a night for September

When are you planning on going?

We're planning on the 16th of September. Since we're only going one day, we don't want to go on the weekend (Friday included) just to avoide more crowds! Are you catching a morning flight? Wouldn't that be cool! I was browsing on disneyworld.com yesterday and they had the prices for the value resorts posted there, so maybe you don't have to do anything but book them. Let me know!

We hadn't planned on taking the early morning flight (there is one that leaves at 7 am but that means getting up at 3 am and I think I am getting too old for that ;) )

We would probably leave on the 4pm flight, so we wouldn't get into Orlando until 6:40 pm. But if we did decide to go early, I could probably survive the early flight!!!! If it meant I could meet up with you and Tom. The 7am flight arrives at 9:25 am I think.

That would be so cool. Don't know if it will work out but maybe.

Did you look at Dan Murphy's thread with the pictures going to the Magic Kingdom?

Just makes me want to be there right now ::yes::

Nope, I picked up a book I've been reading. Is it under the community board?

I completely understand about not taking an early flight. It would be great to meet you and hubby, but remember - it's YOUR vacation. Spend time together - that's what it's all about.

Keep us posted on your plans! Enjoy your evening. Hubby has a tummy ache, so I'm keeping an eye on him.

Yes Dan's thread was somewhere on the first page when I last looked. The pictures are just wonderful. Have a look if you have the time.

Well, I will let you know what we decide when we decide it:teeth:

I have to leave in a few minutes to pick up that daughter of mine from her dance class. Next year at this time she will be driving herself :( It is sad in a way but good in another way ::yes::

Let's see if I can catch up here.....

Robin, the park is in Gurnee, IL. About 30-45 minutes from me, depending on traffic. Of course yesterday, it took us 1-1/2 hrs to get there, due to traffic just from this park.  We all had fun! I am both a ride-rider, and a watcher-waiter. :p I used to do them all....about 25-30 years ago (when the coasters weren't so scary). Now I do the milder coasters, that don't require locked harnesses, belts, head gear, liability releases, etc. before boarding!  We went with neighbors, and sometimes while all the big kids did the BIG coasters, I took DD to the smaller stuff, or the parade at the end of the evening. We used cell phones and those talk-about things (walkie-talkies) to keep in touch and meet back up again.

As for your trip.......ay yi yi, tough choice. Altho I have a desire to see CA someday, I don't think DL would be the primary reason, I would go there too, tho. ;) My first choice has been, and always will be WDW, especially when you're going, either Sept or Oct. The kids are back in school, less crowded. Now Vegas, I've never been, no desire up to this point. I guess the kids are holding back that trip, huh? ;) I like to gamble on a hugely SMALL scale, so I know I'd get right into the swing, but that could be a bad swing, ya know?

Just a thought, I've never been myself, but have you considered some nice romantic East coast US area? Or hey, I know a GREAT place, lots to do & see......in Chicago!!!! ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ::yes:: :teeth:

Hi Ann! How's the hubby feeling? :(

Hope our non-posters are all doing ok, and check in soon.

Maybe the lurkers beamed them up!! :space:
