Well that's what I'm calling it at least. I left beautiful, sunny Florida on Christmas Day and flew into the middle of the blizzard in Nebraska. What a mess. My parents live in the country and lost power for 2 days and had quite the nightmare. Thankfully the roads are almost clear and I should be able to finally get home tomorrow. Better late than never I say! If you ever wish for a White Christmas, be careful what you wish for!

I HATE snow. I've never wished for a white Christmas in my life. That's why I live in the south, because I hate winter with a passion. But I guess I don't live far enough south!

The blizzard hit us Christmas Eve morning. We got an inch and a half of rain first, then the snow and sleet started. I don't know what the actual snowfall total was, but we had some drifts three feet tall. My DD and her DF couldn't make it home for Christmas, and neither could DH's DS and his DF. So here DH and I sat, with our 23# turkey, and nobody to help eat it. I went ahead and cooked it since it was thawed, and as soon as it cooled off, I froze it again. :) We were supposed to go to my DB's home for opening gifts Christmas Eve, but the roads were impassible. So our Christmas was a pretty big flop, due to the Blizzard of '09. Well, at least it wasn't as bad as the Christmas of '00 when we had an ice storm and lost all power for eight days, and lost our water for 11 days. We had no heat, no electricity and no water.... Nothing worked but the phone! Hmmm, thinking back to that Christmas, maybe this year wasn't so bad after all!!

The blizzard hit us on Christmas Eve. Fortunately for us, we were in sunny Southern California. We arrived last night and snow was still falling. The roads were not pretty coming from the airport. What a mess. Just over a foot of snow fell. Snow drifts were almost as tall as me, and I'm 5ft tall. We couldn't even get into our driveway. Thank God for our nice neighbors who helped us dig out our driveway this morning. They were supposed to go to Omaha, but got snowed in.

We got it too the on Christmas eve - the kids LOVED it but the roads weren't bad at all and everyone showed up....:cool1:

I thought you had moved to Florida and was wondering why you would post this! LOL! Yeah, we made it to my folks on Christmas Eve day (instead of night because of weather). But we held off on going to my in-laws in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere Iowa until today. We survived, but I need to hit the grocery store.

when you saw the US map and they showed the blizzard and snow totals and they showed the north shore of MN....Duluth 20 inches of snow, ice, rain, wind.....that was us! The family all met at a gorgeous North Woods Resort this year on Lake Superior.....We all finally made it there, safe and sound, and then it was absolutely beautiful with the huge waves of Lake Superior breaking around us out all of our windows, but traveling there and back home again, not so much fun!!!! Sounded like a good idea when we all planned it last July!!!!!!!! Mother Nature was really angry this Christmas, wasn't she?

I guess we got about 14.5" at our house but we are out of town and haven't seen it yet.
