Who do people post pics of themselves sitting in their car?

I must find out the answer to this question!!!

So, I'm on Facebook, and a lot of people seem to have a photo of themselves sitting in their car as their profile pic. Why is this? They are just sitting in the driver's seat with their seatbelt on, taking self-portraits and then posting them on facebook...why?

What am I missing? Is this a cultural phenomenon that I know nothing about?

Was someone in their car heading out for the night when they noticed their hair and makeup look extra great, so they decided to snap a pic? I could that being the answer if it was just one person who did this, but there are seriously 10 people on by FB friends list with these kind of pics!

I've even gone so far as to google the phrase "Why do people take photos of themselves driving?" in hopes of finding the answer to this question, but can't find a thing about it on google!

AND...before you say I should just ASK the people on my FB friendslist why they have pics of themselves sitting in the driver's seat of their car with their seatbelt on...I've already thought of that!! LOL!! I don't want to offend anyone though, and certainly don't want them to know that I'm soooo out of the loop that I don't know why it's really "cool" to post these kinds of pics!

So please help me!!!! I must know the answer to this question!!!

Well, my DS has one of himself on FB, but it was with a group of prom pictures so I assumed it was for the prom, I didn't realize there was a whole pictures in car trend!!

I will ask him when he wakes up!

My friends do that too!
They are just sitting in the car and must be bored or otherwise, and just take a picture! I don't see the appeal but who knows.
I know alot of my friends just have their captions as, "I was bored."

I too have pictures of myself in my car. I go out there with the cameras and take many pictures... (and notice I did say cameras..) I think it is just that a phenomenon that people have seemed to get into, like taking your picture at the beach, or at the prom it is just something you do!

I understand if you got a new car, and want to take a picture of it.

I'm talking about photos where you can't see the car...just that a person is obviously sitting in a car. Here's an example:

What am I missing? Surely these people have much better pictures of themselves? Why are they taking self-portraits of themselves sitting in their car?

Edited to add: These are random photos on the internet. These aren't from facebook, but you get the idea!

Yeah, I don't get that one either!! LOL!!!

It seems there is NO answer to the car picture question...especially the ones where they aren't even looking at the camera...like they are pretending that they didn't know they were being photographed (and of course they know they are being photographed since they are the one taking the picture!!).

I guess this is one of life's mysteries. If anyone ever solves it, please let me know!!!

I don't know - but I can tell you that I have 32 friends on facebook (i know - not that many compared to some others) and none of them have car pics. Maybe there is a subset that can explain - like they all got new cars?
