Who can tell me about Lego Land

My son, he is 7, LOVES Legos. On our next Disney Trip we were thinking of taking a side trip to Lego Land. My question is "Is it worth it?"

YES!! He is the perfect age for Legoland. My two boys are currently 6 and 8 and have a blast every time they go. If you sign up for the lego club magazine there are often half-price coupons inside. (club.lego.com)

Your son will probably think so. We went during Thanksgiving week with our 2 boys, age 4 and 6, and they loved it but I was underwhelmed. Lines were long and it was poorly run compared to Disney. We had the Pepsi promo tickets, so at least it was half off, because I would have felt robbed at full price. My boys are begging to go again next year though, so I'm sure your son would love it if he is a big Lego dude already.

I think your DS is the perfect age and will love it. We don't have kids and we took DH's parents for the AAA preview day at a big discount. We had a lot of fun, there are a lot of cool things to see and do, but if I'd paid the regular rate (I think it's $75 for adults) I would have been disappointed. It's a small park and it won't take all day to see everything.

We went on Black Friday with DS6 and DS7 (we have been to Legoland California once, too) and the kids had a blast. It is definitely worth it, especially with the Pepsi Promo, etc. We arrived before they were scheduled to open and there were plenty of people in the parking lot already, so I would arrive early and get on the coasters early. The park had extended hours that day and we were there from 10 AM until around 7 PM, so there is plenty to do.

Mine are 2 and 5 and our recent day a legoland was the highlight of our trip. However, I can't imagine it in the heat of the summer. We went mid-week mid-November and we had a nice day. Most of the line areas have some shade but not much is inside.

Totally agree! I was underwhelmed as well....lines moved super slow....although waits were only a max of 40 minutes (Boating School). No themeing as compared to Disney....employees were lackluster at best. We took a survey at the end of the day...it said to ask your child to answer the next question..."How would you rate your day?" My DD9 picked fantastic. If you go in comparing things to Disney....you will be disappointed. We went before the park opened...went through the parking gates at 9:30am....as the park opened at 10am....yet we still could not do everything before the park closed due to lines. We did go on most rides, but missed the 4D movies and the firetruck show....DS4 did not have a chance to ride the kiddie rides as we had no time left for that either. If you child is under 36" they will not be able to ride many rides. It's not like at Disney where you can take an infant on Haunted Mansion....Legoland is very strict. If you have BOGO child tickets then it might be worth your time....

We are planning a visit there when we go to WDW this May. Thanks for posting the coupon link. I notice it expires in March. Does anyone know whether the actual discounted ticket itself must be used by March? TIA!

Thank you for this! Lots of useful info on mousesavers and looks like we could even use our air miles for legoland too.

If you have a child that loves Legos and relatively mild rides, then I believe it is worth it (assuming you can get some kind of discount - we used the Pepsi buy 1 adult get 1 child free)!

We went to Legoland in California a few summers ago (loved it!) so my kids (now 9 & 7) were so happy that one opened in Florida. We went to the Florida park on the Monday before Thanksgiving and it was crowded but not unbearable. We got there when it opened and the lines were fairly short for the first hour. The longest we had to wait all day was about 45 minutes for the Driving School (we got in line about 1 hour after the park opened) and the Coastersaurus (we got in line around lunch time). Some of the lines such as Lost Kingdom Adventure contained bins of Legos that the kids could play with while the parents waited in line.

The Fun Town pizza buffet was a good value and if you sat on the patio, you overlooked Miniland. Miniland was my son's favorite part of the park. He could have spent hours looking at all of the different Lego buildings!

We spent most of the day there and was able to ride all of the roller coasters and rides not tailored to very young kids, spend about an hour in Miniland, see one 4D show, see the water ski show, eat a meal, and shop for Legos. Considering all we got to do and see in one day, I would say it is worth a few hundred dollars for a good family day at Legoland.
