Who am I? Lady GaGa or something? 2/8 A Little Trip Around the World, Sort of...

Amazing food, tremendous service and so neat to watch the goings on in the kitchen... highly recommend it!! In fact, had gone in thinking this was a "once in a lifetime" kind of experience but now think I might like to do it again! :upsidedow

So does this mean you will be doing it again anytime in the future? :rolleyes1 Just checking so I can get in on the action!

Cute dress by the way!

That was an unforgettable and amazing meal and night! I had the best time with you ladies!!! Loved every moment and as you said I tried things I would never in a million years order and loved every bite!! Especially that salmon...never would have ordered that was a bit worried about eating it and it was just perfection!!!!! Watching the chefs cook, spending time with some great friends, eating amazing food, it doesn't get much better than that!!!

Definitely was a great experience and I'm so glad I was able to do it!!

Seeing all those food pictures makes me hungry LOL!!!

OOOH I also enjoyed the chocolates when I got back home...those were delish!!!!!!

Have to agree with C on the number of people...after 6 it would get quite cozy in that room!!!!!!!!!!!

:bday:Happy Birthday Melissa!!! party:

I dream of this meal. I could totally do it again. The wine itself was worth it!!! :rotfl2: But let me say I consider myself a pretty seasoned drinker and this really kicked my butt!! I blame it all on the sake. Melissa and I LOVED that riesling....we mentioned that to our "butler" and he graciously filled us up again...maybe even more than once ;)

Here is a picture of my niece and I giddily getting ready. If you have teens you know that a bathroom picture in the mirror is a must. I just don't get it.

This is salt that was served....as I recall the butter was made there and served unsalted. I was able to purchase the black and pinkish salt at DTD in the "tea store" where they sell all of the kitchen stuff. I have used it a few times since I have been home :goodvibes
photo-34.jpg

Here is the salmon. It was absolutely delicious. Not a huge fan of salmon either but wow. :scared1: This was paired with the sake...which is when my memory went completely downhill

I too was not a fan of the quail egg...but I ate it  I ate everything :rolleyes1 Was scared/nervous about the sweetbreads. I wanted to try it because I knew I would NEVER in my real life. Delicious..as was everything else. This coming from a former 15 year vegetarian

Each time we left the table we were escorted through the kitchen and then the dining room. The break was nice to walk around....we shopped. I bought a coverup and apparently some Basin bath salts.....sake remember :rotfl2: When we finished and walked out for the last time every chef stopped working and personally thanked us for coming.

It was such an amazing experience. Loved getting dressed up and of course couldn't beat the company :grouphug: I am a huge fan of cooking shows...Top Chef and many of the Foodtv shows so it was fun to see a real kitchen in action. They were actually very quiet and methodical in their work.

:rotfl2::laughing::rotfl::lmao: OMG I am laughing so hard I am crying. I had some questionable purchases myself.

There were lots of laughs around our table. We'd like to think we entertained the chefs as much as they entertained us. ;) For that reason I'm not sure whether I'd enjoy the dining room as much - I think it is typically pretty quiet in there and in many ways much more "formal."

As Tracy mentioned, it was super impressive that as we left each one of them stopped what they were doing and personally thanked us for coming (& for the entertainment ). Definitely a classy operation and Disney service all the way.

Wow! I must admit that I know nothing upon nothing about Victoria and Albert's! I don't think I'm fancy enough (or adventurous enough, as far as eating goes) for that place! That's so cool that you got to go! FIVE HOURS? Wow! That's awesome. I'm glad yall had such a great time! PS... I just looked up what sweetbread is, and WHAT?! That's the most deceiving name ever! :lmao:

Of course the mirror picture is a must! I can't tell you how many pictures Chelsea has posted on her Facebook standing in front of a mirror. :rotfl:

Hi, Melissa! Hope you had a very merry Christmas and a happy birthday today as well! I am going to try very hard to keep up with your trip report from now on! :goodvibes

What a fun night out with the girls! That's a fantastic picture of you all with your wine in the GF!

All of your food looks delicious -- like you said, I would never imagine trying some of that stuff, so how neat that you not only got to try it but liked it as well! :thumbsup2

Thanks Jackie!!

It was amazing night and I'm so glad we did it!!! I couldn't have asked for a better meal or better company!

Melissa, you did a great job of describing dinner! I agree, it was a wonderful, special, fantastic evening! :goodvibes I was definitely a bit concerned going in, being a fairly picky & definitely unadventurous eater, but I told myself I was going to try everything and am so glad I did. Who knew I actually like salmon when it is well prepared??

Thank you!! It was such an amazing evening! I was so happy and excited that I enjoyed everything (other then the egg!) I felt exactly the same way about the salmon and the lamb! I didn't know I would enjoy both so much when it was prepared well!!

Here's one of the pics you missed:

Amuse Bouche - I dream of that butternut squash soup (can't believe I'm saying that) -- so good!!
156-Copy.jpg

LOVED that soup!!!!

Salmon - I agree the sake was "give you goosebumps strong" ... but seems I drank it anyway... :rolleyes1 Guess I missed a pic of that one too!

I think I took 2 or 3 sips before I gave up! I don't think I would had remember the rest of the evening if I drank it all!

So, so so glad we had an opportunity to try it. We totally lucked out on getting the ADR! :thumbsup2 One other note for anyone considering this in the future - the V&A site says the Chef's Table is for "up to 10" - I really can't imagine having any more than six without it getting really crowded at the table. Just my two cents.

I'm also soooo glad that you were able to get the ADR!! It was so a great night! I can't imagine 10 people fitting at that table! I honestly can't imagine much more then 6!

Amazing food, tremendous service and so neat to watch the goings on in the kitchen... highly recommend it!! In fact, had gone in thinking this was a "once in a lifetime" kind of experience but now think I might like to do it again! :upsidedow

Agreed! I would do it again in a heartbeat!!

LOL! It was a lot of wine!!! He filled our glasses of riesling at least twice!

Yeah, I see a lot of mirror pics on Facebook between my niece and cousins!

I was a lot nervous about the sweetbreads!! But it wasn't as bad as I thought it be!

:lmao: Darn sake!! I remember almost buying a rather expensive Lily Pulitzer something!!

Tracy

They really were so methodical and there was very, very little noise from the kitchen! Although, I guess we may have drowned it out with the talking and laughing!

:lmao: Darn sake!! I wonder how many people make interesting purchases in the Japanese Pavilion after a bit of Sake at Teppan Edo!!

I definitely don't think I would enjoy the dining room as much! It was very subdued!

I admit, I'm very similar to you! But, I really wanted to have this experience and I'm sooo glad I did it!! Yeah, sweetbreads might very well be the most deceiving food name ever!! :lmao:

:lmao: It's a teenage girl thing!!! My niece and cousins do it all the time!

Melissa, although V&A's is not something that Mark and I would ever do, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the stages they go through and the photos of the food, etc. And let me just say you ladies all looked lovely.

Wow - Fabulous meal with a fantastic group of ladies! :thumbsup2 What a treat to sneak that into a family trip!

Thanks Kathy! It was a wonderful evening! I will admit that it isn't a meal that I could see everyone enjoying! I asked DH several times if he wanted to come and he refused each time! It wouldn't have been something he would have enjoyed!

It really was a fabulous meal and evening! It was a wonderful treat in the midst of a busy family trip!

Wow, what an awesome meal! Most of those foods I'd never order (only because I don't go to fancy places that serve them!), but they sure do know how to make a beautiful presentation!! What a fun evening for all of you!

Question - was anyone else deserting their spouse that night? Or were you traveling without them? My DH would probably not like it there, so it would be fun to do with girlfriends.

Note to self: Watch it with the sake!

Happy Belated Birthday Melissa!

What a wonderful wonderful update! Everyone looks just gorgeous and the food divine. It sounds like an absolute blast. I love that there was a break. It really is a perfect girlfriend event, Jeff would never have the patience for it.

It was a fabulous evening! Everything was presented amazingly!

:lmao: I love your question!! My DH was deserted! Well, not really! He had his parents and the kids! His mom lets him get away with a lot more anyway ;) The other hubby of the group was at home in a different state! Probably eating cereal for dinner as he's been known to do! The rest are living the single life ;)

We really needed that break! We need to standup and let gravity help the digestive process! :lmao: We were there for 5 hours but I really didn't feel like we were there that long! It really went rather quickly! There was never a "when is it going to end?!" moment! Quite the opposite! When the desserts started coming I knew it would be over soon and it was terrible!!!

LOL....I do believe Lucky Charms was the dinner of choice that evening :rolleyes1

Before I begin this update, please excuse me! Once again this day was an epic fail in picture taking!! Sorry!!

The morning after my wonderful, amazing V&A experience we slept in a little and decided to skip breakfast in the room for any necessary snack in the park! Especially because we had an early lunch ADR!

So we got ready quickly and headed out to DHS! We still made it there by a few minutes after 9! Woo hoo!!

We stopped for a photopass picture on our way in!

Then a pic from me

DH was a little dismayed by our stop! He was ready to run toward TSM! But, we got there and found that the wait was only 20 minutes! I got us FP for later while DH parked DS4’s stroller with the kiddos! Then we got in line and waited! The wait time was about right on the money! We did something we hae never done before when we boarded TSM! DH went alone, I went with DS4 and DD and DS9 went together! I was a teensy bit nervous about this arrangement! Ok, it may have been a little more then teensy! DD and DS9 can go from being best friends to despising each other in .0000001 seconds flat! They go from quietly playing legos together to me having to literally pull them apart without warning! So, I was worried that we’d get off the ride to tears and screams, or worse yet, I’d hear them screaming at each other through the ride! But, I decided to let them do it! They really wanted to and I warned them that if there were any issues they would, without a doubt, be spending the rest of the day in the room! We got on and had a fabulous journey through TS! No incidents, no problems! Woo hooo!!!

With everyone very excited about their ride and me convincing DS4 that he had won and got a better score then anyone else in the our family it was time to move on!

DS9 was bursting at the seams to ride Star Tours so we headed that way! I was pleasantly surprised to find the wait at ST to be something like 15 minutes! Woo hoo! So, DS9, DD and I got online leaving DH and DS4 to wait on a bench!

Queue pics

I have to tell you, I really, really enjoyed the new ride! BUT, I made me a little woozy!! I don’t know if it was the wine the night before, but if I had eaten breakfast I may have lost it!!! UGH!

We did a little shopping at the drop shop and then it was time to move on! We stopped for a cup of coffee and a cookie and headed toward Disney Junior!

Luckily, I finished my coffee along the way and we wrapped up the half eaten cookies! Ryan was soooo excited to see Disney Junior because Jake and the Neverland Pirates are in the show now!! He was glued to me so no pics!

After DJ DH, DD and DS9 headed to GMR! DS4, Ryan, wasn’t feeling it so he and I sat it out in place of doing a little browsing in the shops and getting a photopass pic taken!

Not sure what I'm looking at!! LOL!

Then it was time to meet DH and the other 2 kiddos outside our lunch destination for the day! Hollywood and Vine!

Admittedly this isn’t one of my favorite places to eat. But, I was going more on the experience for DS4 with this one! We checked in and waited a few minutes before our name was called and were escorted in! There was hardly anyone in the restaurant! But, it was only around 11:40ish at that point.

Our waitress came over and got our drink order and then we proceeded to the buffet! It was pretty run of the mill Disney buffet food, but that’s what I expected!

Soon the Disney Junior characters started the rounds!

Special Agent Oso

June for Little Einsteins, Ryan LOVES June!!

Leo from Little Einsteins

Handy Manny

We had a decent lunch and had full bellies then it was time to venture onward! MIL and FIL had arrived in the park while we were at lunch and were waiting on a bench near by! That seemed kinda silly to me, before we had left the room they gave us the impression that they were going to skip the park that day! FIL’s back was really bothering him. Not to mention, we weren’t sure how much longer we would be staying in the park! The weather was rapidly growing cloudy and it had rained a bit while we were eating lunch! Oh well!

Meeting up with MIL and FIL we discussed our next move! Our FP for TSM were due but DS9 was dying to see Indiana Jones! We discussed me and MIL taking him and letting the rest of the family ride TSM but FIL was insistant that he would go to Indy. Ok! It seemed to make DS9 feel special that he got to go with MIL and FIL alone! So off we went with plans to meet at the hat after all was said and done!

DS4, DD, DH and I all enjoyed our TS adventure again and DS4 was thoroughly convinced he was the TSM champ! DS9, MIL and FIL all had a fabulous time at Indy and DS9 picked out an action figure at the shop outside of Indy!

With the weather growing increasingly gray we decided to head out! But not without a little shopping (for MIL) and browsing (for me) before we left!

Then it was time to head out!

Up next, what would the afternoon bring? What would be our dinner destination?

What a fun morning at DHS.

I was wondering why anyone would go to H&V...but with the young ones and the characters, I can see the reason.

Great photopass photos!

And how nice that your son got some alone time with G&G while you guys used your FP's for TSM.

Nice on the short wait times that morning!! What was the date?

I think it's cool that your little guy got to be the TSM champ and see his favorite Disney Junior friends! So special - you can tell by his smile that he's super happy!!

Plus - your older son getting to spend special time with his grandparents - that's nice.

Hmm, where is dinner going to be????
