Who’s excited about the Barbie movie?

Greta Gerwig was seen out Monday night at a posh NYC Italian restaurant having dinner with Taylor Swift, Laura Dern, and Zoe Kravitz.

Speculation is maybe they were talking about doing a Barbie 2 sequel. Gerwig has said she'd be open to doing a sequel. We probably won't hear anything official until after the writers & SAG strikes are over. :ssst:

This is interesting. Time will tell, but frankly I don't think it needs a sequel.

Yeah, maybe the sequel should be called "Ken". I'm more interested in his journey than Barbie's at this point.

There has only been one movie that topped a billion dollars at the global box office in which a sequel wasn't made. That movie was Titanic, and it was because, SPOILER: the lead characters died. If director James Cameron could have made a sequel, he probably would have.

If a movie makes a ton of money, it naturally deserves a sequel. That’s the American way. *yawn*

🙄
We also know that on this side of the ocean. Successful movies get a sequel, successful tv series get a movie (downtown abbey the movie 😉)

One of the most remarkable, here in the Netherlands, we had a movie which was a big success. And then they announced a tv series. The movie was 120 minutes. The tv series 180 minutes. And I had hoped the series would be completely new, "what happened before/after the movie takes place". Nope, the series was basically the extended cut, with all the deleted scenes.

Leonardo should've painted another Mona Lisa.

I still haven't seen Barbie yet. But hey. If there's a sequel, I'd love to see GI Joe show up- if Hasbro would agree to it. Not like the movies based on 80's Joe, but the classic 60's Joe.

Anyone remember this 90's ad?

Mattel might skip it and focus on it's planned expanded universe movies (Magic 8 Ball, American Girl, etc). I foresee trainwrecks aplenty!

When I played with Barbies there weren't enough Ken's for all my Barbies so I had to borrow a GI Joe once and also an Evil Knevil. :rotfl2:

I always thougth from the commercials that GI Joe had a cooler life. He actually had a career. Ken just played tennis or whatever boring stuff. (I still haven't seen the movie yet either.)

Can GI Joe be played by John Cena? GI Joe by day, merman by night.
Cena would be a great choice. I know there's a gag in Barbie about her feet, GI Joe could do the same: for trademark purposes, he has a facial scar and an thumbnail on the opposite side of his thumb.

I never was able to see it - so bummed!
When anyone finds out where it will be streamed first, please let me know - send me a PM or something. I really want to see it.
Thanks 🙂👍🏻
