Hello everyone, I am still strying to find a place to have a reception for my intimate wedding in November. Has anyone eaten at the Whispering Canyons and do you recommend this for a meal.. My wedding is at 1:00 at the Yacht Club Gazebo and we have the honeymoon suite at the Wilderness Lodge. I thought this would be good, because the wedding party could come to our room and have our wedding cake. Any ideas are appreciated.

I think it really depends on the type of dinner you want. If you want a nice more traditional style then no I totally wouldn't recomend it. Whispering Canyon is LOUD, they have the kids race around on hobby horses and everyone shouts. If you want something more fun then go for it. We're doing our dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse, but as far as I know they're not open for lunch.

Thank you, Do you know what time they open for supper and what is the price range. Are you having an intimate wedding?

I believe Yachtsman opens at 5:30 at least that's when they're opening on our day. We're doing a 3pm intimate at Sunset Pointe doing the cake/reception deal then heading over for dinner, figuring by the time we get everyone there and are done our pics it should be about time. Yachtsman will do a specialty menu for you if you want, you just pick items off their main menu and they make it up without prices and with your names and the date. I think it's going to be about $1000 for 12 people, not exactly cheap but the food is increadable, and everyone's getting a 3 course meal soup, salad, and entree, and soda. We decided that everyone was on their own for liquor, just more then we needed to deal with.

Hope this helps
Melissa

we are looking at whispering canyon or artist point at the wilderness lodge for our rehearsal dinner. would also like any info on anyones reception meal or rehearsal dinner there. we've eaten at both in the past, but wanted to know how your experience was with a group, special occasion, custom menu?

novemberbride-whispering canyon is more laid back & family themed with kids races & server antics, they also have an all you can eat skillet for like $20. artist point is more formal with a view of the creek & forest & fine food. you can see these & other restaurants menus at allearsnet.com/dining/menus
best of luck with your plans.

I am also planning an intimate wedding, what I have decided to do (as of now at least) is the Character Dinner at the GF Park Fare. Buffet price is $29.00 adult and $13 a child. I have 2 neices who will be coming to Disney for the first time (age 4 & 8) who would love to meet Cinderella and Prince Charming!

We have decided to host a mini reception right after our Sunset Pointe Wedding at Ohana's.

This is an all you can eat buffet dinner, adults $23.99 children $9.99. :jumping1:

We are having an early morning intimate wedding and wanted to have a lunch reception somewhere but not many of the nicer places serve lunch so my co-ordinator recommended the Portabello Yacht Club at Downtown Disney, it looks nice from the picture I saw on Allearsnet.

We took our boys to the Whispering Canyon on our last trip and it was too rowdy for me, if you will still have your gown on I am not sure if that is a good place to go.

We are also having an early wedding (11:00) and are going to the Portobello Yacht Club for our lunch. We were a little disappointed with the very small number of nice lunch options offered throughout Disney. The Yacht Club seems to be the only place that won't be too informal.

We had a lunch after my VR at the Concourse Steakhouse. I thought it was great food and a great location right off the monorail and you could go on the observation deck afterwards and see the castle. I did wear my dress and I did not feel it was too informal. Just another suggestion for a lunch place.

I probably would not do WCC in my dress.
