tell me about whispering canyon? We are thinking of going there for dinner on a pool/resort day.

We loved it... great food and a lot of it. My picky kids enjoyed everything about it and can't wait to go back.

The CMs joke with you and it is very fun. If you don't feel like joking you can turn your coaster they give you over. We loved it, food was great and it was fun! Ask for ketchup.

It's all about the all-you-care-to-enjoy BBQ platter. Get a late lunch reservation (at one point the price was lower at lunch, but it might be the same at dinner) and it can fill you up for the rest of the day!

We have teens so the AYCTE skillet and milkshakes are extremely popular. The antics are a lot of fun for us and we've had great service there overall.

We really disliked it (I seem to be in the minority here). It's so loud. The whole restaurant (adults included) singing the Hokey Pokey whilst I'm trying to eat my dinner does not appeal to my dry British sense of humour. It's just crazy in there. Food was ok though. We are just a family who like to sit, relax and enjoy out food I guess...without waiters chucking straws at us.
(Yes I know this is the point of the restaurant, and I did know in advance, I just thought I'd give it a go for my kids sake, but she hated it more than I did!)

Does the entire table have to choose the platter? How does the pricing of the platter work with the dining plan?

The platter is considered an entree choice on the dining plan. And no, the entire table does not have to all order it. One trip, just our 2 kids ordered platters and DH and I shared a steak. Another trip, 7 of us ordered the platter and DH ordered the fish. The server does prefer if everyone orders the platter (I imagine its easier?). One time DS and I just wanted to order just the ribs or something (the rest of our party was having the platter) and he insisted on upgrading us to the platter for no extra cost.

The milkshakes are good but we've never been able to finish even one of them and never actually had a refill.

As with most other places in barbecue places Disney, the food tends to be consistent and appealing. We dine here almost every trip and enjoy the food and atmosphere.

On their menu it has items listed as serving and individual. Is a "serving" family-sized and "individual" is for one person?

We've done breakfast and lunch and overall its a solid table service. We didn't get much of the shenanigans on either visit, but the food was all very good. Enjoyed the pulled pork eggs Benedict for breakfast, but lunch was the real star. Excellent bbq that they smoke on property and the best baked beans I've ever had

Last visit, their chicken was amazing! I usually don't bother with bbq chicken when dining out, but we ordered extra of this!

I'll join you in this minority, Amelia. We've only been twice, but both times I felt like it was incredibly loud, and people let their kids run wild (I'm guessing due to the general atmosphere of the place). The second time, a kid of about 10-11 actually ran full speed right into us and knocked my son (who was 4 at the time) right off his chair and his food and drink went flying. No one seemed to care much. The staff wasn't overly quick to help, and didn't even bring him replacement food (we'd just been served, so food was barely touched) until I asked twice.

Totally YMMV, but we prefer a less hectic vibe.

The wording is confusing, but it's understandable why they list it that way.

The AYCTE Skillets are listed as "individual" to let everyone know they are not for sharing. If you order a skillet, it's for you and you only...not to be shared between others at the table.

The other meals are listed as "serving", but they are still individual meals...there is no "family sized" meal at WCC. By listing the other meals as "serving", it is possible to split those meals, although they are technically one-person meals.
