Please tell me about this restaurant. Is it good for a family...me, dh, dd-11, dd-8, dd-5. My husband hated 50's prime time...he got picked on, but the kids loved it.

I ate there & LOVED it...we got that deal where they bring out the huge "kettle' with Chicken, ribs, corn, beans, etc in it & we all shared it....it was great!!

At night they sometimes have someone walk around the WL & do little seminars for the kids on the wilderness & the animals...it was really cute...not sure if they still do that though

good luck!!:goodvibes

Ok, I know I'm not the OP, but I'm sold! I just read the menu and my mouth is watering! I think I'll be scheduling this for our trip next spring -- looks great!

We went there on our last trip even though it was 10 years ago. Very fun restaurant. The help all played parts. Our waitress dressed in western gear(she killed all 10 of her husbands but never got caught) and was sooo fun. we had 2 kids with us at the time and they had a horse on a stick race around the restaurant to keep the kids busy. They acted like they had rodents and would shoot there guns. Don't forget to ask for ketchup(I won't tell you anymore than that but it's funny). I am planning on bringing my daughter there for her 1st visit in Sept. By the way the food was very good and if your staying at the resort itself it was cheaper to go to the restaurant and eat breakfast then it was to buy it in the food court. Just a little FYI for you. Have a fantastic time!!!!

If you're husband didn't care for 50s Primetime, WCC may not be for him. We had a calm waitress. Her only schtick was to throw a bunch of straws and napkins on the table, but the running about, loud antics, and calling attention to guests by other servers at nearby tables annoyed my DH. DS13 was equally unimpressed, though DD9 and DS5 had fun. You might try it at lunch, if you really want to go. It's a bit calmer.

Whispering Canyon is one of our favorite family places to eat. We've only had dinners there, but our friends rave about the breakfast as well. The wild west theme makes for a fun time and my 4 yo DS jumped right into the stick horse races and the "we need ketchup" ritual. If you don't want "special" attention (pretend rudeness and attitude) from you server, let the host or hostess know when they seat you. It's all in good fun.

We've never waited more than a few minutes beyond our ressie time to be seated, but even if things are busy there are things to keep the kids busy in the waiting area.

The food is good and filling. The skillets are a good choice for moderate/big eaters. DW orders from the menu and has never been unhappy. Enjoy!

We loved it there. ASK for the Ketchup.....

If I could ever figure out how to post a pic on here, I would show you our table!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

We ate there last week and it was yummy!! There were quite a few antics going on, but not a nuisance...just good fun. I had the ribs which were very good. My daughter had the prime rib which was out-of-this world excellent! We did have about a 30 min. wait past our ADR time however. They were extremely busy.

We are going on our 1st night in September!!!! Can't wait!!!! My DH is ordering from the skillet, if he doesn't finish it, can we bring the leftovers with us? I am ordering from the menu, as I don't eat much of what is on the skillet. Any suggestions?? Thanks :goodvibes

We ate at WCC last summer and have reservations there this coming week. Our server suggested that those on the dining plan (we were/are) avoid the skillet, as you get more for your $$$ (OK, TS credit) by ordering each part of your meal.

I had:

Nachos (7.99)
NY Strip (22.99)
Chocolate Cake (5.99)
Diet Coke (?.??)

So that's just north of $37 for my meal. The nachos were really good (hard to screw those up, really). The steak was good, but not great. It's not like a Ruth's Chris steak, or even an Outback steak. I would compare it favorably to the type of steak served at Applebee's or a similar chain. Perfectly passable, but not a destination steakhouse. The desert was good. Diet Coke? Wonderful.

If you order the skillet, the included salad is your appetizer. Also, those who order separate dishes may not sample from the skillet; those who do will be shot on sight. OK, probably charged for a skillet, but I like to be dramatic.

I can't remember what my wife or mother-in-law had that night. I know that my kids participated in the stick pony race and my mother-in-law was selected to hand out the certificates.

We also ate at WCC during our honeymoon 10 years ago. If you get a chance, try breakfast. More laid-back, good BF food.

We love WCC... give it a try!

I have ADRs for WCC in November and I'm nervous because I didn't like when we were picked at Prime Time many years ago. But I figured that I had to try it at least once, right?

I have eaten at PTC as well, and they do kinda "pick" on you there. "Eat your veggies!" etc., etc., etc.

WCC doesn't really call attention to you quite as much, at least as far as what you are eating.

I don't want to spoil the fun, but I have never felt that anything they have done was meant to make me feel silly. It's all meant to have a good time.

Also, the CMs are really good at figuring out if you like to be "picked on" or not. In general, if they sense that you are not in for a bunch of hijinks, they will let you be.

We've had dinner there three times, the most recent in 2006. We did not eat there on our most recent trip (we got home on Tuesday) because we did not love it last time.

If you do not like the role playing or teasing at Prime Time, I'd avoid WCC. They're similar in that regard. Some servers do not tease at all, but others do, and if you're someone who doesn't like the teasing or having attention drawn to yourself, you would be wise to avoid it.

Our service there in 2006 was the slowest and most frustrating of our trip. It's also extremely noisy due to the clomping of the trays on the wooden floors, the hollering for ketchup, and other things. If you don't like that type of atmosphere, you should stay away too.

Lots of people talk about kids loving it, but that's the one place both of my boys said they did NOT like and didn't want to return to this trip--which was fine with us.

I posted earlier, but I couldn't figure out how to load a pic. Here goes nothing again. I think I may have figured it out with the help of my friends on the disboards. Here is a picture of our table at WCC after DD asked for some ketchup.......

If you want to enjoy the food at WCC, but are not sure about the "entertainment" then ask for a table in the Library. This is an area sectioned off from the main area and the servers tone down the fun. We've had to wait for half an hour or so to get in and it closes before the rest of the restaurant. :goodvibes

Whispering cannon was so fun it was so awesome!!

DMom :hippie: DDad :coffee: DSis princess: me pirate:

when we went last year ds 14 was made to sweep the restaraunt after picking on his sister!! all the servers were purposelly dropping napkins and such and calling him over for a " clean up" LOL it was too funny! The look on my 4 yo dd face when they brought over all that ketchup was priceless. We are going back again this August and bringing along others we haven't let them in on the fun yet !!!
