Whispering Canyon

We had a lot of fun at Whispering Canyon. Our server was great. She said she's worked for Disney for 20 years.

That sounds like M.T. Wallet! She's a hoot! The best server there :thumbsup2
The BBQ skillet is yummy!

Why is it hard to get too??

That was my question, as well.

One can get to and from any resort using Disney transporation.

If a guest doesn't know HOW to do this, I suppose ANYPLACE would be a "pain" to get to.

Wilderness Lodge can be reached by BUS from any theme-park or Downtown Disney.
From MK, Contemporary, or Ft. Wilderness there is BOAT service.

In general, to get from one resort to another resort:
Either first go to a theme-park (that is still open)
or Downtown Disney
then transfer to a bus, monorail or boat
that is going to the resort of your choice.

After looking at all the menus on another site, this looked like the type of food we would like, so I suggested to my husband that we try it sometime. We were at MK and deciding what to do next, and we saw the sign that said boat to Wilderness Lodge (or whatever), so we got on. I took out my cell phone and made reservations for about 1/2 later, and it worked out well. Actually, we enjoyed the boat ride. It was relaxing and it goes around the Contemporary which was interesting. We didn't know about the servers, but ours was on the laid back side. I really liked seeing the more aggressive servers with other people. It was too funny. And in the middle of lunch, everyone had to get up and do the hokey pokey. And the food was good too. I definitely want to go back.

I would reccomend it. I have eaten there twice and both times we loved it. If you wanted a nice (re: expensive dinner) I would also suggest Artist Point as well.

I think any time you are going to a different resort it's adventure getting there if you don't have a car. It wasn't hard to get there, though. To get there from SSR we took a bus to MK and an enjoyable boat ride to Wilderness Lodge. Because we were ready to leave at the same time Wishes was over, we decided to avoid MK on the way back. We took a bus to DD and walked back to SSR from there--not a big deal. It was kind of nice because the bus also stopped at Grand Floridian--interesting to see a different resort even from the outside. :)

As Robo said, you can use WDW transport to get there if you know how to work the system - but it can be trying on the little ones after a long day at the parks - having to switch busses and all. There is always the "call a cab" option for the ride home if they / you are really tired. Have someone go ask the Bell Capt. to call for it when you're just about ready for the check. Then enjoy the roaring fire in Lobby while you wait. We've done this from WL back to BCV and the cost was under $20. A fee we were all too happy to pay for the hassle it saved us.

Totally hated it. :crazy2: <-- I looked like that by the time we left.

I guess if we were slightly schnokered and didnt have kids with us - it could have been fun...

But all the yelling! And then they pull your kids away from the table to go play. My youngest cried from all the yelling and hoolerin' and my oldest wanted to play - why eat when she could play?

For a $150 dinner where no one ate, my youngest cried so hard he had to leave, and the food was just okay - it just wasn't worth it. I know, I'm a kill joy...rum would have helped.

And the best way to get to it - for those that still want to give the insanity a try - we found going from MK to WL by watercraft was the quickest route. Buses were totally random - over an hour wait! Watercraft was about 15- 20 mins total transit time.

We love it!!

We ate there last month. We have dinner reservations there again for May.

"Bullfrog" is a fantastic waiter. He really got my whole family in on the fun.

The ribs are the best!!

IT'S CRAZY! you really have to be in the mood for a WILD time! the waiters and very loud and you do not have time to just sit there and eat because they will be doing some sort of thing to you like using your napkin as a hat and DON'T ask for Ketsup because they will give you about 20 bottles very loudly announced to the rest of the patrons. It was great fun! but as I said, if you just want to relax and eat...Whispering Canyon is NOT your place.

Yea! :cool1: A restaurant where my two 6 year old boys and goofy hubby won't have to be perfect little gentlemen. We have our June ADRs made and plan to keep the "entertaiment" a secret from the boys. ;)

We had a crappy time! It was quiet and the servers didn't do anything fun or crazy. I thought I was in the wrong place! We even tried to get some funny stuff going to no avail.

BUT - the food was excellent so that made up for the lack of atmosphere that we were hoping for.

We went there last Thursday night for dinner and it was the highlight of our trip's dining for everyone in our group. There were 6 of us from age 65 to 5 and it had something for everyone. Brittany was our server and was great. We love to play along and our S8 couldn't wait to ask for the kethcup. Our D5 didn't want to race around the dining room on the horses so Brittany told her she could rest at the table with it so she could be included. Our table was more into participating then some others near us and Brittany adjusted her "act" accordingly. The food from the nachos to the BBQ skillet, steak or pork chops and desserts were great. Kids LOVED the milk shakes. We took the boat from the MK to the WL and it was very relaxing just be sure to leave at leave 30-40 minutes prior to your reservation for travel. Boats only depart every 20 minutes or so. :thumbsup2
