Now that i was able to get the time slot that i wanted for WCC im kinda torn as to which would be better for our 5 yr old son? I know he would like the volcano at SAI but would WCC be much more fun for him? I love the pics of SAI it just looks amazing! Food wise they both sound yummy.

also this will be our first sit down meal at disney too :earsboy:

Hi,
We ate at both the Whispering Canyon and the San Angel Inn with our son when we last year and he was 2. He enjoyed the Whispering Canyon because they have games with ketchup that kept him entertained. We enjoyed the San Angel Inn because he slept on me the whole time their through lunch and I booked it especially for him because Mexicam is his favoriet food.

The food was very good at both so I do not think you can go wrong!

My DS(10) and DD(3) loved Whispering Canyon. We will be going back to that place on our next trip. I highly recommend WCC, but I have never been to San Angel Inn to compare it with.

I think SAI is beautiful and your son will enjoy watching the boats go by.. I would choose by the food you want the most..

Is your child well behaved and quiet? If so, San Angel is a lovely, cool, quiet place to eat.

Ours are NOT!:rotfl: So WCC is always one of our faves, because an occasional loud voice doesn't really get noticed and the games keep everyone entertained.

If your child is a typical five your old and has a rowdy side, WCC is it. Make sure you ask for ketchup (that is my son's favorite part) and the brrom stick pony rides pull every child in!:thumbsup2

I completely agree. Though I have not been to San Angel Inn (yet), we ate at WCC last year and the kids in the restaurant were having a great time with their horse races and calling for ketchup. It is definitely a rowdy place -great for little ones! ;)

He can sit quiet while we eat. He's not overly rowdy and jumping around in his seat but he talks constantly. :lmao:

but he would get into the rowdy mode no problem ;)

How often do they do the horse race thing?

When you have all that ketchup how long does it all stay there? does it just keep getting passed? i would imagine every table needs ketchup!

I keep reading about the s l o w service at WCC and most people seem to not want to go back? Can it be that bad? :confused3

I didn't notice slow service when we ate there. No slower than any other WDW restaurant. :confused3

Ive eaten at WCC 3 times and pretty sure they do the pony races on the hour? Not positive, but I think so they have done it all 3times we were there (though twice we were without kids and the last time our son was only 1 and too young.)

We ate at San Angel Inn on our honeymoon 3 years ago and liked the food and the atmosphere but it seems so much more adult. Im sure kids like the boats and the volcano but I just remember the resort as being so quiet and peaceful I wouldnt imagine taking my son there yet!

WCC is a fun experience. The whole family enjoyed it, my daughter who was 5, just thought the place was crazy(in a good way). It was perfect for her since she has such a short attention span. Plus she loved the milkshake.

I went to WCC and san angel inn the last trip. I was very disapointed in WCC. Our waiter wasn't good at all, in fact he didn't do any of the jokes or fun stuff. My kids sat there watching the other tables have fun. It was our first trip there and we expected them to do jokes, etc. I actually spoke to the manager about it on our way out. The manager was very nice and refunded my dining credits. With that said I wouldn't go back. The food was greasy and I didn't like it very much. I got the all you can eat skillet.
The san angel innn was good. The food there was different then the mexican food around here that i'm use to, but still good. We got a seat right near where the boats go by. It was a really nice atmosphere. I would say go for that! Do it on an epcot day to save even more time. I ate at alot of the resort restaurants this trip and I felt like I wasted too much park time traveling to get to the different places.

WCC is probably more kid-friendly.... the atmosphere at San Angel is very amazing, though.

We're taking our 6 yr old to San Angel because he will absolutely love the atmosphere. I thought about WCC but the menu doesn't appeal to me.
The atmosphere does indeed seem quieter at San Angel, but like your son, mine likes to talk, but knows how to behave in a restaurant and I know he'll be fine:)

Wispering Canyon. No question. Fantastic, lots of fun. A must do.

The San Angel Inn is the only place on property that I would say "sucks" and it does. Big time.

You're basically asking me to choose between one of the best places on property and the worst. Nope no question at all.

Have to agree 100% on this one.

Is San Angel Inn going to open by then?

It was my take that they where doing a full over-haul and even the menu was going to change. Can't remember where I saw that info though.

WCC is lots of fun, or can be a good meal without hoopla if you get seated in the "quiet area."

San Angel Inn is NOT tex-mex, so don't go in there looking for tacos, enchiladas and burritos. Read the menu. The food is good, it just isn't what most Americans expect in a "Mexican" restaurant. Hence all the "sucky" comments. AND -- if your DS likes the Three Caballeros, he'll like the boat ride before, during and after dinner.
